I mentioned in my photograph titled "Integration - 1" that the Fabian Way Park & Ride service in Swansea, operated by First Cymru under contract to the City & County of Swansea, was amalgamated into First Cymru's Service 8 (Bay Campus-City Centre-Singleton Campus & Hospital-Sketty Park-Hendrefoilan Student Village) from 17th June.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport was given statutory authority to coordinate, support and integrate bus and rail operations in its area - a duty that carried over to its successor TfGM. In the 1970s one of the more visible signs of this was the Saver Seven - a combined bus/rail season ticket that was in some ways an ancestor of the more famous London 'Oyster' scheme.
Saver Seven (with its cousins Saver Monthly and Saver Annual) was extremely popular and was a household name in Greater Manchester. The PTE promoted the concept extensively and we see one example here - brand new bus number 8072, in an overall paint scheme that pushes the rail part of the ticket.
You could get various levels of Saver Seven. All levels included travel on all buses in Greater Manchester, no matter who operated them; but the levels gave access to more an more rail services to and from stations depending on how close they were to Manchester. A zone one, for example, went only as far as Whitefield but a zone five ticket included every station in the county right out to far-flung Bryn.
Saver Seven didn't outlast the abolition of Greater Manchester County and the deregulation of bus services in 1986, but there are today integrated ticketing options offered by TfGM and contactless payment makes it mainly unnecessary to carry a season ticket with photo ID. But there are plenty of Sever Seven tickets and publicity posters in our collection to remind our visitors of this popular phenomenon.

Most lionesses reproduce by the time they are four years of age. Lions do not mate at a specific time of year and the females are polyestrous. Like those of other cats, the male lion's penis has spines that point backward. During withdrawal of the penis, the spines rake the walls of the female's vagina, which may cause ovulation. A lioness may mate with more than one male when she is in heat. Generation length of the lion is about seven years. The average gestation period is around 110 days; the female gives birth to a litter of between one and four cubs in a secluded den, which may be a thicket, a reed-bed, a cave, or some other sheltered area, usually away from the pride. She will often hunt alone while the cubs are still helpless, staying relatively close to the den. Lion cubs are born blind; their eyes open around seven days after birth. They weigh 1.2–2.1 kg (2.6–4.6 lb) at birth and are almost helpless, beginning to crawl a day or two after birth and walking around three weeks of age. To avoid a buildup of scent attracting the attention of predators, the lioness moves her cubs to a new den site several times a month, carrying them one-by-one by the nape of the neck.
Usually, the mother does not integrate herself and her cubs back into the pride until the cubs are six to eight weeks old. Sometimes the introduction to pride life occurs earlier, particularly if other lionesses have given birth at about the same time. When first introduced to the rest of the pride, lion cubs lack confidence when confronted with adults other than their mother. They soon begin to immerse themselves in the pride life, however, playing among themselves or attempting to initiate play with the adults. Lionesses with cubs of their own are more likely to be tolerant of another lioness's cubs than lionesses without cubs. Male tolerance of the cubs varies—one male could patiently let the cubs play with his tail or his mane, while another may snarl and bat the cubs away.

Video of a lioness and her cubs in Phinda Reserve
Pride lionesses often synchronise their reproductive cycles and communal rearing and suckling of the young, which suckle indiscriminately from any or all of the nursing females in the pride. The synchronisation of births is advantageous because the cubs grow to being roughly the same size and have an equal chance of survival, and sucklings are not dominated by older cubs.Weaning occurs after six or seven months. Male lions reach maturity at about three years of age and at four to five years are capable of challenging and displacing adult males associated with another pride. They begin to age and weaken at between 10 and 15 years of age at the latest.
When one or more new males oust the previous males associated with a pride, the victors often kill any existing young cubs, perhaps because females do not become fertile and receptive until their cubs mature or die. Females often fiercely defend their cubs from a usurping male but are rarely successful unless a group of three or four mothers within a pride join forces against the male. Cubs also die from starvation and abandonment, and predation by leopards, hyenas and wild dogs.Up to 80% of lion cubs will die before the age of two. Both male and female lions may be ousted from prides to become nomads, although most females usually remain with their birth pride. When a pride becomes too large, however, the youngest generation of female cubs may be forced to leave to find their own territory. When a new male lion takes over a pride, adolescents both male and female may be evicted. Lions of both sexes may be involved in group homosexual and courtship activities; males will also head-rub and roll around with each other before simulating sex together.
Pretzel, our youngest resident cat, instantly got on with the kittens. In fact, he couldn't wait to start interacting with them and tried to break into the room where they were held in 'quarantine' after we initially took them in.

It may be simple but i visualize arts integration as soap in water. When you pour soap into water, shake things up a bit, it mixes and you create suds plus add a little bit of color. In a similar manner when you mix the arts into other subjects you enhance learning and add color to it! Not to mention the arts help in removing certain obstacles students may have in understanding content; just like soap and water help remove smudges from dishes and other items!

Due to funding constraints, the City & County of Swansea has had to look at a different model for providing its two remaining Park & Ride services. Therefore, from 17th June, the two bespoke services operated by First Cymru under contract have been amalgamated into the company's parallel commercial services.. Thus the former 501 covering Landore is now merged into Service 34 (Neath-Skewen-Llansamlet-Enterprise Park-Swansea City Centre) and the former 502 serving Fabian Way is now covered by Service 8 (Bay Campus-City Centre-Singleton Campus & Hospital-Sketty Park-Hendrefoilan Student Village).

Managed to develop a fully functional midsection that bends and flexes. It uses two "linear actuator" like designs that are enslaved to a differential which can either lift and lower the upper chassis when locked or bend it side to side when free. Best part is, it will lift and lower the upper section *around* the cockpit housing, which will be mounted to the lower abdomen rather than the upper chest, much like how the original technical developer envisioned it. Or so it would appear to me. The plating around the abdomen is attached to a "spine" on the lower section, which should conform with the movement of the upper chest. It still needs some reworking since that frame is from yesterday and not fitted to the new structure. It seems to bear weight well, fingers cross that it works.

This shot, like the previous one in this album, was taken at a time of high flow rate. Nevertheless, a lot of evidence of columnar jointing is still discernible on the upper surface of the North Shore Volcanic Group basalt.
Of course, the columns farther back from the current spill face of the waterfall are still fully embedded in the bedrock, but you can spot their polygonal tops. Together they present quite a sculptural effect.
For more on how columnar joints form, see this post from another album. And for a review of the significance of the park's basalt in the context of the Midcontinent Rift, take a look at the description of this set's Part 18.
Finally, for an explanation of why this and other North Woods waterfalls have water that is tinted yellowish brown, take a quick trip across the Wisconsin border, to this post.

This photo is the landscape-format equivalent of Part 12, so it too was taken from Horton Covered Bridge and is looking northwestward and downstream at the Amnicon River's middle branch.
In my previous post describing this superb Midcontinent Rift site, I discussed the geology of the bedrock visible here, the predominant tree species in this spot, and one strange kind of mammal often encountered in the park. So on this occasion I'll just make a couple of ancillary comments as the random idea generator of my brain presents them to me.
- The wonderful splashy turbulence of the Lower Falls is tinted a light yellowish tan for a reason, and it has nothing to do with anthropogenic (human-caused) pollution. There is no stinky paper mill nearby. In fact, streams in regions dominated by coniferous forests are often colored brown simply due to their high concentration of naturally occurring tannic acid.
Pines, spruces, and firs incorporate phenol compounds known as tannins in their tissues. These serve as a chemical defense system against fungal and bacterial invaders. When the trees' old foliage finally drops off, precipitation soaks through the duff (needle-leaf litter on the ground), leaches out the tannins, is turned a deep brown by them, and eventually ends up in North Country waterways. The water at the falls has a lighter tint because it's richly aerated. But you can get some sense of the normal darker color in the water this side of the falls.
- At the bridge we're 100 m / 109 yd downstream from the Douglas Fault and the contact with the Chengwatana Volcanic Group basalt. So the Orienta Sandstone on view here shows little if any effect of the tectonic disturbance caused by the motion and friction of the footwall and headwall when the fault was reactivated very late in the Mesoproterozoic.
In this locale the Orienta is very thin-bedded, and its strata are much closer to horizontal. But at the lefthand bend in the river, the expression of vertical jointing and sheet exfoliation is the dominant surface feature instead.
You'll find the other photos and descriptions of this series in my Integrative Natural History of Amnicon Falls State Park album.
SET 4 – West Point Wal-Mart
Spinning around for a second, this view looks at the intersection of the left-side actionway with the rear actionway. Not only is the Sporting Goods department sign (somewhat) visible hanging along the wall in the background, we also get a really good look at one of the Pre-Impact décor’s directional wayfinder signs there near the top center of the image.
There are several interesting things to point out with that sign, such as how its placards are skinny in design (to match the skinny hanging pendants of the décor package), and how it’s a fully three-dimensional cube (Project Impact’s earliest iterations switched over to a hollow cube, while its later versions as well as its successors ultimately just wound up going with a new, flat, two-sided design). What I find most interesting to point out, however, is that “Pickup in front of store” placard.
Recall my theory from a few photos back (see here) that Pickup was originally in the back of this store, before later being moved to the front. That would mean this placard – and all of those like it, throughout the salesfloor – was custom-made to fit these outdated directories, given that this décor was long out of production! I have to wonder if this was maybe the sole and singular store to get such a treatment, in fact. (Even if my theory is false, in either scenario Pickup was still only introduced years after this décor package debuted, so these placards would still have to have been custom-made, most likely. You know me: I love attention to detail like that.)

Nomadic Monks: Spiritual Dyads and Triads in Rituals - Structures, Meanings, and Practices in the Rovingian Journey by Daniel Arrhakis (2026)
Nomadic Monks: Spiritual Dyads and Triads in Rituals
Structures, Meanings, and Practices in the Rovingian Journey
The Triad of Colors in Ritual Practices
The cultural and ritual diversity among nomadic monks is respected, but there is an ancestral triad of colors that stands out in ritual practices: black, white, and red. Black represents mystery and emptiness, white symbolizes the balance between light and shadow, while red expresses vital energy and ancestry. This chromatic combination is fundamental for facing the unknown and, at the same time, positions the monk as a diplomat between the physical and spiritual worlds.
The Trio of Wise Monks: Origin and Symbolism
The triad of monks, often called the "Trio of Wise Monks" or "Trio of Wisdom Buddhas," has Eastern origins, especially in Buddhism and Japanese folklore. This trio represents ethical principles of conduct, protection, and wisdom, becoming a popular symbol of righteousness and balance.
Meaning of the Three Monks
Each monk in the triad symbolizes an essential rule of conduct for maintaining inner peace:
Blind Monk (Mizaru): Covers his eyes to ignore the negativity or evil of the world.
Deaf Monk (Kikazaru): Covers his ears, closing himself off to slander or destructive words that contaminate the mind.
Mute Monk (Iwazaru): Covers his mouth and is careful with his words, avoiding lies, gossip, and aggression.
Rovingian Spiritual Ritual Dyads and Triads
The concept of spiritual dyads, especially twins, refers to two beings linked by a transcendental bond, surpassing biology to represent unity of destiny, redemption, or affinity. In traditions like Kabbalah, twins symbolize the balance between complementary forces, forming a dyad that seeks spiritual harmony.
The dyad can be seen as the union of sympathetic spirits, with timeless ancestral affinity, who walk together to enhance mutual growth. In the case of Rovingian spiritual dyads and triads, they are partners, siblings, or couples who decide to evolve and learn together, something common among nomadic monks.
Practical Function of Dyads and Triads
Beyond the mutualistic component, Rovingian spiritual dyads and triads often unite for practical purposes, such as rituals that require greater effort and collaboration in the face of adverse spiritual environments or powerful stagnant forces. These partnerships are essential to confront disturbed Genius Loci or situations of high spiritual risk.
Preparation is crucial: members must have experience working together, resilience, and mutual trust. In complex rituals, they are arranged in circular or triangular shapes, allowing everyone to physically connect, creating an unbreakable bond during the practice.
Structures in the Rovingian Context
Dyads (The Mirror): The union of two sympathetic spirits is not mere companionship, but resonance. The partner acts as a catalyst, compensating for vulnerabilities and ensuring ontological security on the journey through the unknown.
Triads (The Vertex): Applying the concepts of Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru, the group forms an ethical shield. In spiritual nomadism, ritualistic blindness, deafness, and muteness protect the group, allowing them to maintain diplomacy between the physical and the spiritual without being contaminated by the shadows of the path.
Conclusion
The vision of Rovingian spiritual dyads and triads integrates ancient ethics with nomadic pragmatism. By adopting the chromatic triad — black (mystery/emptiness), white (purity/balance), and red (blood/vitality) — the monk not only protects himself but also affirms his presence as a living bridge between planes.

O preto representa o mistério e o vazio, o branco simboliza o equilíbrio entre luz e sombra, enquanto o vermelho expressa a energia vital e a ancestralidade.
Estruturas no Contexto Rovingiano
