in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City.
St. Peter's is famous as a place of pilgrimage, for its liturgical functions and for its historical associations. It is associated with the papacy, with the Counter-reformation and with numerous artists, most significantly Michelangelo. As a work of architecture, it is regarded as the greatest building of its age. Contrary to popular misconception, Saint Peter's is not a cathedral, as it is not the seat of a bishop. It is properly termed a papal basilica.

I got a request for a cake with figures from a youtube clip called "Hippo and Dog" Her son goes crazy for them. I designed this cake based loosely on my award winning design It's a P-A-R-T-Y!! in the invitations colours.
I am firmly resolved that next year I will conduct myself in a manner which more befits my years and my station in life … yeah right !

I set out to capture the supermoon during the lunar eclipse last night, but unfortunately, the eclipse started before moonrise in this area and there was a low band of clouds somewhere past the Cascades that hid the moon from view once it did rise until it was in the waning stage of the eclipse.
I shot a number of images during this time and on two instances captured objects zipping by in front of the moon. I had read discussions on line of individuals photographing unknown objects that passed in front of the moon from somewhere in outer space, but this was the first time I had personally witnessed it.
The first object was quite a bit slower (although still quite fast) than this second object that I've posted here. Shutter speed was 1/1000th of a second and these two images were shot back to back in continuous shooting mode, which equates to around 4-6 frames per second.
The other object was smaller and harder to tell if it was man-made or natural. I think this one looks like a meteor, but who knows; perhaps it's one for Project Blue Book. Maybe it's a flying saucer and there were little green men inside of it.

The church was built in 1613 and was destroyed during the Chinese uprising in 1639.
It was rebuilt and completed in 1669.

Inside a beyond massive closed factory that is likely going to be demolished. Several million square feet that was still powered, heated & patrolled by security. This place is filled with tracks, conveyors & some robotics.

The Grand Foyer of the Opera Garnier in Paris. The opera house was built under Napoleon III by the then unknown architect Charles Garnier. The completion took fifteen years due to many interruptions, including the fall of Napoleon III and the Commune in 1870. The building was inaugurated in 1875.
The Grand Foyer, resembling a mirror gallery of a royal palace, was designed to allow people to have a walk during intervals. It was decorated by Paul Baudry and depicts themes from the history of music. The lyre is a much used decorative element.

The Temperate Palm House in Edinburgh was
completed in 1858. It is the tallest traditional Palm House in Britain, with a height of 21.95 metres. Designed by Robert Matheson, the glasshouse cost £6,000 at that time and was largely built of sandstone quarried at Bishopriggs, near Glasgow, with a roof of curvilinear iron rafters. The principal gardener at the time was a man called James McNab, who believed that solid masonry prevented rapid cooling and provided shade for the successful cultivation of plants; he also argued that too much sunlight was not good for growing palms, hence the front of the glasshouse was made to face west.

Wernberg convent perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking a bend in the Drau River. The building run by the Sisters of the Precious Blood is actually in part a Renaissance castle dating back to the early 13th century. Today it houses a nunnery, education centre and guesthouse with its own farm and a well-stocked shop selling its produce. This was where we had dinner before going to Villach for the night.
