This is the homescreen on my (jailbroken) iPhone. No, the background isn't from OS 4, it's part of a springboard theme.
* A little extension known as Weather Icon shows the temperature in the Weather App icon and in my status bar. (jailbroken app)
* The discs on Phone and Mail are part of the Backgrounder app that lets me run an app or two in the background (mostly used for Tweetie and Colloquy/IRC). (jailbroken app)
* Things is a task management app that is GTD-based. I've got three things due today.
* Meebo is a great little multi-protocol IM client with push notifications. It's free, but basic (and fast).
* Evernote stores my notes and such in the cloud.
* Tweetie is my Twitter client of choice.
* Byline is my Google Reader client right now. I've tried Reeder but it's just too slow on my 3G.
I'm glad I've got an iPad, even though I wouldn't have purchased it on my own. I've tried to hold a laptop in one hand and type with the other and it just doesn't work like how the iPad works. You won't get that unless you actually try to use it in real life.
I feel that I should be given a stack of cards by Apple to hand to people I've caused to develop iPad lust. Maybe if I sell ten iPads, Steve Jobs will come over and let me fondle one of his black turtlenecks or NB 991's.
I am realizing that I forgot to take pictures of the other model from Saturday (we'll count Elea as a model for the purposes of this accounting, even though she's clearly got friend-cookie/friend-scone privelages) with an iPad. On the other hand, when I was over at a friend's house in college, I was horified to see his copy of Playboy and notice that the girl on the cover had one of those iBooks that was shaped like a toilet seat.
Um. Where was I? I forget. Anyway, I am rather fond of Photoshop CS4 because it makes the task of editing whitegrounds much easier.
I'm not sure if Elea's got iPad lust. But she does have a jailbroken Android phone, which makes her more awesome than a girl posing with nay but strategically placed iDevices.
My first generation iPad (64gb, WiFi) is exhibiting a most peculiar error. It is not jailbroken.
The icons are duplicated and congregate by the upper left corner. The original app icons do not register touches. The duplicate app icons can be dragged to anywhere and do not conform to the grid.
My unlocked, jailbroken iPhone, with sexy lady background and sexy transparent icons, which I use on T-Mobile.
Upon escaping the safety of the indoors. The now Free, (or jail broken lol) Iphone makes his way through the outdoors. When he finds a bone with mysterious chew marks on it, his normally smiling face becomes sad and unsure.
At least if he gets too scared, he could always download AT&T Navigator and make his way home. He's too cheap to get Mobile Me for himself, poor bugger.

The iPod Touch is the newest friend I have. Look it's jailbroken, I have installed 25 new applications on it includeing iPhone's native apps like the Mail, Weather and Stocks. Neat eh?
Playing Killzone 3 on a modded PS3? You may want to rethink your gameplan. In light of Sony's ongoing battle of attrition with hackers, Guerrilla Games has made it clear it will be working with Sony to deal swift justice to players who use a jailbroken system to gain a competitive online edge.
"The ability for one person to ruin people's games is not a good prospect obviously, so we're working with Sony on the moderation side," said studio producer Steven Ter Heide in his chat with CVG, continuing, “We're looking at people misbehaving, being able to follow reports against those so that's all been taken care of - and we're working with Sony to see, even more aggressively, what kind of things are happening.”
Heide explained that Guerrilla will be actively monitoring online leaderboards and player stats for suspicious activity, and taking action when foul play is evident. He also noted the studio was not adverse to issuing continual updates if that's what it takes to keep Killzone 3 unsullied by system modders, adding, “That's the reality now, we have to keep patching the game to make sure we keep getting one over the hackers."
Killzone 3 is only a couple day young, so we'll have to wait and see if Guerrilla can keep a lid on the PS3 tomfoolery. In the meantime jailbreakers, consider yourself...cautioned?

A small group of people will remember our first MIDI video about 10 months ago that needed a jailbroken iPhone. Well here is the real thing.
Filmed by iPod Touch, here are a few of the features of the Ella MIDI implementation - 3 voices at once (upper, lower and pads), all can be played concurrently if you have enough hands or somebody else around/on stage who can hit the pads. Programmable keyboard split for upper and lower, programmable chord pads if your keyboard supports it (and the Axiom 49 has 8 of them - mighty useful). Ella can be seen responding to controllers on the keyboard with on-screen information keeping you up to date, and controllers are used to change voices, volume, pitch, tone, reverb parameters, and level/pan for each of the upper, lower and pad instruments. Ellatron and the Lite Trons now all feature the same rich reverb unit first seen in M3000, and the MIDI Ellatron is going to hit the shops with a handful of the real Tron voices from M3000, albeit with the usual limitations - shorter loop times, major third sampling intervals etc. Mellotron purists, or indeed anyone who wants a real Tron will still want the M3000, but people who just want a handful of Tron sounds for occasionally spicing up a song will love the new Ella.
Plus the MIDI implementation is ultra-responsive, despite this being a debug build and having a dozen printfs per played note - printfs going over WiFi to the Mac, because you can't really printf with an attached dock accessory...
A bit more work to do on the user interface to de-stupid it (e.g. "What is" ... "This For?" on the left!), an upgrade to the saved/restored preferences file, and we will be ready to roll out for testing. If all goes well we should be good to go by early December.

TAMPA, FLA., John Savio (Center), Abigail Gardner (Featured as Apple Employee) This year they're back at it again. John Savio and Reko Rivera went their separate ways. John created the upgraded rendition of the iPhone 4 featured here at 10x to scale, complete with a 40" LED LCD Panel, a Jailbroken iPhone 4, VGA out from the iPohone, LED Back Camera Light, weighs roughly 75 lbs and uses a mini 12v Battery with 2+ hours of battery life. The costume took a total of 3 days / 40 hours to complete.
BACKSTORY -- This all started three years ago Reko Rivera and Bobby Hartman created a wearable large iPhone costume with a real 37" lcd tv. An iPod was attached with a looping video of a real iphones screen in normal use. Last year with the help of John Savio and John Matthews the team created yet another amazing rendition of the new iPhone 3GS. Savio loved the original idea but wanted to take it to the next level and make it thinner and actually work with user input! With some heavy researching and some solid determination Savio finally found a solution. He managed to modify the software on the iPhone to allow a live dual image output to the large 42" lcd tv while maintaining the image in landscape mode. Reko originally came up with the idea and really pushed to see his vision come to life two years ago. This year John Savio and Reko Rivera embarked on different projects. John stuck with his love of apple products and Reko ventured off to explore his love of DJ'ing with a mobile DJ setup.

i think this is one of the only applications i've been truely impressed with on my recently jailbroken iPod touch.
last.fm is already my favourite website, seeing as i've been a member for over three years now, they really know my music taste and nearly every suggestion is perfect.
The mobile scrobbler app is perfect, it lets you scrobble tracks direct from the iPod via wifi, or store them until you are connected, but it also allows you to stream their radio over the wifi too, which is perfect. that includes your recommendations, similar artists and your own play lists. and like everything they do it works absolutely perfectly.

I was asked to purchase a few iPod Touches for work yesterday. They will be Jailbroken and used for special projects in the Security Architecture course. I've been playing with it. It's a rather cool toy. Spec-wise I think the Nokia N800 is a far better device, but the ease of use with Apple's AppStore is seamless. WiFi works out-of-the-box. And I even purchased an officially-sactionned International Year of Astronomy iPhone/iPod Touch application called Star Walk. It provides a 360° view of the celestial vault and you can scroll from north to south pole, too. The Stanza eBook reader can even download public domain books from the Gutenberg Project.
