This is officially Nebula's Edge.
Acrylic and Mixed Media on Canvas.
This piece started out to use up this beautiful blue/black color that I had mixed up for other projects. It was all fun and games until I started to love what was happening. It really comes to life when it is properly lit to show the complexities in the color play.
Nebula's Edge has already found its forever home with a friend of mine after I told my husband that we couldn't keep it because we have no open wall space. We get to visit this beauty often.

endlich einmal wieder in gross malen.
I think that often when I am more aware of them, it usually means that the picture falls flat :-)

A spread in my handmade soft cover Coptic bound sketchbook I made with Bristol paper (imperfections abound, but I'm still able to make use of my imperfect sketchbook 😊).
It doesn’t seem possible for me to express with words all the meaning that is held within these two pages and the therapeutic process it was for me to create this self portrait doodle.
I intuitively traced my left hand—which holds a lot of significance for me due to the intense trauma I’ve experienced having profound effects on my hands, causing them to shake and do so many things I have very little control over as well as other ways trauma is linked to my hands—and used one of my favorite black pens to fill the majority of my hand with asemic writing. The asemic writing, for me, was a physical act which serves as an illustration of all the things trapped inside me which I do not feel capable of expressing with words. While there is so much intensity and awfulness trapped inside me, somehow I ended up including some legible words inside the outline of my hand. In an effort to shine some light and balance in the spectrum of truth into these pages, I used a gold paint marker to write the words “worthy of love,” which is the meaning of my name, Amanda. My horrific experiences and their awful, long-term effects have caused me to believe and feel I am completely unworthy and unloveable. It requires a lot of deep, intense work to try to believe the meaning of my name is true and it’s a God-given gift to have this beautiful reminder that, like other people, I am also “worthy of love”…it says so in my name.
