The battle mech watched the invaders descending on the screen in front of him. The graphics were basic, as were the controls, but then they didn't need to be anything else, they outlined the situation perfectly.
The odds didn't look good, but the battle mech would remain in this bunker, defending the planet with the bunker's laser cannon until all of the invaders had been destroyed or the bunker had been destroyed.
This was no game.

I took this pic on a metal surface, causing the reflections.
My whole life with wide-eyed wonder, Fort Anne has been there. Scrambling up the grassy slopes, windswept view all the way to Digby. High hills watching for invading forces (like tourists). It gets crowded in summer, but come like I do in the cold, and it's easy to claim as your own. I don't think much about ancient history here, but it's timeless as you want it, caught up and never-changing. I'm constantly aware that I'll be history eventually, my own memories as lost as the next. There's a growing imperative to matter in the moment, to not outgrow our usefulness. I can't help hoping that I'll be alive as long as I'm living. Fighting back the winter, I believe that you can't help but be. We grow old the moment we let the weather tell us what to do, hiding away until the sun breaks. There's a lot more to life than being warm.

Hôtel Azur 11/06/2017 18h47
The pool of Hôtel Azur with a magnificent view over the baie de Cavalière confirmed the right choice for booking here for 2 nights. I took a swim and gave myself a moment to relax before heading for Le Lavandou for dinner and perhaps some late night space invader huning.
