She did so well in the movie, "The Shining", when I did Jack years ago I didn't appreciate her as I do now.
So, even though I have (literally) not drawn a thing in many years, I was compelled to at least 'try'.
This was a mistake in the making... :)
This is a HYBRID drawing/painting!
Done in black and white colored pencils, then I photographed it to make it digital, (no scanner) and it looked so bad that it took me 3 times as long to get it 'better' in Photoshop.
EDIT
I just learned that you can use alcohol to make it look smoother, sure enough, after 5 drinks, it did look more smooth!
Really, using alcohol does really make it blend better, had I known I might have been able to make this look better with Photoshop.
I have not drawn a thing in at least 15-20 years, I don't know the last time, really. I didn't know where my 'stuff' was either, I couldn't find my good paper. So, I opted to use Watercolor Cold-press for that, It was a huge mistake, I thought that I could work through it and fix it later, but, it was not so easy.
(See the robe and the horrendous horizontal textures)
This is the result of a bad decision and having to BLUR and SMUDGE out a LOT of the grainy textures of that CANVAS paper.
I learned a lesson, I thought I was smart enough, but it's not so! :)
I'd have been better off to just start over rather than taking the many, many hours I took trying to make it look halfway decent.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This is Jack. Jack is our new neighbour who finds his lawn too small and comes regularly in the meadow of my sheep. I could imagine him as the fiance of my Pistache, but forget it, she really doesn't like him. I found her recently perched on his back and believe me it was not to give him a hug.
My favorite of the Jack Rabbit shots but those ticks make me itch all over.
I didn't dare open the door since these guys disappear at the slightest noise, so this was taken through the window.

At first I was disappointed that I caught Jack with his eyes closed...but then his expression kinda grew on me.

Ice jacking occurs as lake ice expands, a mile stretch of lake ice can expand as much as 3 feet. More pronounced this year due to the wildly fluctuating temperatures, forecast is between -20 and +5 C for the next few days....what to wear??
With heightened, almost spiritual sensitivity, Chambers captured a tender scene of his two sons in their pyjamas on a bright winter Sunday morning. Painted during the time he was diagnosed with leukemia, the work reflects a deepened appreciation for family life. More than a depiction of a fleeting moment, Chambers aimed to express the richness of his perception in a way that would resonate profoundly with viewers - a method he termed “perceptual realism."

I was on visit at the west coast town Esbjerg for a man that had been working in the harbour there. And this beauty af Jack up oildrilling rig was there, Mærks Highlander. Now standing quietly on it's "legs" filled of mussels and keyhole limpets, wind blown and affected of the harsh conditions of the North Sea.

Me faltan 3 exámenes.
Jack Snipe / lymnocryptes minimus. Minsmere, Suffolk. 13/04/14.
'CRYPTIC PLUMAGE.'
An image I made six years ago from Island Mere hide.
This little Jack Snipe attracted a lot of attention from photographers because it stayed loyal to the same location for days on end. With patience it could be relied upon to show, though always partially hidden behind reed stems - as is the nature of the bird!
I remember it spent most of it's time sleeping, typical daytime behaviour. Dozing peacefully, it seemed oblivious to the many eyes trained on it, all willing some action. However, once on the move, bobbing along, it often glanced up at the hide acknowledging an appreciative audience!
In this image it was bobbing up and down furtively behind some reeds searching for food items. With it's head inclined slightly and throat feathers fluffed out, it resembles a miniature Bittern don't you think ... or is that just me being fanciful?
