Initialisée il y a 375 ans, Instance, intelligence artificielle veille sur Montréal et permet aux citoyens de visualiser ses activités de façon transparente. Tout comme le clocher Saint-Jacques, la Grande bibliothèque est répertoriée par l’intelligence artificielle afin de mieux appréhender sa ville. Elle numérise le bâtiment et démontre ce qu’elle analyse ; les comportements et activités des usagers de la BAnQ et de sa documentation. Instance démontre ses apprentissages par des représentations graphiques sur les murs de l’édifice. Suite à la mise à jour prévue le 4 mars, Instance détermine maintenant ce qu’elle veut montrer aux citoyens et impose ses choix. Accumulated Instances I 85MM
The idea behind these images is largely described by the title. The period covered by each set is determined by the capacity of a 2GB memory card.
I've been shooting with a single focal length (85mm in this case) concerning myself mainly with the changing light through the day and how it interacts with the things I see on a daily basis. I don't view the shots until the card is full. The best are then selected from the card unedited and uncropped, exactly as they were shot.
Downtown Wilmington, Delaware, is surrounded by several pretty waterways. This, for instance, is Brandywine Creek, an attractive little stream that flows into Delaware from Pennsylvania and meets the Christina River a mile or so to the right, just before the Christina flows into the Delaware. There's a nice little park that runs along the Brandywine through here, and I'd probably spend a lot of time along this stream if I found myself living in Wilmington.
Historically, Brandywine Creek was the site of one of the more significant battles in what I think of as the first phase of the Revolutionary War. This was September of 1777, when General William Howe was still marginally in charge of the British forces. Howe's army had hopped on the boats at Sandy Hook and sailed down around what we now called the Delmarva Peninsula into Chesapeake Bay, then disembarked in Maryland and made a dash for Philadelphia. General George Washington's Continental Army, which had just made a big show of how great they were to the people of Philadelphia, came out to meet Howe's army along this creek at a place now called Chadds Ford, about 8 miles upstream from here and just over the line into Pennsylvania. The battle was something of a disaster for the American forces -- an outcome far more common for Washington than a lot of people realize -- as the British managed to outflank and nearly surround them.
But Washington's great strength wasn't so much that he won battles as it was that he was graceful when he lost them. His army wasn't surrounded, and nobody just broke and ran in chaos. He had a small force led by Nathaniel Green and the Marquis de Lafayette provide enough cover for a well-organized retreat, and the Continental Army lived to fight another day.
Incidentally, this is where Lafayette took a musket ball to the leg, though he kept up the fight, providing cover for the retreat almost until he fell off his horse. This endeared him to Washington and gave Lafayette something to brag about to his friends back in France.

Through abstractions of architectural structures my images explore the contemporary visual rhetoric where the virtual and material collide. Throughout history painting is used as a vehicle to describe spaces and locations that do not actually exist. Now, we are confronted with new digital tools that are shaping the character of visual culture. In my work, digital methods and virtual space are confronted with the resistance and limitations of physical materials. The resulting images define structures that are synthetic but are rooted in a logic that is informed by actual visual experience. As methods of image making evolve we are confronted with new visual qualities that affect the way we see and consequently create models of “our world”. Through digital technology, strategies such as tiling, cutting, pasting, layering, and filtering have come to define and shape the character of the images in our visual culture. When these new systems combine with the conventions of painting, potent and exciting opportunities arise to both deconstruct and expand this contemporary visual.

Another instance where I am trying to improve my non-mad PS skills. If you look at the original, you can see that there were powerlines running through the top corner of the image. Is it obvious that they've been cloned out? How are the layers?

This instance no longer exists. They were doing renovations on this building for some crappy new chain restaurant. The door depicted was completed covered over with this strangely wallpapered plywood. What is so wonderful about this instance is that the hyperartist who made it bothered to cut out precise little slots like this for the hinges that he or she was rendering useless. Photographic techniques capture electromagnetic wavelengths beyond human vision, revealing features invisible to the naked eye. These signals are processed into interpretable forms using methods like color mapping.
Pink lacks a specific electromagnetic wavelength, while grey poses a limitation due to its representation of only intensity—a blend of light and dark without spectral specificity. Imaging techniques reliant on spectral variation produce identical results for greyscale images unless non-visible data is present. Deviations from this uniformity may indicate errors, misinterpretations, or unknown phenomena.
Contention persists over analytical debates, including dismissible claims like Van Allen belt dangers and contested evidence of lunar mirrors. The precision of laser reflections targeting a moving 3x3-foot marker on the Moon highlights technical skill but often fails to resolve skepticism. For instance, a 0.1° shift moves a laser spot 670 km across the Moon's surface.
Forensic analysis (2022, 2023) of Apollo 11–17 photographs assessed authenticity claims. Images of humans in space, Earth, and the Moon's distant views were validated, but Moon landing visuals showed variations, suggesting diverse techniques may have replicated certain elements.
