Wentworth Woodhouse is a country house in the village of Wentworth, South Yorkshire, and is believed to be the largest private house in Britain. It comproses two separate houses, joined back-to-back, forming west and east fronts. The older, West front is a baroque house of 1725, and the newer, Palldian East front, started in 1734, reputedly has the longest facade of any house in Europe, at 606 feet.
The Grade II* listed Ionic Temple is one of several follies in and around Wentworth Woodhouse park; the others include Needle's Eye and Keppel's Column. The 18th Century temple has ten Ionic columbs supporting a dome, with a statue of Hercules slaying a centaur. It was built in 1735-36 for Thomas Watson-Wentworth by Henry Flitcroft.

This is a fragment of a relief that depicts a temple on a high platform with Ionic columns and a tall staircase (perhaps one of the temples in the Roman forum). The pediment depicts sculpture of gods in a battle - perhaps the Gigantomachy.
Roman, discovered in the Via del Corso in Rome in 1923. 1st-2nd century CE.
On display in the Ara Pacis Museum in Rome, but part of the Musei Capitolini collection (inv. 1386).
£12 million was spent on the restoration of the gardens at Chiswick House but sadly the Orange Tree Garden wasn't included although the temple was restored.
Grade I listed. 18th century Circular domed brick temple with tetrastyle portico. Stylobate of seven steps, fluted Ionic columns, entablature with carved basso relievo frieze, pediment, round-headed arch, semi-circular half-domed alcoves to side walls. The temple faces a circular pond in the centre of which is a stone obelisk on a plinth.

-As its names suggests, the Ionic Order originated in Ionia, a coastal region of central Anatolia (today Turkey) where a number of ancient Greek settlements were located. Volutes (scroll-like ornaments) characterize the Ionic capital and a base supports the column, unlike the Doric order. The Ionic order developed in Ionia during the mid-sixth century B.C.E. and had been transmitted to mainland Greece by the fifth century B.C.E. Among the earliest examples of the Ionic capital is the inscribed votive column from Naxos, dating to the end of the seventh century B.C.E.

Circular Ionic garden temple, mid 18th Centuty, possibly designed by James Paine, for George Fox-Lane, 2nd Lord Bingley. Part of a formal early C18 garden laid out to a plan c1725-8 by John Wood for Robert Benson, 1st Lord Bingley. The Black Fen Pleasure Ground is a mile distant from Bramham Park. It is divided by alleys and vistas radiating from round points.

La costruzione del Tempio di Saturno iniziò nel periodo regio ma fu inaugurato soltanto nei primi anni della Repubblica, probabilmente nel 498 a.C. L'edificio fu interamente ricostruito a partire dal 42 a.C. da Lucio Munazio Planco con il bottino della guerra di Siria e restaurato dopo l'incendio del 283 d.C a cura del Senato: proprio a questo ultimo restauro appartiene quanto rimane del tempio, ossia le otto colonne di granito grigio con capitelli ionici di marmo bianco, l'architrave ornato sulla faccia interna da un motivo di palmette in rilievo ed il frontone principale, in gran parte costruito con materiale di recupero. L'iscrizione che corre sul fregio ricorda proprio un restauro eseguito in seguito ad un incendio: SENATUS POPULUSQUE ROMANUS INCENDIO CONSUMPTUM RESTITUIT, ossia "Il Senato e il Popolo Romano restituirono (il tempio) rovinato dall'incendio". Il grandioso podio rivestito di travertino appartiene invece al restauro di Munazio Planco, dinanzi al quale un avancorpo (oggi in gran parte crollato), internamente vuoto, custodiva l'Erario, ovvero il Tesoro dello Stato Romano. Sulla facciata orientale del podio sono visibili numerosi fori disposti ordinatamente in modo da formare un pannello rettangolare, sul quale venivano esposti i documenti pubblici. Nel giorno di dedica del tempio, il 17 dicembre, si celebrava, con scatenata libertà, la festa di fine anno, i Saturnali.

The Rotunda was started in 1739, the year of Thomas Wentworth’s death and completed by his son William Wentworth in 1742. It is a round Ionic temple. Its plan is based on the temple of Vesta at Tivoli, near Rome.
Another line of storms moved through. Got lucky Again! This time it was pouring rain. I had to shoot from underneath a tree, and was constantly wiping off the camera/lens. Shot on a tripod using a Canon 5D2 & Canon 17-40L. 2s @ f/11, ISO 100 w/neutral density filter, which allows you to time expose during the day.

The Queen Elizabeth II Great Court is a covered square at the centre of the British Museum designed by the engineers Buro Happold and the architects Foster and Partners. The Great Court opened in December 2000 and is the largest covered square in Europe. The roof is a glass and steel construction, built by an Austrian steelwork company, with 1,656 uniquely shaped panes of glass. At the centre of the Great Court is the Reading Room vacated by the British Library, its functions now moved to St Pancras.
