Grand Hyatt hotel's atrium, looking down from the Skywalk on the 88th floor. The building's anchor tenant is the five-star 555-room Grand Hyatt Shanghai hotel which occupies floors 53 to 87. It was designed by the Chicago firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM).
The Hyatt's famous barrel-vaulted atrium starts at the 56th floor and extends upwards to the 87th. Lined with 28 annular corridors and staircases arrayed in a spiral, it is 27 m (89 ft) in diameter with a clear height of approximately 115 m (377 ft). It is one of the tallest atria in the world.

I decided I am so much happier and more inspired when I just force myself to take as many photos as possible. I haven't really had the inspiration or time to take photos in the past months, and I really suffered because of it. Photography is my joy, my creative outlet, and something that I am truly passionate about. In this new year, I'm challenging myself to learn more, grow more as a photographer, and connect with other photographers and models who can help me express myself. I hope to meet a lot of awesome people along the way :')
We never really do breakfasts on the weekend, but we went to a local diner just to try something new.

I went by this building several times before I even thought about going in. For some reason, it never occurred to me that I might actually be able to go inside and take photos! Of course, I really wanted to go inside, so I was happy when Curtis told me that it’s no problem to get in there.
Next time, I think I’d like to go on a private tour and get some special angles and whatnot. I did get in trouble for using my tripod, but not bad trouble. Just a little trouble. A little trouble ain’t so bad…

As you might guess, this is my newest installment for my American Dollhouse series, shot in miniature again. This image is intended as sort of a replacement for my Ontogeny image, which I wasn't so happy with. Have I mentioned that shooting a real-life dollhouse and putting people in is pretty much the hardest thing I've ever tried to do?
I have a very flickr-related excuse for being away so long. No I haven't forgotten about photography...I've been working with my collaborator in NY on bringing this American Dollhouse photo series to life in the form of a live multimedia show! It's going to bring together everything I love- theatre, fine-art and even original live music. It's all very exciting and I will definitely be updating you all with the details as the project develops!
I've animated this image and created brief intro to the project which you can view here! The original music playing was composed by my collaborator Chris Barnett. I hope you'll join my facebook page and continue to check back to keep up to date with the piece. I think it's going to be really cool...many more previews to come!

Wenn der kleine Mozart morgens nicht aufstehen wollte, ging sein Vater an den Flügel und spielte eine Tonleiter.
Dabei ließ er den letzten Ton weg, und der kleine Mozart konnte die Unvollständigkeit der Musik nicht ertragen,
sprang er aus seinem Bett und vollendete die Tonleiter.
Ich fühle mich wie Mozart.
Dieser rostige Nachgeschmack der Unabgeschlossenheit.
Dieses aufwühlende Gefühl, fragmentarisch und ungelöst wie ein verworrener Knoten.
Irgendwie fehlt der letzte Ton meiner Tonleiter.

If little Mozart not wanted to get up in the morning, his father went to the piano and played a scale.
He left out the last note, and little Mozart could not bear the incompleteness of the music,
so he jumped out of his bed and completed the scale.
I feel like Mozart.
This rusty aftertaste of incompleteness.
This disturbing feeling, fragmented and unresolved as a confused knot.
Somehow missing the last note of my scale.
Doom is a special game for me. Forbidden by pacifistic parents, played in the dark when nobody looks. It is dark, dirty, scary, bloody and downright disturbing at some places.
And it has Cacodemons. Scary hissing death servants of doom. The very first thing in gaming which terrified me so much I immediately turned off the PC... good times, good times ;)
I guess this is turning into my signature cake. I've done a couple of these that I haven't posted...people seem to really like this one.

So I decided that I would make this week's "30 Songs in 30 days" submissions all based around Disney songs. This one, clearly, is based on The Little Mermaid. I realize that Ursula is in fact a female octopus but for today, you must overlook that detail, lol.
Little Mermaid was the first movie I saw in theatres (I was 4) and I remember watching it and being so freaked out at the end when Ursula comes out of the water and there's the big fight between her and the king. Scuttle was probably one of my favourite disney characters after seeing that movie too, he reminds me a lot of myself. Curious, a bit clumsy, and always on the look out for a cool thing to collect and share.

I know this cake's been done over and over, but I don't know who to give original credit to. Anyone out there in cake world know? This was ordered by my daughter's teacher to celebrate her parents 50th wedding anniversary. I was supposed to be doing a replica of the couple's wedding cake, but she couldn't find a decent picture of the cake. She brought a pic of his cake instead.
I need to upload more. I take photos daily of just my life and that's what I want to use my flickr for. Not every photo is "portfolio" worthy, but that doesn't matter. =)
I guess the views are a little intimidating. I get a lot of views, but not so many comments. The comments are from flickr friends and I know they wouldn't mind me uploading my daily things, in fact, they might enjoy it- but what about those vast unkowns?
It's intimidating, you see. =)
