Apartheid is the reason for the whole South African disaster. No doubt: the apartheid policy is responsible for the racial tensions. The black race is excluded from a lot of places, e.g. at the bayside like indicated on this sign-post. (06/23/76)(AP PHOTO)

I started with the symbolism associated with the clam shell – fertility, birth, beauty and love, I then thought of an object that I could associate with the themes of fertility and birth; I thought pregnancy tests were appropriated as they indicate fertility and birth in one, and so I redisplayed the clear blue pregnancy test logo onto a shell, a new combination of semantic symbolism.

There are strong indications that traders of Igbo origin may shut down Nigeria economy tomorrow following the second appearance of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Federal High Court, Abuja after being caught and brought to Nigeria on June 27, 2021.

Information from Onitsha markets in Anambra state, Ogbete main market in Enugu state amongst others in the Southeastern states indicated that traders were seriously warned on Friday not to open shops on Monday 26, July , 2021.

The information indicated that traders in the markets were also urged to travel to Abuja in solidarity with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as he appears in court tomorrow.

OsazuwaAkonedo reports that traders in the southeastern states for years have a tradition of observing every Monday as prayer day which usually last up to 10 to 11 a.m before opening for business.

It is yet to ascertain if commercial drivers will join in the seat at home or go to Abuja order.

There are concerns that if commercial drivers join the move, such action may force corporate organizations not to open for business in the southeastern states.

I've visited Bosbury church at least three or four times in recent years and it never disappoints, a church full of interest and remarkable in appearance, the first indication of this being the massive detached red sandstone tower that stands like a fortress at the edge of the churchyard beside the roadside, some distance from the main body of the church. It is a huge great block, like the keep of some ancient castle had been planted in a rural Herefordshire churchyard as a sentinel to watch over it, and indeed being border territory in medieval times that was largely the thinking behind it.

Holy Trinity church itself is a substantial building even without an attached tower, and dates mostly from the Transitional period, being a mix of late Norman and early Gothic styles. The only part that clearly does not belong to this phase is the Morton chantry on the south side, which erupts from the south aisle in a burst of Perpendicular traceried windows and battlements.

Inside the church feels uncommonly large for a parish church, and the nave arcades clearly evoke the stylistic cusp of the Transitional 1200s, being pointed arches but springing from Norman-style capitals. The ancient font has recently been reinstated at the west end of the nave, having been in the south aisle on my previous visits. The Morton Chantry is a delight inside, replete with a delicate late medieval vaulted ceiling with pendant bosses including a rebus of the deceased.

The most memorable features inside Bosbury church however aren't revealed until one progresses to the chancel, where this great dark space is dominated by two huge Renaissance style monuments flanking the sanctuary. They are the work of one John Guldo of Hereford, who may have been of continental origin as the style of these tombs is of a type not commonly seen here but more so in Northern Europe. The tombs of the Harford family commemorate father and son respectively, and of the two that on the north side is by far the richest in terms of its exuberant detail. There is a rustic quality to the carving, but it is nevertheless a florid and impressive display like no other.

This is one of those churches one shouldn't miss if exploring the area as it is rather special, and happily is normally open and welcoming to visitors (even on this my most recent visit, when other churches nearby were still reluctant to reopen after Lockdown).

The dried pallets of cement have gone, but other than that no change in just over 11 years. That's in indication of mess of the Spanish property market.

10 February 2013...

"These two pallets of powered render have been here for years. The weather has got to them and turned them solid.

Like many property developments along the Costa Del Sol, this one lies abandoned.

The developer has has gone bust. The vegetation grows un-regulated by any human intervention, and the unfinished building deteriorates.

A new mis-selling trap has echoes of the Nineties, when British families were duped into taking out timeshares after being given the hard-sell by developers, and of the Spanish property boom at the start of this century, when buyers snapped up properties that never even had planning permission.

A glut of temptingly cheap homes have come on the market in Spain this year, following a property crash in which prices have been slashed in half.

But the reason many of these homes are so cheap is because developers or the banks that repossessed them are desperate to get them off their books.

Many are among the estimated 300,000 Spanish homes that do not have planning permission, and are often without mains water, gas or electricity.

During the boom years, developers built properties on any piece of land they could get their hands on, even if it was illegal to do so. These homes were then often sold to unwitting British and Irish buyers.

However, many of these illegal homes were repossessed after mortgage payments became too high, or their owners simply abandoned them.

Spanish banks desperate for cash don’t want these properties, and so are using any tactics to get them sold — and often won’t disclose the homes still don’t have planning permission.

They hope British holidaymakers caught off guard will fail to do proper checks and hand over the sale price in cash. And they have slashed prices to such as low level — as little as £30,000 for a two-bedroom apartment — that they are tempting cash buyers who in ordinary circumstances would never qualify for a Spanish mortgage.

Once buyers have parted with their savings, there is no way back."
