A combination of inspirations here: the fingertip Popcorn brush, fountain pen and a visit to Cheong Soo Pieng's exhibition.
Painting and drawing with Chinese ink is great fun. Drawing inspiration from Cheong Soo Pieng's works which I saw yesterday was a delight.
This has been a fun exploration on many fronts.
Ink and Dagger / Sean McCabe in the era when they still wore the vampire makeup. I think this was in 1997 at the Unitarian Church in Philadelphia. They just had released that first 7 inch. Oh yeah I had to take this photo with strobe lights flashing and that whole deal.
water and ink- a group of photos experimenting with a water/ink mixture on a pane of glass. This is one of my favorites because its so much unlike the rest. I think im the only one who likes this one, however.
Just received my latest shipment from Goulet Pens today. Noodler's Habanero ink, Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng ink (came with a free eyedropper pen & free Kuretake brush pen), Noodler's brush pen in "Galapagos" (so beautiful!!!), Pilot Metropolitan pen with fine nib, and ink samples of Noodler's Blue Ghost, Noodler's Whaleman's Sepia and J. Herbin Stormy Grey (can't wait to see how the gold in it sparkles!)

Good Morning Smeared and Smudged Family! This month I'm participating in the Cracked and Broken Members Blog Hop and I'm using this festive Behind Digital image. Intentional or not it reminded me of Mardi Gras and while a bit "behind" myself since the celebration was TUESDAY [lol] and still think of this Holy Week as one big celebration!I have chosen to color her in traditional Mardi Gras colors and create a fat book page to crack and embellish. I am using a technique of heating up a thick layer of clear embossing powder, allowing it to cool completely and then cracking it.
Instead of the traditional technique where the whole surface is cracked and then inked, I also embedded a purple webbing in the molten embossing powder. Because the webbing melts when heated, you can see a few areas that I got the heat gun closer to to cause "holes." In one such hole you can see where I cracked the Embossing Powder as well! Today there is no underlying meaning...just a beautiful image and a fun technique! I hope you enjoy!

As an exercise in discipline and productivity, I began doing little sketches in a Strathmore pocket sketchpad.
I've been drawing ink bottles in my sketchpad a lot as of late. I suppose the attraction derives from the values created by the varying reflective surfaces of glass and plastic along with the shapes and textures. Fun times drawing this little bugger!

The general advice seems to be that everyone uses too much ink to start with, but I think I may have overcompensated and not used quite enough.
Mr Whiskers buried a tin of sardines for emergencies but fortunately he made a map so he shouldn't have any trouble remembering where it is. As for the eye patch, well, he wears it coz he thinks it makes him look like a real pirate. Maybe he should have told the cap'n he borrowed his hat though.
Mr Whiskers was done with inks and gel ink pens. Puurrrrr
Close-up of an old ink tablet the calligraphy master shown us. He said that it is roughly 1000 years old!! For this reason his house is a national treasure! He has tens of this things.
Ink splatter cat anyone? I used a reference photo of a Norwegian Forest cat i used to have named Waldo.
Looks like some of the dolls went to visit a tattoo studio over the weekend. It's not too surprising that Taiyo, Koji & Akira would get inked...but Koto & Akari didn't seem like the type.
The tattoos are actually transfers from an Easter egg coloring kit. You cut out the decal on the plastic sheet and then scratch it onto whatever you want to put it on. I've sealed the "tattoos" but they can be removed with the magic eraser sponge.
