Green Screen suits are surprisingly close to being 1 size fits all. A toddler fit into this suit earlier in the residency!

Still some small bits of work and touch ups needed, but I needed to take a break, so thought I'd see if there was any constructive criticism I could get from you fine folks!

In hindsight, got kind of an old school FAL look to the outline.

Engines for a space ship. Looks like something from an anime series.

I have absolutely no idea how to complete it.

Yes, I was taking my DSII apart while building this.

I've made 4 of these so far and I have many more fabric pieces cut but not sewn together yet. Thank you, everyone, for helping me decide on the teal background, and I'm gonna use the solid yellow for the centers. I'm embroidering them now so that they don't look too boring.

I plan to make 9 plates and sew them onto 14" squares of teal for a 3x3 layout (maybe make more for a 3x4 layout if I'm ambitious?)

I was on a roll... then I ran out of white thread >_<

Working on a little SELF-INDULGENT NARCISSISTIC resume poster kind of thing about myself. This is the progress so far.

VillAge 2 - VillAge InProgress

design / photography / edit by HuangFeiLung

VillAge is an experimental fashion research and design project based on the studies of Taiwanese village wears and documentaries that HuangFeiLung has been collecting over the years. In Taiwan like most modern countries, city people look down on the ones who dress or act like coming from countryside. It’s just about hatred in the bias of fashion world. The “images” they are wearing represent their background and personality which contain so many unique trends and forms that we should not feel shame about. I, living in Taiwan feel obligated to restore and reform my image of village wears that belong here. Furthermore, VillAge project is actually trying reinterpret these forgotten Taiwanese styles and cultural wears using modern fusion and imagination to create a new statement of Taiwanese old time fashion. By doing so, HuangFeiLung apply 2D Photoshop technique such as deforming, distorting, copy and paste and dramatic scaling on 3D cloth layout giving a unpredictable and strange mood, yet a façade of simplicity hidden beneath a chaotic surface. Visual paradox and off the trends are the core concepts in VillAge project.

VillAge 2 – InProgress is the second issue of the VillAge concept. In InProgress eddtion, HuangFeiLung continue the 2009 Trucker & VillAge hat design collection that found in the first issue and , this time, represent the designs with a series of completed look of VillAge with more details and accessories such as Table Cloth Jacket, Pin Bag, UV Clutch, and Net Sleeves.

my current work in progress! Moon, a custom star dancer/ebony hybrid (same skin tone so scalp matches exactly).

She's an airbrushed happibug with make-up in colors of gray, teal, hot pink and violet. Her lids are teal and gray with a silver shimmer and some tiny silver stars. Her ebony scalp is the true length in front and has been given a little sharper, layered bob in the back.

Moon is a loving girl who always cares about others. She is a great companion, whether it's just quiet time (she loves to read or just sit and think!) or out for an adventure on a photo shoot or a drive!

working on some mixed media collage at the gallery

My swollen arm! The upper and lower tattoos were placed in spots that go with the curve of my arm. The background will tie everything together and will make it appear more symmetrical. Background and color happen next month.

Ugly old trophy. Note the faux-wood contact paper. Classy.

I'm not sure if I like the extra green side stripe on the panel or not...kinda just looks like a ribbon...? I tihnk I'm gonna remove it and try something else...

The first few fish for the blanket. My ravelry page here.

I'm using this modification of the Knitter's magazine pattern.

(There's an error in the livejournal pattern -- I made a different correction, but the accepted one seems to be here.)

Riku's keyblade in-progress...for some reason, I painted the white foamie feathers grey before repainting them white...I just like crazy amounts of texturing, okay? XD I never said I was efficient or sensible.

textures by Jenny, helenina stock and Boreanlz; thank you for sharing:)

He's going to my office.

Pablo is checking the crib sheets for us.

the thumb actually has a proper angle on this version (which was one of the things I really loathed about the first claw...the thumb was literally just tacked on as an afterthought)

Started I think in June and it now covers about half my bed :)

I'm out of yarn (goa) for this right now, so it's on hold until my order comes in.

It's for Eric and Beth's babygirl, Tigerlily. The theme is the Japanese flag, though the blanket will be round, alas, not rectangular.

Notably, not all of them!

I'm trying to do the less meat thing generally, but also want to make at least one meat free dinner each week (certainly during Lent and hopefully beyond).

So this was our Friday night dinner for this week.

The potato cheese and leek bake is a big favourite in our house. We could eat just this really, and I've served this with some baked beans on the side before which goes well but I'm the only one in the house that likes baked beans (maybe that's what I'll have with the leftovers).

The burgers were an experiment based on a couple of recipes I've used in the past -- I prefer nut burgers to bean burgers but had some cooked beans that needed using up so made a compromise batch!

Cheesy Leek & Potato Bake

(based on a recipe from the Sainsbury's Vegetarian Cookbook)

2 leeks thinly sliced and steamed for about 10 minutes (sometimes I add kale or similar to the leeks and steam them too)

5 small/medium potatoes sliced thinly and par-boiled (could use a few more or less depending on appetite)

Layer the leek and potato in an oiled baking dish and pour over a cheese sauce, sprinkle some reserved cheese (or grate on some parmesan perhaps).

Bake for a bout 30 mins at 375-400 degrees

For the cheese sauce melt a good knob of butter (or warm other fat) in a sauce pan, sprinkle on flour and cook until toasty. Add in some mustard (I used honey mustard but have used other kinds in the past) and pepper. Pour in liquid (I used about a cup of chicken broth so this wasn't actually suitable for a vegetarian but I have also made it with veggie stock in the past, and with milk as per the original recipe). Bring to a gentle boil while stirring. Remove from heat and stir in cheese (I used 4 oz grated cheddar, the recipe calls for 2oz but we love cheese and I wasn't using milk in the sauce).

Burgers

(based on recipes from Mark Bittman in the NYTimes -- two years ago exactly it turns out! -- for bean burgers and nut burgers)

1 cup nuts (I used brazil nuts, almonds plus a handful or two of sunflower seeds)

1 cup beans and lentils

1/2 cup of oats

1 egg

1 shallot

1 clove garlic

some leeks saved from the bake

generous Tbspn of tahini and another of tomato paste

celery salt, paprika, basil

(I think that's everything, I meant to write it down as I went along.)

I put the oats and nuts in the food processor first to get them ground up evenly then gradually added in the other ingredients dryer first and wetter last.

Shape into burgers, I coated them in a little oat flour and fried them up.

They came out pretty tasty if a little bland. In the original recipes there's a lot more spice added but I was hoping my daughter would eat some and didn't want to over spice so erred on the side of caution. I think next time I'd certainly add more tomato paste at the very least. I ate mine with a bit of ketchup, my husband had mustard with his and that was plenty flavourful.
