Here's one instance where I wish I had a real camera and the know-how to use it. This cherry tree sits directly under a flood light, so it's pink fireworks at night. What's even cooler is standing under it and looking up through its canopy.
Would "amid" have been a better choice than "among," in this instance.
All this talk of "scrub" and "wash" has got me craving a sponge and a bucket of soapy water!

Over the summer I came across two instances of night photography that stuck in my craw. A friend started posting images from night time alley ways where he lived. Simple but effective images of quiet alley ways with deep shadows, garage doors, garbage cans, and orange diffused street lights. Then a photographer named Pete Mauney came across my socials feed with his night time long exposure lightning bug photography and I was obsessed. The thing is, I wasn’t really sure HOW to shoot clear crisp bright night time photos. I have a lot of basic knowledge but thanks to memory issues and a head bump remembering that stuff is almost impossible. I started doing some research on YouTube, Google, and Reddit. I came away with a general idea of next steps that aligned to some photography basics I remembered from my film shooting days and this morning was my first foray into those experiments. The light trail stuff was just something I had fun with in the past with sparklers… also its fun to spin around in the street alone in the dark morning quiet with a flashlight laughing. I’ve learned some things and don’t have the words for questions on some others, but I’m going to write down what I can and figure it out and try again.
Flythrough, for instance, is a model based on the practice’s Telephone House proposal, into which a USB camera has been inserted. The camera moves along a set path through the model to show off the space in the style of an architecture walkthrough video, projecting its findings on a nearby screen. The twist, however, is that the model has been built entirely to facilitate its video – huge chunks of the building that would remain unseen in the video have simply not been built, with upper elements of the structure instead propped up on spindles to reveal the void below. It feels a visually inventive means of critiquing the manner in which architecture is mediated through images, and the display also gains spice from the real-world sustainability debate surrounding Telephone House, which proposes to demolish an existing building in favour of a new build. What within our current practice and discourse is hollow, what meaningful? Flythrough provides an elegant means of accessing these issues.

Supermodels - an exhibition of super architectural models by the Piercy&Co studio - opens 25 November at Regent Quarter, Kings Cross. Piercy&Co will install eight moving and animated models across the eerie setting of an empty central London building site. Supermodels represents the distillation of 20 years of the studio’s design thinking around the importance of the haptic, sensorial and experiential in architecture.
The mechanical automata, projection mapping, sound, light and scent employed by Piercy&Co in Supermodels are not the everyday techniques and products of an architectural project. Rather, they are a creative body of work and an experiment in how far the model can be pushed as a tool for communicating architectural ideas. The models were made over a five year period in Piercy&Co's London studio by the architectural team, between and around projects.
Each super model is based on a building by Piercy&Co - some built, some unbuilt - and abstracted to capture the kernel of the idea behind the building. The ‘coming alive’ of the models through film, sound and movement plays into the mysterious allure of objects with a miniature life of their own - the dolls house, the cuckoo clock, the model railway. The evocation of delight is intentionally egalitarian - an exploration of a mode of architectural communication that is ageless and universal. Supermodels seek to reconnect digital and physical worlds through a childlike sense of wonder and unfiltered joy.

In an instance of perfect timing, after the beignets we ran into the traditional easter parade (apparently there is also a raunchy Bourbon Street version which we missed). This event is all about ladies in hats and champagne. Luckily, we made friends with the champagne man on our way to the Cafe du Monde, as you will soon see.

The idea behind these images is largely described by the title. The period covered by each set is determined by the capacity of a 2GB memory card.
I've been shooting with a single focal length (50mm in this case) concerning myself mainly with the changing light through the day and how it interacts with the things I see on a daily basis. I don't view the shots until the card is full. The best are then selected from the card unedited and uncropped, exactly as they were shot.
Nellie was stopping traffic at Kelvin Grove this morning.
In the first instance, Nellie was taking her life into her own hands and trying to dodge cars on busy Kelvin Grove Road.
Carry on that sort of game of chicken for any length of time and the result will inevitably be disaster.
Nellie got lucky. She as rescued and taken to the safety of the Kelvin Grove Urban Village by an employee of the local bank who called the number on her collar and tried to locate her owners. No luck. So reluctantly she contacted council, left Nellie with a bowl of water and tied her to a pole with a note advising the pedestrian traffic about what was happening.
Tied to that pole, was sure turning heads. Just about everyone who passed stopped, read the sign and gave Nellie a quick pat. In many cases it was a much longer pat
She's such a gentle soul with big puppy dog eyes and dirty white paws. She's reminded me (not that I need much reminding) how much I want a dog.
Only a heartless cat person would not be moved by Nellie. Someone has loved her and cared for her and I can only hope whoever that is is relocated with this pooch. I rather suspect she's someone's best friend and right now whoever that is is missing her badly.

A weed is just a flower in the wrong place.

It won't last long once HFBB gets the lawnmower out again, but for now, I'm enjoying it's cheerful yellow face.
A rare instance of Celyn at rest. We'd wandered into the awkwardly named "National Australia Remembers Peace Walk", a monument we'd never come across before in these gardens. That umbrella was purchased from K-Mart a few months ago and proceeded to self-destruct within minutes of being opened. Somehow it was put away instead of being thrown out and Shay picked it up as we headed out the door for our trip to the Gardens.
There are very few instances where a marriage truly has to end in divorce. If you are asking this question then you've come to a point in your marriage where you may be feeling desperate for affection, sad, lonely or depressed. You are not alone, in fact I was there myself a couple of years ago. Knowing you are not alone probably doesn't make you feel any better, but most all marriages have ups and downs.

Here are two instances of the mosquito love I received while in Michigan. My lower extremities were popular with the skeeters, and let me tell you, they itch like crazy on the foot! I spent half of today working...and the other half scratching around the bites. Ugh. I hate skeeters. I think I counted 15 individual bites from the Michigan trip.
