One of my nieces asked me for an iPod pouch so that when she "brags" to her friends about my sewing, she has an example to show them. Who could resist flattery like that? Besides, she's a total sweetheart. She's studying French, so I thought it appropriate to use a lot of text prints, some in French, plus the fleur de lys pull. The lining is a French newspaper print by Suzuko Koseki. The first thing you see when opening the zipper is a pic of the Arc de Triomphe.
Many of the fabrics are from that sweet Paula (paulapatchwork).
The pattern is called iPhone Zip Pouch and is from projectsbyjane.etsy.com (and no, this is not a paid announcement). At 25 pages, it was very thorough. It used an unusual construction technique, which made it very easy to keep things lined up well, though I did have to keep running to my computer from my sewing machine to check what came next. At the very end I about freaked out, thinking I'd sewn it together incorrectly, but I hadn't. Turning it right-side-out was just a weird, two-step process. I'm very pleased with the results and highly recommend the pattern.
Now you can take LEGO to a whole new level! Test out your flight simulator apps with a "realistic" control module. Feel the power as you swoop and soar!
Obviously, it needs some updates. The belt is probably the best gearing system for LEGO. There is almost no "wiggle room". The X axis rotation is pretty good, but gravity causes it to be a bit difficult to control if tilted too far forward or backward. I still need to develop a firing system (I spent an hour or so yesterday experementing with conductive materials that I could integrate). That will be the most challenging function. I think it will probably use ropes and gears to counteract the rotation of the ipod. If anyone has a simpler way to do it, I'd love to hear about it. NXT would make this legit, but I don't have it.

I got bored in the hotel tonight, so I tried a bit of light painting. First up... the iPod I use for Audio Books.
The light was provided by my Leatherman Monarch 300 (single LED bulb) mini-pen light.
The wood grain laminate did a nice job of providing a smooth slightly blurred reflection.
Captured as a horizontal, it was cropped in PSE because I liked it better. The crop was the only post-procrssing I did to the image.

Apple released new shiny iPod nano's earlier this week. These ones however remain my favorite. I've had my Product Red nano for a while now - so its literally refreshing on the eyes to see it side by side with another of a different color. Its like this is a his and hers iPod shot.
Happy Weekend everybody.

The iPod Shuffle was last updated in September 2010, following Steve Jobs' annual music event in San Francisco.

I love the pouch that Amy made so much that I used the same girl on a swing fabric to make one for my daughter's ipod. She chose the red floral for the flap :)

I thought this would be a cute way to express my love for my iPod ^_^ I don't really like the edit; I'd re-do it but Photoshop slows down my Pc :|
When I fist saw the Zenith RE-10 I figured I had come upon the most obvious inspiration for the iPod.
I would have bet that the RE-10 was studied (or at least observed) by Mac industrial designer Jonathan Ive.
(.....well, I'm not a betting man and the similarities are most likely coincidence).....thoughts?
Turns out Jonathan Ive may have been influenced by the timeless designs of Dieter Ram (who designed many products for Braun in the 1950's and 60's). The Braun T3 radio is very similar to the ipod.....BUT it's also surprisingly similar to the Regency TR-1 which predates the Braun T3 by almost three years.
*** Then there's the Pakette crystal radio from the 1940's which seems to be the original pocket music playback device... look here..

My coworker Jessica's 4th gen iPod finally gave out, after years of faithful service. She has the brilliant idea to head out on our lunch break and give the iPod a proper funeral. I went along to help out.
But zombie iPod doesn't want to stay in the ground!
