I broke our glass baked goods dome yesterday and ruined the newly baked bread inside. I've been using some different methods lately but figured Jim Lahey's no knead was a great replacement. The loaves are always so pretty.

Etoile è la mia inquilina.Ci sono periodi in cui va via,altri in cui si mette comoda e ha voglia di giocare,allora è come se in cielo ci fosse un arcobaleno e tutto si colora.
A volte mi vergogno di lei,di portarla in società, e la lascio a casa.Le faccio gli occhi severi e lei si rifugia a dormire nel lampadario.Sì,vive in un lampadario,nella stanza più segreta della mia mente...
A volte invece sono io a svegliarla,a chiederne con insistenza la presenza,i suoi giochi,la sua imprevedibilità.Oppure arriva a tradimento e, mentre il mondo mi chiede compostezza e "ruolo", mi mette un sorriso agli angoli degli occhi e devo lasciarla fare.
Etoile ha una veste di seta di ragno e calze a righe colorate,l'una diversa dall'altra,
piccole piccole ali sulla schiena di cui si serve,a volte,in modo impertinente e, tra i capelli,mille campanellini d'argento.Quando li muove tintinnano allegri e mettono voglia di sorridere.
Così,se a volte sorrido senza motivo,so che Etoile si sta pettinando...
o vuole scacciare la tristezza che si avvicina alla sua stanza...
Etoile mangia come una fata...briciole di biscotto,qualche nocciola,
un po' di succo di mirtilli che beve dal mio ditale.Mangia nei posti più strani,ma adora farlo nelle tue tasche o in fondo alla tua giubba...se senti un fastidioso pizzicorino nei posti più strani è certamente Etoile che rovista alla ricerca di qualche briciola o che fa pulizia con la sua scopina dopo aver mangiato.
Fai attenzione ad accettare i suoi biscotti...hanno degli effetti imprevedibi,
perchè nell'impasto le cade sempre la sua polvere di fata.
Si racconta che possano far cambiare colore ai capelli e i signori perbene non amano i capelli color cipria.Si dice perfino che a qualcuno siano venute un paio d'ali in fondo alla schiena e che se ne sia dovuto andare in giro per un po' svolazzando a testa in giù.L'effetto per fortuna dura poco, ma negli orecchi poi ti restano gli acufeni di un riso cristallino...
Etoile adora regalare i suoi minuscoli pacchetti dei pensieri felici,sono così piccoli che si fa davvero fatica a tirare via il nastro e la carta che li avvolge,ma ne vale la pena.
Dentro ci potrai trovare un po' di pioggia,il rumore del mare,il suono di un carillon,un po' di pulviscolo preso da un raggio di sole...Lei è lì,rimarrà seria seria per tutto il tempo aspettando la tua sorpresa prima di volare via felice a confezionarne un altro.
E ha un'altra magia,la più bella per me...le ho visto trasformare in perle iridescenti le lacrime di un uomo, dopo avergliele raccolte in una mano...
The wind kicked up the dust this afternoon before the storm. When the rain finally fell, it literally rained mud. I probably didn't do the dirty windows the justice they deserve. Time to wash the windows but I guess I'll wait for the SNOW to stop falling.

of Antoni Gaudi's masterwork Basilica Sagrada Familia, Barcelona. Just before he died, Pope Francis venerated Gaudi which is a first step toward sainthood. Tomorrow (10 JUNE 2026), Pope Leo XIV will hold a mass here to inaugurate the recently completed tower which makes this the tallest church in the world. Construction has continued on and off for 144 years and is closer to completion now than ever before. Gaudi was a genius architect designing this church in the late 1800's using self taught methods that are sound even by the most modern of assessments.

This is another technique I've been wanting to try for some time, brush embroidery. I've always been really intimidated to give it a try, but it wasn't quite as tricky as I had imagined. My deisigns are a little simplistic, so I may try to improve on the designs a bit, but I will definately give this technique a try again when I need something elegant.

Next week i have to leave Italy and to go to Sweden!!! There will be a strange current local time: Sunrise at 3.39 and Sunset at 22.05 ...so i thought to make some eye masks, one of the best ways to get full, deep sleep.

Today's disorder is a very broad termed one. I am trying to go alphabetically an the only thing other than "eating disorder" that began with "e" involved feces and urine, so i stayed away from those.
Plus i think eating disorders are a serious serious issue that should be made aware.
Let me touch on the actual picture for a moment. i am well aware that my body looks totally deformed and ab normal... i did that with the intention of portraying how people with eating disorders usually view themselves. A deformed and distorted view of reality.

An eating disorder is characterized by abnormal eating habits that may involve either insufficient or excessive food intake to the detriment of an individuals physical and emotional health. The causes of eating disorders are complex and not yet fully understood. Eating disorders are estimated to affect 5-10 million females and 1 million males in the United States.[1] Although not yet classified as separate disorder, binge eating disorder[2] is the most common eating disorder in the United States affecting 3.5% of females and 2% of males according to a study by Harvard affiliated McLean Hospital. Bulimia nervosa was the second most common followed by Anorexia nervosa.[3]

There are some staggering stats that i want to touch on here, read them, think about them, and please please please, if you know anyone suffering from this, or you yourself are, get help, or BE help.

On walking into this room, it felt like all my passions for exploring abandoned buildings had been rolled into one beautiful space and moment in time.
It was hard to get in this location, an abandoned orphanage in the Uk, mainly because it had heavy PIR security to keep intruders away, many have gone to take photos, setting off the alarms and then rushing to take as many photos as humanely possible before the police arrived, records have ranged from 10 - 40 mins.
We decided to try our best to go in and out unnoticed, it was a harder route in and involved ducking and diving under PIR's but we spent about 2 hour's inside and no alarms went off.
I managed to spike my hand, climbing a fence on the way in, but no amount of blood would stop me from seeing this amazing place.

The auto deck on a former New York Bridge Authority ferryboat, now rotting away in the Arthur Kill. I found reference to the Authority running a Newburgh-to-Beacon ferry from 1956 to 1963, while it planned and built a bridge. That would make sense. Otherwise … why would a bridge authority need a ferry boat?

In several visits to Monument Valley, I've never thought to take a look at what these hogans look like on the inside until this visit. Really cool looking interior. It's a traditional Navajo structure built of logs covered with mud.

i usually prefer savoury food for breakfast/brunch, but a local bakery here in santa barbara makes a buckwheat waffle that is to die for! side of bacon for the salt fix.
i know i'm late to the game here, but i recently started a photoblog on tumblr to experiment with a different way of presenting my photos, please check it out if you're interested!
The inside is just as decorative with large religious portraits framed with pillars. The dome from the interior is lilac blue and other parts are colored orange and cream. The cathedral is not that old; it was restored and opened in 1975 after suffering from the earthquake of 1956.

On our second day of touring ruins, we got up early and headed to the Moon House, so named for a painting of a moon inside one of its rooms. While not the most picturesque ruin on the Cedar Mesa, it has a coolness factor that makes it popular. In addition to the preserved paintings, there is a fortress-like wall in front of the living space. Because of its popularity, there is a limit of 20 visitors per day, and you must obtain a permit from the BLM to explore Moon House. We were fortunate to be one of the first two groups there for the day, and had plenty of solitude to explore this and other nearby ruins.
Here, we are looking down the hall between the dwelling rooms on the left and the fortress wall on the right. Note the painted details on the wall above the doorway (left), the smoke-stained ceiling, and the voids at the top of the wall which appear to let light in and smoke out. FYI the moon room is the first of the 3 similar openings on the left, just left of center in the photo. Entry into the dwelling rooms is not permitted, but you can poke your head in and have a look.
