This is the first inside-out Lowell sphere I've been able to make featuring the standard "jumpers," the configuration commonly found on your typical SNOT-sphere. It was very tricky to put together, I spent a few hours working on one design, only to be stuck with a "dead end," where I couldn't attach any more pieces. I then opted to build the one shown in the picture.

It seems I'm fascinated with backlighting glass and other objects. I didn't realize I had the patience to set up these shots, but apparently, I do.

Is the title really indicative of this shot? Sort of. It's not wrong. However, you have to admit that it's a kind of cool title. Anyhow, we're looking a little closer at the strange little fly or moth that I posted yesterday. It didn't move much then and I doubt that it would have moved at all unless I disturbed it. If I had to guess, I'd say that this little guy really banks on the efficiency of its camouflage rather than its aerial aerobatics to elude predators.

Reproducción
Es evidente que se reproduce durante la primera mitad de la estación lluviosa, aproximadamente de junio a setiembre.
Alimentación
Escarba en forma vigorosa en la hojarasca en busca de frutos, semillas e invertebrados.
Comportamiento
Pasa la mayor parte del tiempo sobre el suelo, entre los matorrales.
Generalmente forma bandadas pequeñas.
Duerme en grupos en árboles o sobre arbustos altos.
Es muy cauteloso y furtivo, y se escabulle a la menor señal de peligro, ya que se agacha y permanece en silencio. Se escucha más de lo que se observa.
Habitat y Distribución
Habitat
Viven en bosques entresacados y en áreas de crecimiento secundario, inclusive en las prolongaciones de los bosques junto a las corrientes de agua que se extienden hacia abajo desde las montañas.
Distribución
Es una especie residente, a menudo sorprendentemente común en forma local en las partes más altas y húmedas del Valle Central y las laderas adyacentes de la Cordillera Volcánica Central y Cordillera de Talamanca, así como en la zona de Dota y en macizo del Cerro de la Muerte. Se localiza entre los 1000 y los 2800 m.s.n.m., en ocasiones más bajo o más alto. Puede estar presente a lo largo de la ladera del Pacífico de la Cordillera de Talamanca, y prosigue hacia el sur hasta la región de Térrraba.
Distribución fuera de Costa Rica
Se distribuye desde el extremo sur de México hasta Costa Rica.

Descripción científica
Mide 33 cm. y pesa 350 grs. Su apariencia es más o menos de gallina; el cuerpo es comprimido lateralmente, la cola es larga y arqueada hacia y forma una V invertida y la cresta es corta.
Los adultos presentan la cara y la garganta blanco anteado y el resto de la cabeza café. La parte anterior de la espalda y el pecho es gris pizarra con listas castañas, y el resto del manto es café cálido con marcas negruzcas. Las remeras son rufo oscuro. La rabadilla y el abdomen son café grisáceo apagado y la cola es café oscuro con vermiculaciones negras. El iris es gris claro, el pico negro y la piel orbital y las patas son rojizas.
En los individuos inmaduros el patrón de la cara es parecido, aunque la garganta presenta un listado fusco. El cuerpo es más café y más o menos salpicado con blanco, y las coberteras de las alas presentan un barreteado ante. El patrón de la cara y la cola es largo. Son los únicos entre las aves que caminan por el suelo.

Con la técnica del objetivo invertido, la flor mide 6-7 mm. calculo que el tamaño debe estar multiplicado por 20 aproximadamente.
My appreciation for all of you insect photographers grew immensely today. I added a 12mm extension tube to my EF-S 55-250mm Canon zoom lens set at 250mm to get closer to my constantly moving subjects on Sedum blossoms. What a workout to get a usable shot.
