Well I was sitting, waiting, wishing
You believed in superstitions
Then maybe you'd see the signs
The Lord knows that this world is cruel
I ain't the Lord, no I'm just a fool
Learning lovin' somebody don't make them love you
Must I always be waiting, waiting on you
Must I always be playing, playing your fool
I sang your songs, I danced your dance
I gave your friends all a chance
But putting up with them
Wasn't worth never having you
Maybe you've been through this before
But it's my first time so please ignore
The next few lines cause they're directed at you
I can't always be waiting, waiting on you
I can't always be playing, playing your fool
I keep playing your part
But it's not my scene
Want this plot to twist
I've had enough mystery
Keep building it up
Then shooting me down
But I'm already down
Just wait a minute
Just sitting, waiting
Just wait a minute
Just sitting, waiting
Well, if I was in your position
I'd put down all my ammunition
I'd wonder why'd it taken me so long
But Lord knows that I'm not you
And if I was, I wouldn't be so cruel
Cause waitin' on love aint so easy to do
Must I always be waiting, waiting on you
Must I always be playing, playing your fool
No, I can't I always be waiting, waiting on you
I can't always be playing, playing your fool

Gone… a wonderful song of my preferred artist… Jack Johnson accompanied by Ben Harper
Jack Johnson and Zach Gill perform "Banana Pancakes" at the Heal The Ocean annual banquet (& 10th anniversary celebration!)
"This German poster portrays Jack Johnson as a dignified athlete of magnificent physique. Advertising a film of his 1910 fight with Jim Jeffries, the image avoids the controversies the bout caused in the United States. Social reformers, who viewed the sport as barbaric, were successful in moving the event from San Francisco to Reno. The match, pitting "the Negroes' Deliverer" against the "Hope of the White Race," engendered bitter racial overtones. Upsetting notions of white racial superiority, Johnson's decisive victory caused racial riots around the country, and the film was banned in many American cities. Without reference to such tensions, this image shows an angular, honed Johnson, almost machine-like in power and precision. Produced by a Hamburg company known for its circus advertising (Adolph Friedlander Lithography Company), this poster heralds the emergence of sporting events as a major entertainment industry in twentieth-century global culture." "Who's to say
What's impossible
Well they forgot
This world keeps spinning
And with each new day
I can feel a change in everything
And as the surface breaks reflections fade
But in some ways they remain the same
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
There's no stopping curiosity
I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs
I don't want this feeling to go away
Who's to say
I can't do everything
Well I can try
And as I roll along I begin to find
Things aren't always just what they seem
I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs
This world keeps spinning and there's no time to waste
Well it all keeps spinning spinning round and round and
Upside down
Who's to say what's impossible and can't be found
I don't want this feeling to go away
Please don't go away
Please don't go away
Please don't go away
Is this how it's supposed to be
Is this how it's supposed to be"

Oi lienda.
Bella che fa?
Bonita, bonita que tal?
But belle, je ne comprends pas Francais.
So you'll have to speak to me some other way.
(Hello beautiful.
Beautiful,what's happening?
Beautiful, beautiful what's up?
Beautiful, I don't understand French.
So you'll have to speak to me some other way.)

The sociable kitchen in BSSR-House is a large (62 mq), inviting communal area for our family, with plenty of room to meet, have fun and eat together. A place for shared experiments in the art of creating wonderful food and great taste experiences. Our kitchen works just as well on weekdays, when everything needs to be done quickly and efficiently, as it does at the weekend when there is more time to enjoy cooking. The long and linear gas hob is seamlessly integrated into the worktop to create a sleek and modern kitchen design.
The focal point in the kitchen set-up is the work island, so that more than one person can work and prepare meals at the same time. Whether you are making sushi or an omelette. Combining the cooking and water points creates a more efficient cooking process while the linear arrangement of the burners is ergonomically designed for incredibly practical usage. The long and linear gas hob is seamlessly integrated into the worktop to create a minimalist kitchen design. The sociable kitchen with the work island in the middle of the room as the beating heart is our oasis in a hectic daily routine, where time can stand still.
Sometimes, someone says something really small and it just fits right into this empty place in your heart.

so i'm back to my jack johnson themed pics now. this is #7. i love this song for the main theme: "don't let your dreams be dreams".
i personally am struggling with this idea right now. i have always had a dream of picking up and going off to start my life somewhere new, fresh. and now i have the opportunity to make it happen. i'm going to try hard not to let this dream stay a dream, but to make it reality. :)
enjoy...

"shes just waiting for the summertime when the weathers fine
she could hitch a ride out of town
and so far away from that low town good for nothing mistake making fool"
¡Muchas felicidades Marians!
¡Es un placer seguir cumpliendo años contigo!
Y esta... para ti... 'Staple it together'
It feels right
It feels wrong
It feels like when you have it, then it's gone
I want more
More and more
And if you steal the fire
Give me some
Cause the sun
Disobeys while it waits for a friend to arrive from the past
What holds us around, and around
While we wait
- Jack Johnson, While We Wait
Soft and subtle today, folks. Soft and subtle. Or not so subtle. But ruffly. Definitely ruffly.
So I started a new book last night and loved it so much I couldn't put it down, which meant I didn't get to sleep until 5:30am. Not cool, man. But damn, that was a good book. Daynna, remind me to give you a list of some of the stuff I've been reading for when you finally finish (start!) that series I've been pressing you on. Tick tock, missy. Tick. Tock.
Had a newborn shoot today. She was an angel. I can't wait to process these pictures. But I'm way too tired right now, so for the time being, I'm calling it a day on photography and processing and I'm going to see about getting some dinner into me before I pass out cold. I can feel it coming.

I have to confess something. This whole flickr thing... I really love flickr because all the photos are so amazing and inspiring. But I feel so unworthy sometimes. I want to tell all my favorite photographers how much their work means to me, and how amazing they are. But I'm too scared to.
I've gotten past being jealous of other artists, but I often feel like my stuff isn't good enough. Well, I like most of my photos, but it doesn't seem like many other people do. I guess I shouldn't care, because the real reason I'm creating art is for me, I guess... And right now I'm not claiming to be a good photographer anyway.
I just thought I would let you know, because it's likely that you're one of the photographers that I admire.
[more versions in comments. I couldn't pick]
ok. so i've done lotsa jj tributes...12 to be exact. his music is important to me for the messages it speaks. and he is important to me because he's hot. but this is just a small part of me. so, tomorrow, my day 100 for my 365 project, i'll start new. my jj tributes are "gone" for now. but i may revisit in the future, as i have a few more songs i'd love to "do".
hope you love this song. it's fabulous, as are all the others.

"And cars and phones and diamond rings
Bling, bling
Those are only removable things
And what about your mind
Does it shine or
Are there things that concern you more
Than your time
Gone going
Gone everything
Gone give a damn
Gone be the birds when they don’t want to sing
Gone people
All awkward with their things
Gone"

A balmy night with lots of Mosquitos in a medieval Castle in Italy seems a long way from the sea for surfie Jack Johnson. But as Jack said 'my little 2 year old daughter, who travels with us, wakes up every morning and asks are we home, to which the answer is as long as we're together we're home'.
It was standing room only, no seats, which we didn't expect. So we managed to get these shots from the crowd...
Although this is named after a Jack Johnson song, it's got nothing to do with it, I just liked the single lyric "now I was sitting, waiting, wishing that you believed in superstition" I'm sure there's a story behind this somewhere, you find it :) Flickr sharpening has done something a little bit weird to this I think
Always wanted to do a poster for Jack Johnson. So, when I did I knew just like his music I wanted it to be upbeat, summery and just loaded with fun-ness! The poster is just two colors and when the blue and yellow overlap it creates the 3rd color being green. Happy summer all you Jack Johnson fans. Lately I've been spending a lot of time in the middle of the road :) I really love taking these shots, and I've figured out a couple of tricks for taking photos this way. Here goes:
- DO NOT DO THIS. It's particularly dangerous nowadays because cars are more quiet, and there are electric and hybrid vehicles on the road now, and they make little or no noise. That's the disclaimer. If you choose to try this anyway, choose a lightly traveled road and read on...
- If you have a battery grip (def on a Nikon), remove it. This will get your camera a few inches closer to the road surface.
- Prop the front of your lens so that it's not touching the road surface, otherwise you'll have too much asphalt in the frame. Your lens should be parallel to the asphalt, possibly pointing up a bit depending on your camera, but definitely not pointing down. I find that using a wallet and my lens cap stacked one on top of the other works great.
- Position your camera in a spot where it doesn't wobble or move. This means you need to have good stable road contact at at least three points of the camera, preferably the entire bottom of your camera and the front of the lens. This is *particularly* true if you're shooting HDR since you don't want any camera movement between exposures. The benefit of a steady camera for all shooting techniques is that if the camera is steady, you can depress the shutter without having to look down as you gingerly try not to move the camera -- this frees you up to keep an eye out for any traffic. When I'm shooting, I'm NEVER looking at the camera. I'm looking out for traffic.
- If you take any shots like this, please post them and FlickrMail me or tag me in them. I love seeing other people's takes on this style.

Not the most interesting guy to photograph (he barely moved or opened his eyes), but he certainly had the crowd singing along.

As some of you will know by now.. I've been talking over the past couple of weeks about starting up a new group for the New Year... as a follow on to last years Music Themed 'December Diary'. Those who were involved... will know the Diary is a project I have been doing with my dear friend Mister Tof for the past twenty years... We started doing it online in 2007 and each year have a different Theme.
It can be quite a demanding project... having to take a photo every day, especially in the busy Month of December... and I for one was absolutely exhausted by the end of the month. But it is an installed tradition for me now and one that is dear to my heart! Over the past four years we have had a few more 'Flickr Friends' come on board and join us... and I want to thank all those who took part in this latest one. For all the wonderful images, songs, stories and comments you all shared! %-)
I LOVE my music... and LOVE discovering NEW Music.. so thought it would be fun to keep the idea rolling over into the New Year with a less demanding project where we could continue to share and have fun!!! 'Music Monday' So I hope all my December Diary Friends will come on board with the new group... and any other of our dear friends who may be interested too. If you're keen to join... drop me a line!!! %-)
So what's this picture all about....? Well... I wanted to make a 'Logo' for the group, and my first thought was a 'Vinyl Record'... so chose the beautiful Swan Song logo from Led Zeppelin... It looked a little bit lonely... so I pulled out a few CD's to go with it. Some classic faves that I had on hand... including a couple that unfortunately didn't make it into last months project... and have included a link to a favourite from each of them! %-)
Ted was terribly disappointed with me that I didn't include HIM and HIS song in last months December Diary too... So I promised him I'd start up a new group especially for him... and his will be the FIRST song I'll post on Monday! %-)
