I ordered my 20 GB iPod on Monday, and it arrived on Thursday. Not exactly the short time you'd expect when they tell you it will take 1-3 weeks to ship and 8-12 days in transit. Needless to say, I was very excited to see it arrive so soon.

When I tried to connect it to my computer so I could dump my iTunes library onto it, my excitement turned to annoyance, as I ran into a problem that ate up quite a bit of my time. After a lot of mucking about, trying many things and re-installing a bunch of stuff many times, it turns out my firewire port is not agreeing with the iPod-iTunes connection stuff. After I finally figured this out, I went around looking for a way to update whatever I could for the port, and I have come up empty-handed.

So as of right now, I have my iPod pluged into a USB 1.1 port, slowly aquiring my music library. I really don't want to have to be stuck using USB 1.1 on a 20 GB external device, so I figure I'm going to have to find some sort of solution eventually. I just don't want to think about it any more after spending hours fiddling with the iPod, iTunes, and the iPod updater trying to pin-point the problem and restarting my computer countless times, then fiddling with various settings in Windows XP trying to find a solution, followed by doing many many many google searches trying to find if I could get some sort of better driver for my FireWire port, and finally just deleting the current driver to see if Windows would install anything different in its place.

But hey, I did get a laser inscription on the back. :)

My old iPod classic was struggling to hold a charge and then it flat-lined completely. Well it is 18 years old. Got a replacement battery and prised it open - which you do on these old things. Now it's ready for another 18 years which is more that can be said for the playlist.

The card sent to work from our local radio station, we advertise with them. Wonder where they got the idea from?
