This is another one of my professional stage shots. This one was named after the contemporary dance routine pictured here. It just renders beautifully in black and white.

One that I love, but I wish I could re shoot it @ ISO3200

There's a tiny bit of clipping in the highlights; one thing I've learned is that you can't recover those in post. The reason stage photography is so difficult is that you have to make moment to moment decisions based on intuition and experience. Some lighting environments make it almost a waste of time to consult your meter.

There is always the balance between shutter speed, ISO and noise, where the D810 definitely has less leeway that either my D4 or my D750 but a lot more detail.

I was at F1.8 and subtly underestimated because a lot of my work is at F2.8. Still, I really like working with a prime and I'm going to be doing a lot more with my Sigma Art 50mm and F1.4. I would certainly love to try the Sigma Art 135mm, which is apparently an epic lens. I have an Art series 35 as well, which is fabulous. Here's something taken with the 50mm

"One photograph is worth a million snapshots..."

It's depressing that the photographers who make all the money are the cookie cutter, mass production people who do those smiling posed shots in malls and so on. Their work has no artistic depth or merit, yet people buy that stuff readily. I'm starving, yet my photography is of exhibition quality. What to do?

And the fact that an image of this quality can't get on Explore just goes to show that Flickr and Yahoo are full of crap. I stopped paying Pro fees when Yahoo forced me to use an email address I didn't want. Ironically, I still have to use my gmail address to verify my login to Yahoo every time.

This shot is better than most of the stuff I got featured on Explore before I stopped paying fees. These are my "issues".

I don't use the D810 much on stage. It's getting a bit noisy over ISO 3200 so I use it with primes. A D850 would be amazing but $5,000. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh Nikon. Donate me one and I'll be your slave forever. Seriously, I'll never defect to Sony.

On another note, isn't the 85mm F1.8G something else? The highest rating of any Nikon lens on DXo mark, including the 85mm 1.4. I absolutely love my Nikon gear.

Sometimes I have issues lol. A lot of the time when I get angry with taking photos I end up throwing my animated, chipmunk cheek smile on.

These are just because I was feeling cheesey today.

My thought on this is that the horse is mad cause he is left out hehe .

My 11 year old daughter loves horses and she told me i had to take loads of horse image and then she is gonna pick some out and hang in her new room .

For decades, US Air Force transports crossing the UK often routed overhead London on their way to and fro from Europe and beyond

A couple of decades ago new routes were designated for them which mostly routed them around the Capital

Having departed Ramstein in Germany for the USA, USAF AMC's 'Reach 2116' - Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy 86-0020 routed down over the Thames Estuary, South of London via Dorking to overhead Southampton and on towards Lands End

However, prior to going 'Oceanic' they encountered a 'Navigation' issue and took up a holding pattern just West of Cornwall

In the end the crew elected to return to Ramstein, ATC clearing them on a reciprocal track though instead of back via the Thames Estuary, their route took them on a more direct track via Midhurst and then Dover and on - just like they used to do

It must be the first time in at least 30 years that I've seen a C-5 on that route

Here, strobing well in the gathering gloom the Super Galaxy has just passed Midhurst at FL290

Apologies for the poor quality but at 16:59 I'm still amazed that at some 20 miles distant, I found it in the gloom though I was helped by the fact that she popped a small trail just beforehand

First issue of Playboy magazine, featuring a black-and-white photo of Marilyn Monroe (in a dress) promising inside full-color pics of her nude.

This first issue is the only issue of Playboy not to have the date on the cover. Hugh Hefner said he was not sure there would be a second issue. Also, this is the only cover that does not have an image of a “bunny” on the cover.

This is Jason a friend of mine who was kind enough to stand in front of my camera for another September Issue installment with DreamWorldPhotoArt. On his spare time he volunteers for Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, Farallone Marine Sanctuary Association's Beach Watch program, Point Reyes National Seashore's Harbor Seal Monitoring program, California Academy of Sciences and The Marine Mammal Center's Stranding network. He also received the award for "Volunteer of the Year" in 2008 on the national level for the work he did for Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.

Snow, snow and more snow, no matter where I go. So given the circumstances, pulled out the fastest lens I could, the f0.95 50mm on the Canon 7 and ventured out into the sub-freezing temps. I was a bit worried that the rangefinder was going to seize up at some point, or the film would snap (at one point it was about 4 degrees F) but no issue. Was smarter about gloves this time - I guess I can learn when there's (significant) discomfort involved. Thanks to all those flickeranians who continue to inspire us!

I am having issues with my MC Kaleinar-5N 100mm f/2.8 (Russian: "MC Калейнар-5Н 100/2.8") producing lots of spherical aberration which I think is leading to the overall softness of this lens. It is very soft throughout the aperture range.

Everything has a spherical aberration going on at f/2.8 making everything blurred and soft.

I hear that others have pretty good sharpness with their versions of this lens so I am disappointed with the one I got and I don't think it is an overall issue with the build. Mine is a later one with the rubber focusing ring. Perhaps I should have gone for an earlier version?

Had a tinker on Adobe with this one too. I think this is my favourite of the photos I've taken in the year or so I've been actively interested in photography as an artistic medium. It is by no means perfect, but I like that. It is one I come back to again and again, but can't quite define why I like it so, other than saying I like the lonliness, the palette and certainly Henri Rousseau.

p.s. Just remembered that I tried to hide the flash by making it strike on the UPVC rather than the windowpane!
