Yes it's bluebell season and as I've still not managed to get to the woods, this one was captured in our garden a short while ago
I wasn't quite sure what the difference between the two species was, so I did a little research. It appears we have the invaders.
The native ones have a much longer, thin tube-like shape and as you can see, this is the invader. Still pretty in shape and colour but strangely proved to be rather difficult to get an image I was fairly happy with

Khertvisi fortress is one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia and was functional throughout the Georgian feudal period. It is situated in Southern Georgia, in Meskheti region. The fortress was first built in the 2nd century BC. The church was built in 985, and the present walls were built in 1354. As the legend says, Khertvisi was destroyed by Alexander the Great.
In the 10th-11th centuries it was the center of Meskheti region. During the 12th century it became a town. In the 13th century Mongols destroyed it and until the 15th century it lost its power. In the 15th century it was owned by Meskheti landlords from Jakeli family. In the 16th century the southern region of Georgia was invaded by Turks. During next 300 years they have owned Khertvisi too.
At the end of the 19th century Georgian and Russian army returned the lost territories and Khertvisi became the military base for Russian and Georgian troops. Khertvisi fortress is situated on the high rocky hill in the narrow canyon at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Paravani Rivers.

Doce de Octubre es una localidad argentina del centro de la provincia de Buenos Aires, perteneciente al partido de Nueve de Julio.Cuenta con 219 habitantes (INDEC, 2010), lo que representa un descenso del 13,78% frente a los 254 habitantes (INDEC, 2001) del censo anterior.La Estaciòn fue inaugurada en 1911 por la Compañía General de Ferrocarriles en la Provincia de Buenos Aires es parte del ramal Patricios - Victorino de la Plaza. Sus servicios cesaron el 28 de octubre de 1961 a causa del Plan Larkin
Esta localidad se sitúa en el cuartel IV, en sentido sudoeste con respecto a la ciudad cabecera. Su nombre obedece a manera de recordatorio de la fecha en que el Alte. Cristóbal Colón descubre el Nuevo Mundo en 1492.
En las cercanías del lugar, hacia 1859, el padre Bibolini decidió parlamentar con el temible Cacique Calfucurá que se hallaba con sus huestes junto a una gran laguna en la parte Oeste, sudoeste, con intenciones de invadir 25 de Mayo. Bibolini logra convencerlo de que no ataque y de aquí en adelante a esa laguna se la conoce como "Laguna del Cura".
Cercano a la localidad, también se encuentra la Laguna Loco-hué (lugar del Lonco o "cabeza", cacique)lugar frecuentado por los aborígenes, que luego en sus cercanías se establecería un fortín y posteriormente, una estancia.
Con la llegada del tren en el año 1908 a estos parajes y habiendo la población aumentado considerablemente, la Compañía de Tierras Franco Argentina "La Inmobiliaria", realiza el trazado del pueblo con fecha 10 de agosto de 1911 y al año siguiente se aprueban los planos y traza. Queda amojonado en 34 manzanas para pueblo y solares. El primer remate de los solares, quintas y chacras se inició el 15 de diciembre de 1912 en el vecino pueblo de Patricios.

12 de Octubre is an Argentinian town in the center of the province of Buenos Aires, belonging to the party of Nueve de Julio. It has 219 inhabitants (INDEC, 2010), which represents a decrease of 13.78% compared to 254 inhabitants ( INDEC, 2001) of the previous census. The Station was inaugurated in 1911 by the General Company of Railroads in the Province of Buenos Aires, it is part of the Patricios - Victorino de la Plaza branch. His services ceased on October 28, 1961 because of the Larkin Plan
This locality is located in the fourth quarter, in a southwest direction with respect to the capital city. His name obeys as a reminder of the date on which the Alte. Christopher Columbus discovers the New World in 1492.
In the vicinity of the place, around 1859, Father Bibolini decided to parley with the fearsome Cacique Calfucurá who was with his hosts next to a large lagoon in the west, southwest, with intentions to invade May 25. Bibolini manages to convince him not to attack and from now on that lagoon is known as "Laguna del Cura".
Close to the town, there is also Laguna Loco-hué (place of the Lonco or "head", cacique), a place frequented by the aborigines, who then in its vicinity would be established a fort and later, a stay.
With the arrival of the train in the year 1908 to these places and having the population increased considerably, the Land Company Franco Argentina "La Inmobiliaria", performs the layout of the town on August 10, 1911 and the following year the plans are approved and trace. It remains marked in 34 blocks for town and lots. The first auction of the lots, farms and farms began on December 15, 1912 in the neighboring town of Patricios.
Blue-winged Warbler. Michigan.
We were just starting out, I was standing stationary outside the vehicle, and the GWWA were singing, one on one side of the road, and one on the other, and a third a bit down the road, and I thought I heard a 'Bee Buzz' call coming from further off the right side of the road. I stood there listening and heard it, again and again, a bit distant to the chorus of the 3 GWWA. I was thinking either hybrid or Blue-winged warbler and carefully began walking thru an open grassy area to try to get closer to the call. We ended up in the shade, the forest at our backs, and the rising sun behind the trees, and the secondary growth habitat before us. Bee Buzz. Bee Buzz. Digital Plume Hunter saw him first. Just a Blue-winged Warbler. An invader into GWWA territory, and probably mated up with a female GWWA. Last year I posted a BWWA from my Michigan trip, but it was from an area further south of this GWWA area.
For those with more interest read up on how the Blue-winged Warbler population is moving north, gradually displacing the Golden-winged warb1er population, with cross-breeding, and the resulting hybrids which occur during the replacement process.

We met an invader on our walk this morning. Autumn Olive, Elaeagnus umbellata, is a hardy, aggressive invasive species.

I have been watching the old B&W western series "Wagon Train" on METV and found it interesting how our sensibilities have changed since it was a hit from 1957 to 1965 on first NBC and then on ABC. In a large number of the shows there is an American Indian on a hillside watching the train. The shots are always from the POV of the people on the wagon train. I thought it would be interesting to do an image from the other point of view and show what the Indians saw - invaders coming boldly into their territory. That is what inspired me to make this image for Sliders Sunday. .

Might be aliens invading somewhere, just not here at home. This is the tool box on my husbands truck.
Early morning "moonset" at the Buckeye Municipal Airport. The first rays of morning light warm the face of this Douglas A-26B/B-26B Invader. While it has seen better days, it still has character. Unfortunately, the local pigeon population has not been kind to this old warrior.

To our amazement the local Starlings invaded our small garden while we were both sitting on the lawn :-) A female came too close to focus with my 500pf
Invading Japanese Beetles are covering the slowly blooming Hibiscus bushes at the park. Very shallow DOF. Have them in other areas, as well. Always some but they are everywhere, filling the inner blooms on some. Tried to get photos of a bee in another bloom but didn't turn out well. That bloom was totally wilted later. Hoping for more blooms and bees soon. Very hot and not much rain recently so not sure how they will do this year.
We have a huge, empty field behind our backyard fence and these invaders want in. I wish the field was full of bluebonnets or some other colorful wildflowers that I could photograph, but then that would be too easy, right?

Space invader is back.
The pitch of the movie is the same as in round n°1 :
So I'm driving in the icelandic east fjords. Basically, I can't see a thing.
The cloud surrounding me is so thick the sunlight has become an abstract notion.
Until the next turn. From it and it seems magic, the sky is so clear that you should be able to see Pluto's tail.
Going along one of the fjords, I can now see the other side.
Except that I can't.
Another fluffly monstruosity is filling up the lower layers of the sky and most layers of emerged land.
That tells me that I should take my time going there, enjoy the sun for a bit, that if I couldn't see anything before, it must have come from quite some picturesque cloud if taken from the outside.

Il était tard. C’est un lieu où même en journée cela doit être assez désert, alors la nuit, la probabilité de croiser quelqu’un est quasi nulle. Mais, miracle, deux jeunes sont arrivés et leur présence agrémente ce cliché, j’ai eu de la chance.
Quand ils sont arrivés à ma hauteur, l’un d’eux m’a dit « dans le noir, j’ai vu une petite lumière rouge clignoter (l’aide AF), je me suis un peu demandé ce que c’était… » Bref, il m’a fait comprendre que pendant un instant cela ne l’avait pas rassuré :-) C’est vrai que sur place l’ambiance était encore plus particulière que sur la photo.
D’habitude, j’ai toujours l’aide à la mise au point et sa petite lumière rouge éteinte pour justement ne pas être repéré quand je prends une photo, mais je l’avais activée lors de ma précédente sortie photo et oublié de la désactiver :)
J'ai très peu post-traité cette photo. Presque directement sortie du boitier.
Looking toward the box office from the band shell at the grass and weeds invading the dance floor at the Starlight Roller Skating Rink and outdoor dance hall located between Toquerville and Pintura on the old Cedar City highway, parts of which are now I-15.
From the sketchy information I have been able to gather about this place, it was built in the early 1940's and functioned as both an outdoor dance hall in the big band days and a roller skating rink. The faded words over the band shell say Starlight Roller Rink. The oldest resident in Pintura tells me that the place was abandoned around 1953 just as the Korean Conflict was ending.
