The light was pretty poor when 858 landed this afternoon so I decided to invert the colours just for something different.

Another image taken on the French trip with Matt Toynbee, Sean Harding and Stuart Ball. I took this at Dunkirk, Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

As you can see by the image, this is slightly different to what I normally do.

I didn’t like the original so I thought I would convert it to mono but the image still didn’t jump out at me.

Then the idea of invert came into my mind, try to make it look like some kind of Negative but still keep the character. This is the first time I have done something like this and hope everybody likes the processing.

It took a lot of convincing to get me to cut her hair off. I have to admit that I liked the long curls on her better..... but she won't style it that way. She hates how it feels when it's long, and will always slick it back into a pony tail.

. . . . Is Christian doctrine, where it covers real mysteries, really a highly complicated system of orderly statements? Or is it rather a mysteriously simple thing of infinite fullness, which can be propounded in an immense variety of statements, while its mysterious and simple unity remains unchanged? So that man, faced with this multiplicity of assertions, need not be the victim of modernistic simplifications of religion if he finds himself as he really is, the being in face of the nameless mystery.

-Karl Rahner, “The Concept of Mystery in Catholic Theology,” 36–37.
