This image was a combination of many long exposure images that I stacked in photoshop to create this result. Unfortunately the metadata, therefore, has been lost. I was shooting a 14mm lens at f/22 for various lengths of time. My first image, taken at twilight, was over 10 minutes long and as the sun came up, and the light intensified, my exposure time reduced down to 2.5 seconds. The wind was really gusty and I wasn't sure if I was going to get a clear image. I must say that I'm satisfied with the results and will definitely be using this technique again with my 14mm. Enjoy!

For those inquisitive minds that need to know why, the reason I do it this way is because I like the long exposure look but lack an ND filter for my 14mm. I can only expose my images for short durations without said filter and thus the need for the stack, to capture the entire sunrise and not just the peak.

Sydney, after severe storms in late April finally a break...

[I post this simple image for my parents.]

... and a hospital for the holidays. My Dad became very ill on Christmas Day, actually, and it was a continuation, in a sense, of some things that had been going on since late summer, intensifying all along as the holidays grew closer, and autumn quickly became winter (and for those kind souls who have gotten to know me a bit over the years, you understand that this is, essentially -- and to varying degrees -- a part of my daily life as a primary caregiver for my Dad, who has Advanced Dementia, and has been this way for the entirety of my life on Flickr). I realize that I haven't spoken much of any of this for quite a while now, for a number of reasons. But you have been so generous, kind, sympathetic, and so forth, with your comments over the time that I've been a part of Flickr, that it almost feels disingenuous to not discuss these things at least on occasion. The holidays were, in all candor, some of the most trying I've ever experienced. But after receiving some solid care at multiple medical facilities, Dad is experiencing a serious uptick, so to speak. That man is so freaking resilient, and I certainly hope that it's genetic! ;) But at the moment at least, I swear he's doing better than I am! So, the holidays were really pretty much a wreck, and I did have to consult MY doc on more than one occasion RE some bizarre incidents -- my body, evidently, is bloody well sick of the steady diet of stress/anxiety. But, they are my parents (even though they always jokingly referred to themselves as my grandparents because I came along as a little hellion of a gift when they were "middle aged" ;). As I often remind myself, and the multitudinous med professionals I deal with all the time: what more need be said?

OK. "Enough! Or too much"

Apologies for yet another rambling session. What's the word value of a photograph again? ;) If you've (for whatever reason) read this far, thank you!

And beyond that, I appreciate all of your kindness and support over my years 'round these parts. So once again, Happy New Year, and warmest wishes for a wondrous 2010! Prost! ^_^

The colour of this outcrop of rock really attracted Peter and I. The colour was intensified with the sunset. Olga

Continuing post from Storsteinnes, near Tromso, Norway, on a trip with Wandering Owl. As time moved on, the aurora intensified. Even with the naked eye we could start to see a red band rise behind the trees (we were looking east-northeast-east, ENE) and the show started! over the next half hour, the aurora intensified, eventually filling the entire Eastern sky with green Pilars emanating from a spot overhead where intense swirls of color were dancing. The swirl must have been a particle shower hit, and when it faded, it dissipated and the Pilars started fading from right above us back toward the ground, like falling confetti. the entire show took about 30 min. We were so mesmerized that it did not occur to me to run back to the camera and restart the capture... oh well (this is why I would always set the interval shooting to 999 frames in the future). I still do not think I could have done it justice without a fisheye lens!!

I will post a few more frames growing in intestate and two time lapses, one right of the sensor then another enhanced version. it was AWSOME. I hope you enjoy this depiction of the event. Get north if you can in 2025- sun activity is at its peak!

Follow the eerie path of Fall trees intensified by creepy mist, bats, bones, spiders, ghosts and inclement weather. Turn to midnight and have your sound on to immerse yourself in this spooky excursion. Approaching the house you will encounter a beware sign, this is your last warning! This haunted house is not for the faint of heart. Haunting footsteps as you approach the keeper at the entrance. Entering there is a spell library to your left, and disturbing dining to your right. Again, warning before you go upstairs! Disturbing images of horrific endings may not be appropriate for some guests. Exit quickly through the green house to the right, but not too quickly to grab your $1 gifts along the way. Find lots of spooky buys, and gifts to decorate your own Halloween projects.

Had a lot of fun shooting this with my girlfriend. She was just working in the studio one evening and I had my gear with me and decided to shoot something real quick.

A fine February day after heavy rain. The farm in the dip is flooded. Scottish Borders. The winter sun shining from the west intensifies the colours.

We had some wonderful weather during our latest visit to Cornwall, and the old saying, "Red sky at night, shepherds' delight" proved to be accurate on more than one occasion. This shot is straight out of the camera, and was taken just to the north-east of Looe in south-east Cornwall. The sky was literally changing every few seconds and the red intensified for a few minutes after the sun had disappeared from sight.

The meaning of tulips is generally perfect love

Tulips are by far my most favourite flower.

I am fascinated by their beauty from the moment they start to bloom and open, to way beyond their prime.

As these flowers mature, the colours intensify and they start taking on delightful new formations...

Romancing my viewers with a softer focus.

Thanks for peeking
