Research Log 02: "Chimney"

Though the "Chimney" may look comical, its presence on the battlefield is anything but.

Its main gun appears small, the punch it packs is devastating, capable of taking out a standard frame with a single well placed shot.

This elite invader seems to have a force field capable of withstanding all but the strongest of our weapons. It appears to have limited mobility however, having never been seen moving faster than a slow crawl on the battlefield, this may be due to the power drain caused by its other more powerful systems, or an attempt to mock us. Either way, operatives have reported it advancing through fire as if taking a casual stroll in the rain. Overwhelming this tough exterminator with concentrated fire seems to be the only way to beat it.

Note: One of my research staff (some doctor or whoever) has notified me that these things bear an uncanny resemblance to characters from some old classic terran TV show.

Paris : Invader Space Station

This tiny plant is growing in a crack in one of the planks on our deck!! Where there's a will.....

The battle mech watched the invaders descending on the screen in front of him. The graphics were basic, as were the controls, but then they didn't need to be anything else, they outlined the situation perfectly.

The odds didn't look good, but the battle mech would remain in this bunker, defending the planet with the bunker's laser cannon until all of the invaders had been destroyed or the bunker had been destroyed.

This was no game.

This vignette was created for the Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigs Series 9 contest as a display setting for the Battle Mech minifig. As required for the contest, this is the vignette without the minifig.

The Battle Mech minifig stands on the two studs in the control room at the bottom of the vignette.

See this photo to see what this vignette looks like with the Battle Mech minifig included.

Paris : Invader Space Station

Tile street art by Invader, seen in London, England. Invader is the pseudonym of a French urban artist, born in 1969, whose work is modeled on the crude pixellation of 1970s 8-bit video games. He took his name from the 1978 arcade game Space Invaders, and much of his work is composed of square ceramic tiles inspired by video game characters. Although he prefers to remain incognito, and guards his identity carefully, his distinctive creations can be seen in many highly-visible locations in more than 60 cities in 30 countries. He documents each intervention in a city as an "Invasion", and has published books and maps of the location of each of his street mosaics.
