INKED SENSUAL by magistus.photography from my first shooting with ths wonderful tattoo model (2024/08)

An ink imprint of Grace's foot was stamped into the book that was later circulated round for everyone to add their own message to grace.

Books often symbolise authority. The intention here was that the book was to encourage Grace to use any authority she gains to better peoples lives and not opress them.

The ink from a pen was meant as a reminder to Grace to put her pen to good use and not destroy people with her words.

2010 - Printed at Columbia Book & Paper Arts workshop that was led by Jim and Bill Moran of Hamilton Wood Type. Our instructors brought an amazing collection of 1930-1950 era advertising blocks/cuts acquired from Globe Printing of Chicago. (This was subsequently used by Target for a new apparel collection).

Macro Monday's theme this week is "Old/New" so I pulled out a few pens from my Art Bin. Some modern ink pens are completely used on computers these days, some are retractable and inexpensive. I still enjoy using the old style pens and creating pen and ink drawings oin a sketch book. I'm not saying that I haven't used a tablet and pressure sensitive pen on my computer though.

Boredom, like always, has driven me into messing around with whatever was in my sight. This time, it was an ink jar.

This jar has been on my desk for months and actually it was once empty. However, because some of my pens like to have their revenge on me and leak the ink, I thought of collecting it instead of putting them out of their misery. :P Well, until today, that is. ... Though my hands and the desk became badly inked through out the process of setting up the environment for the shot. So I think they actually did have their revenge after all. :/

This shot came through 25 other competitors. I, of course, was the judge, so hope you like it. :)

Drawn ink straight in...lead free...:)

Approx. size; 5.5" X 5.5"

Drop of ink in a glass. Illuminated from below with a LED light. First and quick try of something like this, suprisingly turned out quite nice.

Photographed ink in water, cropped an interesting section of it, copied the section 4 times, flipped/rotated the sections, and viola!

Jim has steadily collected tattoos over 20 years, with the first ink being done on his upper arms. More recently, he had a portrait of his parents on their wedding day tattooed on his right chest as a tribute to his late father, and very extensive fantasy artwork spread across his back.
