I am not a fan of tattoos but I have to admit I found this guy's tattoos interesting.
A wonderful display of the indigenous culture, they had 3 beautiful days of dancing and entertainment.

Today. Urban Sketchers Australia in Sydney are going to Cockatoo Island In Sydney Habour on a Crane Crawl - to draw the industrial cranes that were left there from when it was a shipyard. We have been planning this for a long time and I have wanted to draw on bigger (than my Moleskine watercolour sketchbook) paper and with different materials. I am taking ink bottles, the bamboo pen Liz bought back from Singapore, Neocolour Soluble crayons, Conte charcoal sticks and some heavy graphite pencils.
Which ones will I use? - who knows...... watch this space.....
Most effective seen at original size.
Small 5x7 note card sketch with a small brush & India ink.
As I recall, this was quick sketch based upon a Rembrandt ink study
for the purpose of learning speed in washes with a few fine details at the end
with the point of the brush.
Oh, I see there are a few touches of white gouache.
Playing around with a large vase and some drawing ink. Using a pipet to drop the ink into a water filed vase created these shapes.

Just wanted to introduce a whole serie about japanese tattoo.
The whole serie was made using a Mamiya RB67 pro-S and Ilford HP5 film.

The botlles contain various inks, the jars are full of pre-mixed ink & water solution for the waterbrushes. The assorted colour solutions all contain at least one ink colour, plus of course, water. The inks from different manufacturers seem to mix with with each other without any problems – but they are all fountain pen inks.
A fun little piece that reminds me of fish bones in the sun. The polymer clay base using the watercolor technique. After carving, alcohol inks were used to enrich the colors.
An illustration I have been working on. Will ultimately be part of a t-shirt design, but I like it all by itself.
I did a couple experiments and practices on this painting. The main one is to see how the saturated mixture and the pure ink react to the hot air from the embossing heat gun, that is applied in different directions and exposure time.
Ink on paper, just drawing till something comes out. I see two falcons on the head of a skull type face, but the imagination is up to you.
Materials? Oh boy...
...Noodler's, Diamine, Montblanc, Platinum, Private Reserve. J. Herbin and Montblanc inks on Stillman & Birn, Zeta paper.
Between speakers there is enough time for capturing those impromptu moments from the little guests attending 'Science at the Local'.
I pulled out three older clay pieces made using Maggie Maggio's watercolor technique. I love the colors, but the pieces themselves were not very interesting. After seeing Nikolina Otrzan's work under the name of Orsan's World, I decided to add some detail using black inks. I had trouble getting the ink to set, so I cured it in the oven at 275 degrees for 30 minutes...it worked! I treated the surface with Renaissance wax. It's a good start.
I love the layers and detail in this 1"x3" pendant...makes me think of the layers of the earth.

These wings seem to be scattered about looking like one of those ink blot tests.
