Not too sure of what species...any ideas?

Maybe Blue-tailed Damselfly rufescens-obsoleta.

Live 10 shots handheld stack.

Stacking was a bit painful since it was sitting on the wood block vertically.

also known as the handsome trig, as in the subfamily name trigonidiinae...

have to say, i have no recollection of ever seeing one of these before and, at first, i was wondering what type of hybrid beast did i just stumble upon, fully expecting to have an impossible time nailing an identification down... ends up it's rather common in vegetation four feet off the ground and near running water and wetlands, neither of which would describe my backyard

a jumping spider tried to get the jump on her and she used those long hind legs to power off out of my sight for the rest of the day

They are commonly found in deciduous forests. The adult is 12–14 mm in length and has fairly long legs. This species is associated with wooded areas and they are often found in sunlit patches clear of undergrowth such as dirt paths and fallen logs where they hunt caterpillars, ants, spiders, and many other kinds of arthropods.

Actually, this bee is asleep. The way that he posed himself looks like he is trying to play the piano.

But wait! There's hope! Eventually the wasp discovered something that seemed better than snow and ice. :-)

an interesting family of flies these tachinids are - the bristles are impressive and the cross pattern of those on the face especially - not sure if those are interfrontal or frontorbital bristles, but they give this fly one of those faces that would make a scary halloween mask...

When you spend enough time taking photos of fungus beetles you start to notice the beauty in mushrooms.

maybe it's not sticky - don't know - but it must be sweet as this ant spent a while cleaning his dangly mouth parts afterwards

The small heath (Coenonympha pamphilus) is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae, (subfamily Satyrinae, commonly known as "the browns"). It is widespread in Eurasia and northwestern Africa, preferring drier habitats than other Coenonymphae. The larval host plants are grasses, notably sheep's fescue and rough meadow grass Poa trivialis.

though i'm not sure which one - guessing either an agrilus angustulus or planipennis, based on previous sightings in the same spot in previous years

Brintesia circe reaches on average 65–80 millimetres (2.6–3.1 in) of wingspan. Wings are mainly black or dark brown. They have a broad white band at the edge of the basal area of all wings and usually a second white streak on the lower wings. The black eyespots on the underside of the upper wings have a white contour. Brintesia circe is quite similar to Hipparchia fagi, but in the last one the second white streak on the lowers wings is always missing and the eyespots has a yellow contour. These butterflies usually rest on the branches of a tree, protected by their cryptic markings, but ready to take off and fly away when disturbed.

No sure on species from this angle, I find them tricky to identify. Lovely creatures though.
