Thanks Juvy for coming with me despite the sporadic weather. Blank skies today, fair the next day. Glad we noticed these isolated clouds wandering above the island.

I often come up with things the IT students can do in our digital art lessons that will make things easier to start off with. This one was make a robot from a series of boxes and, to make sure that it worked, I drew one first. Which is this. Drew it in Procreate, which is stupidly powerful and by far the most capable app on the iPad but one which has UI issues (IMO) which leave me with very mixed feelings. Its not the first app I tend to pick up but is when I want to test out a Bluetooth stylus.

It can be very interesting sometimes to try and find new ways to interpret old ideas. Digital painting works exactly like conventional painting, except the brush is a virtual one, and the paint takes no time to dry. Rembrandt was certainly in my mind when creating this piece, as I wanted to see how techniques of such different ages could be combined and create something new.
Rembrandt has also inspired my approach to painting more generally, elements such as his stylized colour palette and the wide range of expressive qualities he depicts appealing to me particularly.

Day 197. My husband spoiled me rotten as usual. We had a nice child-free evening at the Melting Pot. And yes, I had my martini's! Today I was lavished with Adobe Photoshop CS4 and a Wacom Intuos Pen Tablet. Plus he also farmed for hours in World of Warcraft to get me my very own Disgusting Oozling Pet. If you don't know what that is, let's just say that is true love. Now I need to get to installing it all so I can play!
For Love of Iris, is a product of the winter months, that being the period from about October thru February, for myself, having been brought up in the State of Maine, also not having Television until the age of Thirteen, I enjoyed art and imaginative time, of entertainment. this moment was a photograph gone aria thanks to the then recent purchase of the Intuos Tablet with stylus, it became a rendering of the moment !

This is a drawing of some freesia blossoms.
Freesia is my mom's favorite flower.
This was drawn entirely on the computer.
I use a Wacom Digital Pen Tablet to do this stuff.
Pretty neat huh?! :-)

Back in the 90's, Limp Bizkit had a trilogy of videos: Re-Arranged, N Together Now, and the most famous one out of the three, Nookie, which I happened to come across while surfing on the YouTubes. I hadn't seen them for a while, and I had forgotten how fun and goofy those videos were. So I did a practice sketch of bandleader Fred Durst with the puffy jacket he wears on one of the vids.
Even though I'm trying to depend less and less on contour lines, I think I'll keep using them on some quick pieces like this one.
