Side note: The reason you search for files in the previous step is because iTunes places files into subfolders under the "Music" folder. You are welcome to go into each of these folders individually (I have 50 of them on my iPod) and copy the files out that way. It would be thorough, and you would get ALL of your files, but it would be very time consuming. By Searching for an extension, it brings all of the files of that type to one Explorer window and makes it easier to copy all of them at once.

With a bit of instruction from this guide, I got the battery installed, only to realise it was a dud. D'oh! A replacement is on the way ...
