I love their delicious apricot colour.

iphone5c, drive-by snap on Roosevelt

When I was moving back to Chicago from New Orleans, my navigation system told me to exit the highway. I did as told and after driving on pretty and winding roads in either Arkansas or Missouri, I came across this. Definitely had to stop and snap a picture. I soon got back on the highway and did manage to hit Chicago at rush hour. But, in my navigation system’s defense, she was British and probably why she was confused.

When friends saw this, a new friend in NOLA said, "That looks like a scene from The Walking Dead. Stay away from the trees. That’s where the zombies are."

An old friend in Illinois said, "Your navigation system knew you like to take photos of old cemeteries. That’s why she brought you there."

I have fascinating friends.

"The iPhone 5c is a smartphone that was developed and marketed by Apple Inc. It is part of the sixth generation of the iPhone. The device was unveiled on September 10, 2013, and released on September 20, 2013, along with its higher-end counterpart, the iPhone 5s. The 'c' in the iPhone 5c's name stands for 'color'.

The iPhone 5c is a variant of the iPhone 5, with similar hardware specifications but a hard-coated polycarbonate shell instead of the aluminum of the original iPhone 5."

"Land of the Living Skies" is used on our licence plates for a reason. The wind system known as the jet-stream passes through our province bringing with it interesting cloud formations and an ever changing weather system.

Tonight was an example of why we adopted that slogan.

Pretty much straight out of the camera - used Adobe Photoshop Elements only to crop and lighten the shadows.

This past week it seems that the White Admiral have taken to the air in the backyard - caught this one on the cottoneasters.

Used Prisma: Femme filter - all in the iPhone. First for a Painterly effect - then used only a bit of a slide for HSS in Paint.net this time.

For - Happy Slider Sunday - HSS!

This tavern is one of a very small handful of remaining examples of French Colonial architecture in the quarter. It’s also supposed to be very haunted. I never saw anything to prove this, but that means absolutely nothing.

"Developed in French-settled areas of North America beginning with the founding of Quebec in 1608 and New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1718, as well as along the Mississippi River valley to Missouri.

The early French Colonial house type of the Mississippi River Valley region was the poteaux-en-terre, constructed of heavy upright cedar logs set vertically into the ground. These basic houses featured double-pitched hipped roofs and were surrounded by porches (galleries) to handle the hot summer climate.

By 1770, the basic French Colonial house form evolved into the briquette-entre-poteaux (small bricks between posts) style familiar in the historic areas of New Orleans and other areas. These homes featured double-louvred doors, flared hip roofs, dormers, and shutters.

The building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970. It is a rare extant example of briquette-entre-poteaux construction."—Wikipedia
