James Anderson - Partner
James joined Poppleston Allen as a solicitor in September 2003 and was made a partner in April 2006.
He has many years experience in licensing law, acting for a wide range of clients, based mainly in London, from individuals to major operators although (perhaps reflecting two of his outside interests) most of his clients are either pubs or restaurants. In the 2008 Chambers Guide, James is described as a "standout lawyer" for his work.
James won a landmark case in June 2007 for a London bar in a West End stress area, and was granted extended trading hours by Westminster City Council. It was one of the first bars or pubs in the area to be granted an extension outside core hours. He was then granted further extended hours in an Appeal against the Council in December 2007, one of only a handful of successful Appeals against Westminster in the stress areas.
James also heads up the Poppleston Allen Betting & Gaming team and has advised clients from betting shops and bingo halls to arcade operators. James has also developed a training DVD in this area for the Law Society in conjunction with the Gambling Commission.
James is also involved in a significant number of lectures and training sessions for council members, officers and other responsible authorities around the country on licensing and gambling issues.
BRAINTREE -- Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley presented 116 Cheverus Award Medals to laypersons, deacons and religious during a 3 p.m. Vespers service yesterday on the Feast of Christ the King, at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston's South End.
First presented in 2008 at the celebration to mark the conclusion of the archdiocese's bicentennial year, the annual award recognizes Catholics for their dedicated service to the Church. The medal is named for the archdiocese's first bishop, Jean-Louis Lefebvre de Cheverus, who led the diocese from 1808 until his return to France in 1824. Bishop Cheverus died in 1836 as the Archbishop of Bordeaux.
The oval-shaped medal is made of sterling silver and bears a likeness of Bishop Cheverus based on the Gilbert Stuart portrait. On the reverse side is Bishop Cheverus' coat of arms.
The medal recipients are chosen for their service to the Church and God's people. Most recipients are nominated by their pastor, forwarded by their area vicar and approved by their regional bishop and Cardinal O'Malley. Some recipients are personally selected by Cardinal O'Malley.
Each year, one-third of the parishes of the archdiocese are asked to nominate a parishioner. The criteria given to pastors is that the nominee should be a lay person who has served the parish well over an extended period of time and has done so in a quiet, unassuming and, perhaps, unrecognized fashion.
Also, each of the regional bishops is asked to nominate a religious and a deacon from his region with similar qualifications. The Central Ministries of the archdiocese also make nominations from among religious, deacons and lay persons who serve on archdiocesan committees or lead important ministries.
With this year's group of recipients the total number of individuals and couples who have been named Cheverus medalists stands at 726. There were 93 recipients in 2013, 121 in 2012, 97 in 2011, 98 in 2010 and 133 in 2009. There were 68 awardees in 2008.
Friends and family members of the honorees are welcome to attend the service at the cathedral. The presence of the pastor and a delegation of parishioners is also encouraged to help underscore the parish's appreciation for the service of the honoree.

James Madison Jr., aka James Madison, was an American statesman, diplomat, and Founding Father who served as the 4th president of the United States from 1809 to 1817. He is hailed as the "Father of the Constitution" for his pivotal role in drafting and promoting the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights.

James Island is an island in the Gambia River, 30km from the river mouth and near Juffureh in the country of The Gambia. It contains a fort known as Fort James. It is less than two miles from Albreda on the river's northern bank that served a similar purpose for the French.
History
The first European settlers on the island were Baltic Germans from the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia, who also had other colonial possessions in the area. They called it St. Andrews Island, though the British Crown had previously granted the island to two separate companies in 1588 and 1618. In 1651, the settlers built a fort that they named Jacob Fort after Jacob Kettler, the Duke of Courland, and used it as a trade base. The Dutch briefly held the fort from 1659 until the British captured it in 1661; the Dutch formally ceded the fort to the British in 1664.
The British renamed the island James Island and the fort Fort James after James, the Duke of York, later King James II of England. The chartered Royal Adventurers in Africa Company administered the territory, which initially used it for the gold and ivory trade, and later in the slave trade. On 1 August 1669, the Company sublet the administration to Gambia Adventurers. In 1684, the Royal African Company took over Gambia's administration.
In 1695, the French captured Fort James after a battle with English sailors. They returned it in 1697 but then captured it again in 1702. The fort was destroyed and rebuilt several times in this period, both in conflicts between the British and French and by pirates. On 13 June 1750 the Company of Merchants Trading in Africa assumed the administration of The Gambia. Between 25 May 1765 - 11 February 1779, The Gambia was part of British Senegambia.
The Six-Gun Battery (1816) and Fort Bullen (1826), now included in the James Island UNESCO World Heritage Site and located on both sides of the mouth of the River Gambia, were built with the specific intent of thwarting the slave trade once it had become illegal in the British Empire after the passing of the Abolition Act in 1807. These sites along with the island itself were abandoned in 1870.
Legacy
As an important historical site in the West African slave trade, it is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with related sites including Albreda, Juffureh and Fort Bullen. James Island is suffering heavy erosion, and is now approximately 1/6th of its size during the times of the fort. Ruins of several of the British administrative buildings (including a single cell, apparently used to house the most troublesome captives), a small jetty and a number of skeletal baobab trees remain. The ruins have been stabilised, and protected by a capping. Due to the low land of the island, some structures are at times beaten by the waves during high tide and storms.
Kunta Kinte, author Alex Haley's Mandingo ancestor, described in the book and TV series Roots, was probably shipped through James Island.

So back from camping and still catching up.
Had an amazing time...camping for 2 days which was rather windy! This is my friend James cooking some sausages on a disposable barbe with the high winds, not that you could tell but he was pretty grumpy and didn't appreciate my photo taking at the time. How helpful am I! :)
We were in a rush to eat up to go catch the sunset.
The last night was rather interesting...25 mile an hour winds and pissing it down with rain all night. Wasn't sure if the tent would last but it sure did. It was freeeezzing in the tent and that was with 4 layers on! Ha ha...good times.
Anyway we moved on to a house for the next 5 days which was pretty sweet and the weather was clear blue skies for the rest of it.
Nice.

James Remar stars as Samantha's love interest Richard Wright on the Emmy® and Golden Globe® winning HBO series SEX AND THE CITY. James' character created quite a stir in more ways than one, as executive producer Michael Patrick King explains: "The rooftop scene with James and Kim Cattrall is about a woman who's trying to avoid romantic attachment," says King. "The shock is not that there's male nudity, but that she falls in love."
James has been cast in 20th Century Fox's New Regency Productions coming of age comedy "The Girl Next Door" for writer/director Luke Greenfield. Remar will play Hugo Posh, the very entertaining incredibly pompous, extremely successful porno producer. The film stars Emile Hirsh, a driven high school senior who falls in love with "24's" Elisha Cuthberth, the next door neighbor's niece. When Emile's character Matthew Goodman discovers Danielle (Elisha Cuthberth) is a budding porn star trying to get out of the business. He decides to risk his promising future to help her.
James just finished shooting the sequel to Universal's blockbuster THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS. In the film, James stars as Agent Markham, a tough customs agent who enlists the help of Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and his friend, ex-con Roman Pearce (Tyrese) to help bring down Carter Verone (Cole Hauser). THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 2 will be in theaters in June 2003.
James recently finished production for Miramax's comedy DUPLEX starring Drew Barrymore and Ben Stiller, and directed by Danny DeVito. He plays "Chick," a slick hit man who fronts as a pornographer.
Next James can be seen co-starring in Hubert Selby Jr's (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM) FEAR X, co-written and directed by Nicholas Wynding Refn (BLEEDER, PUSHER). FEAR X also stars John Turturro and Debra Unger. James plays Debra Unger's husband, "Peter." The film will premiere in the world cinema category at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.
James began his career on the New York stage - he was part of the original cast of BENT with Richard Gere, as well as numerous off and off-off Broadway plays. He has enjoyed a successful career spanning over two decades and more than 30 feature films. He broke onto the scene in Walter Hill's THE WARRIORS and 48 HOURS opposite Eddie Murphy. Since then, James has worked steadily with some of the industry's most celebrated filmmakers including Gus Van Sant, Penny Marshall, Francis Ford Coppola and Michael Apted.
James was also seen opposite Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer in the hit thriller WHAT LIES BENEATH for director Robert Zemeckis. His performance in BOYS ON THE SIDE as a rugged, gentle bartender opposite Mary-Louise Parker, Drew Barrymore and Whoopi Goldberg garnered him critical acclaim.
