The Rievaulx (pronounced ree-voh) terrace and temples is a National Trust property in North Yorkshire has two points of interest - the Ionic temple inspired by the Temple of Fortuna Virilis in Rome, and the Tuscan Temple - a scaled down version of the mausoleum at Castle Howard. The name Rievaulx comes from Norman-French word val meaning Valley, and the name of the river Rye. They were erected in 1758 by Thomas Duncombe III.
The above picture is of the Ionic temple, the flooring of which came from the nearby abbey that was closed years earlier by Henry VIII. Inside it is a dining room, and below is another set of rooms that were used as a kitchen and living quarters.

Nuneham Courtenay, All Saints Old Church
In the 1760s the 1st Lord Harcourt built a model village along the main road, having demolished the old village and its church to make way for a landscaped park. This church was then built as a domed Palladian temple with an Ionic portico to ornament the landscape: its site overlooking the Thames is indeed magnificent. The portico fronts a blank wall and the entrance to the church is at the west end: inside there are 17th and 18th century Italian fittings introduced in the 1880s, and effigies and busts of the Harcourts.
