Yoken's Restaurant in Portsmouth, NH has an amazing #neonsign that was originally manufactured by C.I. Brink of Boston, MA in 1949. Although the restaurant closed in 2004, the #neon #sign was saved and later refurbished at a cost of $50,000 and reinstalled by the Portsmouth Sign Co. Of Newington, NH in May 2015. Although we took of a photo of this beauty during the day, it does light up in 4 different colors and is animated with the 🐳whales' tail and fins moving and even it's spout spewing water 💦! We got word that the original #vintage #neonsign has been removed by the owner, Al Collazo, who has owned the store since 1984. Once an old-school #pharmacy complete with soda fountain counter, it operates as a #diner with a separate #drug store adjacent to it. Collazo sold the #prescription side of the business to CVS in 2014 so it is possible that they decided the #signage no longer fit with their branding. Unfortunately the owner is not commenting on the whereabouts of the iconic #sign which is sad because we are sure lots of places including the Museum of Neon Art @neonmona would be interested in preserving the #neon! #signgeeks #neongeeks #type #typography #font #SignCollective #ig_signage #jj_texttypographical #ipulledoverforthis #trb_ipoft_signs #everything_signage #80sixd

So it’s like three in the morning, and I can’t sleep. God knows what’s tumbling around in my nut. Enough! I don some keep-me-warm duds, grab me gear and roll. Yeah. It’s cold out. After all, it’s the first morning of December. It’s supposed to be bloody cold! Anyway, with me ever-ready gear and still-snug self in my ice-cold rig, I head west. Out I-90 then US 2 along the BNSF. Scanner is lively: Seattle East has a bag full of eastbounds backed up from Latah Jct to Edwall: empty coal and oil, manifest, automotive. On comes the dispatcher again. “Automotive hold at Fairchild, Boyer West won’t be able to take trains until traffic clears up.” Cool! There’s my fish. Closing in on Fairchild I see the hogger has pulled his power nicely over the US 2 underpass still adorned with the Great Northern Billy Goat logo. Problem. However. The Air Base is too proximate to simply pull over and set up. And there’s a sign that says 30-minute parking on account they don’t like folks hangin’ out too long near the Base. And I sure don’t want to give the crew concern as to what some guy with a camera in the wee hours of the morning is doing taking pictures of their train. Best to duck under the overpass and set up for a silhouette and hope for some early rises to provide the leading, bending neon tube-like light streaks to incorporate into the otherwise blasé composition. Parked, shite together, eject, set up, compose, adjust, ready, and just as I begin my exposure a couple of small-hour risers pass under the overpass. Sweet!!! I hear the air release. Up ahead the target has changed color. “Just a few more seconds and I’m good.” Done! The ES44C4 and two NS Dashies begin to breathe as a ES44C4 dupe bumps the rear. A quick preview of the result: Nice! Gear and self back in me toasty SUV. Time to go home and hopefully get some sleep. Yup. Some fresh air and squeezing off a few frames is just what the foam-doctor ordered. Home. In the door. Hit the rack…zzzzzzzzzzz… (01Dec17 ©)

I was surprised to see water in the creek. We had an atmospheric river the previous week, and there was snow on the hills.
The creek bed was challenging to photograph; it was overgrown and muddy. I had to do some work post-processing to make it stand out even a little.
Capacity 26 oz. This gorgeous #vintage bottle was hand-blown in Czechoslovakia in the 1800s (its maker mark is stamped on the bottom of the #antique bottle). This thick and heavy blue glass #bottle is etched with a great logo of the long-gone Zion Bottle Works of Far Rockaway, Queens. Far Rockaway is a thin sliver of land jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean and began being settled by Jews in the second-half of the 1800s and is sometimes referred to as "Torah by the Sea". We were lucky enough to find this #seltzer bottle on the Lower East Side and now proudly display it alongside our vintage camera collection.
