'Created' for the Macro Monday Group who's theme this week is 'Shell'. This is a mollusc's eye view of the world - taken from inside a sea shell, looking out - with a little bit added! Wishing everyone a HMM and good week ahead!
Looking back at this year, a lot of special Blythes came to live with me... but James remains the most special of all. Every time I look at her I smile because I am reminded of how she came to be in my possession. So I thought it was very fitting she got to wear this special dress featuring me & Malcolm (her adopter) first! :D
I'm falling in the black
Slipping through the cracks
Falling to the depths
Can I ever go back?
Dreaming of the way it used to be
Can you hear me?
Falling in the black
Slipping through the cracks
Falling to the depths
Can I ever go back?
Falling inside the black
Falling inside
Falling inside
The black

Teens are in an abusive relationship. And I've received a couple secrets regarding this subject and I'm not sure what else to do about it than to bring attention to it.
"I'm in a verbally abusive relationship with my girlfriend. She always tells me God is nonexistant and I'm a dumbass for maintaining a relationship with Him. She always putting me down, telling me how worthless I am. And since I'm a guy, there's nothing I can do."
"I love my mom even though she abuses me mentally and physically everyday. She constantly harasses me, yet I still feel the need to be by her side when she has a problem. So my secret is I just wish she would love me back."
"It's almost as if there are two sides to me. On the outside, around friends, family, etc, I'm a happy and outgoing person without a care in the world. But that's simply a facade for the true status of my being. My father abused me physically for 2 years of my life before leaving my mother and leaving my life. He made me feel like I deserved to be beaten, like I had screwed up my life so much that I didn't deserve to exist. I've been mistreated by many other people in my life and just flat out beaten down emotionally. Nobody would know it because I never let anyone know about my problems. I keep them to myself and I try to ignore them, hoping they'll go away. But they don't. There's a rift between my two halves, I feel as if they are barely the same person. So yeah, I've got a secret. On the inside I'm scarred and broken and torn apart and and not a soul in the world knows it. Besides you."
"Be careful. Love in an incredibly dangerous thing. You'd be suprised what you let slide when you're madly in love.
I let him abuse me on a daily basis for over a year just because I loved him.
Please girls, don't let it happen to you. And if it does, just talk to someone, ANYONE, about it."
If you are in an abusive relationship, what ever side you are on, please go here. Just take a look at it, figure out what's going on and GET HELP.

Since we moved there isn't much room for a true junk drawer, nor do we have much junk lying around at the moment. We do have this awesome cabinet with drawers! Something we didn't have before.
I do have a lot of drawers and cabinets in my head and everytime I pull one open, awesome monsters crawl out.

Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Derbyshire, England : Foot wearing a sandal- Marble object- BC 150 - BC 50
In 1839 the 6th Duke of Devonshire acquired this colossal marble foot, and he recorded its provenance: "The great ancient Greek foot was sold to me by Carlo Finelli, the sculptor in Rome: it belonged to the Quirigi family at Lucca and was long in their palace."
The foot is wearing an ancient form of a flip-flop and research has shown that this sandal is indicative of fashion in the 5th Century BC and was almost certainly worn by women. It is assumed therefore, that the feet were part of a colossal statue of a Greek goddess which may have stood approximately 11m high. It is thought that that the feet were sculpted separately to the figure and inserted upon completion.
In 1992 a chiropodist undertook further research and wrote to Chatsworth with an interesting insight. He considered the original owner of the foot was a wearer of slip-on shoes as all toes show signs of fixed clawing and being held together in a cramped space. The fourth and fifth toes also show signs of substantial corns.
There is a right foot at the Staatliche Museum in Berlin which is thought to match the left foot at Chatsworth. The right foot is not weight bearing as the heel is slightly raised off the ground which is typical of a relaxed stance. The weight of the body would have rested on the left foot.

No poder esperar
no querer hacerlo
o almenos, solamente a mí.
܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇܇
Not to be able to wait
neither want to do it
but even so, find ourselves halfway everything,
in the words of those who don't understand us,
and that will never do... (poor ones)
The fear that I have, that suddenly one day
be able to speak without lies. .. - could you imagine??!!! -
and not to be able to build labyrinths anymore,
babylonyan towers to jail you to doze.
so, keep you this way inside of me
I already have your boat and your ticket
to make you live there inside,
until the death takes both of us..
or at least, just me.

I bought these flowers at the weekend with the intention of using them for a few photos. Tulips never last long, they start to go leggy and droopy and then lose their petals. This made me think of the title life is fragile but also because we have lost two of our stars* this week. As everyone knows, David Bowie lost his battle with cancer at the age of 69, earlier this week. I have just heard that the British actor Alan Rickman has also lost his battle with cancer, he was 69 too. Two very different but influential men.
*Stars is not a word I generally use for singers, actors or generally for people in the public eye, I think it's a word people use too lightly but I really feel these two men shone out and brightened a lot of peoples lives. They will both be greatly missed. RIP

We went to see Micmacs a few weeks ago, a lovely French comedy by Jean Pierre Jeunet, probably best known for Delicatessen and Amélie. I like his style, all these three movies are instantly recognisable as his work. I still cannot believe that the same person directed Alien: Resurrection, perhaps it is someone else with the same name:-) My wife was slightly annoyed with me for taking an SLR on a visit to the cinema... Now we have a different issue: we are going to Greece for Easter and she does not want me to take the tripod with me. Does anyone know, can you take a tripod in the plane with you, or does it have to go in the suitcase?
Thanks for the visit, comments and faves! This is it, one more day and the week has ended!

This one was taken in late summer from the deck of a cruise ship about a half day from Juneau the capitol of Alaska. The sun was out when we made it to Glacier Bay National Park. The colors were pure and deep, I did not see whales from lots of otter floating on their backs. The mountain range was massive and wild. The glaciers are of course slowly melting away and you can see the retreating path. A worthwhile journey for people of all ages. Lets do the right things to keep these places wild and the planet a good place for grand children. Encourage your elected leaders to support clean energy sources and cut the carbon that is thinning out are one and only atmosphere. blessings. Get up, get out, get away from these liars
Cos they don't get your soul or your fire
Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine
And we'll walk from this dark room for the last time
Every minute from this minute now
We can do what we like anywhere
I want so much to open your eyes
Cos I need you to look into mine
Tell me that you'll open your eyes...

Once gain I waited until the last day to come up with a shot idea. Grrrrrr.. But I did have fun making it. And my son is now used to seeing me with a knife. Ha!
This was taken inside a shopping centre in Nanning, China. The shadows come from an Atrium above. It may seem strange that someone would use an umbrella inside, but many Chinese women don't want to get a tan (pale skin is considered to be more beautiful). An umbrella can be used to protect against the sunlight when inside or even on a bus.
