At INTERACTIVE Pavilion we showcased a variety of the newest IT/technology related products from hardware and software to digital arts and sciences. People enjoyed experiencing and seeing the cutting-edge technology coming straight from Japan.
The new Nike Store debut in our hometown, Turin. Slathered in lights, vibrant with music, the façade turns into a 4-story-high musical sequencer, where people can create their music in real time stepping up to the Kinect-fitted platform and conducting an orchestra of sounds and colors.
"Dandelion is a playful interactive piece that lets you blow the seeds off an oversized dandelion with a hairdryer. The piece was created by YOKE and London-based Sennep for Decode: Digital Design Sensations at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London 2009 to 2010. The piece is created with Processing and Unity. YOKE is an interaction design company that specialises in digital experiences based on physical interaction."
A card for the interactive challenge on Hero Arts blog. I copied the tri-fold from a store bought card my husband gave me for my birthday last week. I used my new background stamp (from Hero ARts of course) and an old HA daisy and butterfly that I had. Colored everything with chalks and added a little glitter. Thanks for looking!
As part of the annual BioCity Lectures, BioCity Scotland BioCity Scotland used an interactive PufferSphere M600 to display information about economic and business opportunities in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Scotland as a whole.

Not exactly an interacting trio here, but that is what a candid shot sometimes offers.
My Mom makes a mysterious gesture to her young photographer son, while my grandfather contemplates, perhaps, times gone by. My Dad is wrestling with a length of rope he just found in his father's garage.
I have no idea how many and what types of vehicles were sheltered here. My recollections are of a Nash Rambler and an AMC.
The powered machinery that I do remember were the most amazing collection of lawnmowers I have ever seen. I remember being told by my father that they were the money-making implements of his younger brothers. Upon recent questioning, they denied such meager beginnings.
Yazoo Big Wheel mowers were featured, but what particularly struck my fancy was a mower that resembled a large hedge clipper on wheels. I never saw it in action however, BOO HISS.
Every structure in this photograph is gone.
The place where many grandchildren feasted on handpicked grapes, blueberries, huckleberries, strawberries, fieldpeas, and caught brim & catfish from the pond is forever gone. A mere vacant lot. No more fond memories to be made here.
The small rice farming town is now awash in luxuries owed to the casinos that have made Kinder, Louisiana (known on highway billboards as 'Coushatta') into a place too busy for the slower paced, more meager pleasures of life.

so we sat down, after waiting a few moments at the door (they weren't open yet; this was our second Red Robin, we were hungry too early!) The table hadn't hardly been set yet, but she brought us coasters before beverages. Knowing they oft have quips, I immediately checked 'em out.
Sara pulled out pens, and we each went to town. Finishing nearly simultaneously, neither had noticed the other did basically the same depiction (down to the sideline notations!) 'Great Minds!'
The staff at Envision Interactive is going without shoes today so kids don't have to.

Creature design by Christopher Irvin, artist and independent film maker. You interact with his creature by pressing the buttons on it's front arms. They're all controlled by servos that move up and down so it's kind of a trip to try and interact with it. The base houses a computer which controls the servos and runs the interaction program & videos.

Sur des musiques de Bizet, « Les Toréadors », Carmen Suite no. 1, de Tchaïkovski, « Valse des fleurs », Casse-Noisette, op. 71 ou de Beethoven Symphonie no. 5 en ut mineur, op. 67, les maestros en herbe sont invités à saisir la baguette dotée de capteurs afin de contrôler à distance les centaines de jets de la fontaine. Ceux-ci jailliront au rythme des mouvements de la baguette et de la musique. Tout un spectacle !

Visitors to the Place des Festivals will have their first-ever chance to step into the role of orchestra conductor and play the spouts in the fountain, thanks to Maëstro, an interactive installation created by ATOMIC3.
Accompanied by the music of Bizet (“The Toreador Song,” from Carmen Suite No. 1), Tchaikovsky (“The Waltz of the Flowers” from The Nutcracker, Op. 71) or Beethoven (Symphony no. 5 in C minor, Op. 67), would-be maestros are invited to wave the sensor equipped baton and control the fountain’s hundreds of spouts, which will shoot water to the rhythm of the music and the baton.
Festivalgoers will have the chance to enjoy the musical, visual, technological and interactive experience between concerts.
Listening Heads, 2006 - Interactive video portraiture.
In the film shoot for Listening Heads, Kentaro directed his friends to act as characters which he thought would represent the nature of his friends. For example one of the friends was instructed to act as a stockbroker in Manhattan. The character was chosen to bring him/her-ness in body language and expression. According the character's nature, a number of scenario was created. For example stockbroker on cocaine is trying to pretend he is straight. Then these facial expressions of various scenarios were captured at a photography studio on HD video.
In the interactive video installation, the software responds to sound through the microphone, and talking to the microphone would trigger these different facial expressions, created from this scenario based portrait shoot, at random.
The facial expression (response) that is triggered by the viewer's voice (word/sentence) would make sense as a response for most of the time. Viewers were left to interpret the facial expressions in ways which suited for whatever they said.
This complete disconnections of two communication scenarios, one at the studio and one at the installation site, brings attention to absurd nature of language and communication, and context in which art works exist.
