Unusual ionic capital in the new Southgate shopping/residential development in Bath. It could almost be a postmodern detail. I think this frames the entry door for some of the flats on the upper floors.

It's a big-budget building. No wonder it so often gets used in big-budget films.
View of abandoned Ionic column drums in front of the partially restored Ionic Stoa which was built in 50 AD by Tiberius Claudius Sophanes. The Ionic Stoa originally had thirty five Ionic columns in front and nineteen shops at the rear. The road in front of it was the spectacular and processional 100 metre long sacred way which was built in the Roman period and connected the Harbour Gate and the Lions Harbour. The back of the Stoa shops were bounded by the Hellenistic gymnasium and the Vergilius Capito Baths.

If a sub-layer of copper (II) sulphate and potassium hexacyanoferrate (III) is introduced into a solution of ammonium hydroxide and ammonium sulphate in a U-tube with the help of a suspended level bulb (dry vessel) and a DC voltage is applied, it can be seen that yellowish hexacyanoferrate ions migrate towards the anode and the blue-coloured copper ions move towards the cathode.

Working on the Ionic Gammatron for "It Came from Yesterday". This scene took me forever to build. Mostly because it was one of the first times ever building a CG environment. What a way to start!

Ionic liquids, or liquids organic salts, are new and interesting materials, used in a range of applications, such as solvents for cellulose, electrolytes in car batteries, and dispersing agents in paints. Most ionic liquids are very hygroscopic, meaning that they readily absorb water, a feature that could have a large impact of the properties of the ionic liquid. How the ionic liquid is effected by the addition of water is therefore a big research topic in a number of fields. The image show water being bubbled through an ionic liquid.

The Leasowes is a historic landscape, listed as Grade 1 on the English Heritage list of parks and Gardens of historic interest in England.
The site was designed by the poet William Shenstone between 1743 and 1763. As such it is one of the most important and influential landscapes of the 18th Century and is considered to be one of the first natural landscape gardens in England.
Today, the Leasowes is of major historic significance, ranking in importance with such landscapes as Blenheim and Stowe. It is the diverse landscape of wooded valleys, open grasslands, lakes and streams created by Shenstone that makes the site so important for wildlife. The site has been managed with nature in mind since the mid 18th Century and as such provides a wealth of different habitats for birds, mammals, invertebrates and locally uncommon plant species.
Designed by the son of the architect of the Bath Circus and on Brock Street leading from it, the Royal Crescent is comprised of thirty houses. Like a half-Colosseum, this structure uses a gigantic order of engaged Ionic columns on high bases. The idea of blocks of town houses like this and the Circus was very influential
