At approximately 0749 on September 15, 2020, UP Train MCXNP 14 ran a stop indication and derailed on a crossover switch at State Line Jct. on the KCT High Line while crossing over from 75 to 74 Track. The switches were out of correspondence, being thrown while the stop signal violation took place. At over 20 MPH, both engines and the head 5 cars derailed, listing but upright.
The derailment thankfully stayed on the ballasted deck bridge without falling to the ground below, but presented a unique challenge with where the equipment came to rest, necessitating the use of several contractors to remove the locomotives and railcars.
Wilkerson Crane Rental, Inc., and Cranemasters did most of the lifting, while Mainline Services LLC., under the direction of BNSF engineering forces, as they have the MOW contract on the KCT; replaced the track. Watco/KCTL dropped new ballast with a BNSF rock train to replace what was removed from the bridge deck during cleanup.
A myriad of other contractors also assisted in moving the needed materials and equipment into the site. The line returned to service at 0450 on the 17th without the crossover, which will be restored at a later date. It was nothing short of a fascinating procedure to watch as the equipment was recovered.

This Bee, caught in flight as it was approaching a pollen charged Camellia flower, had already visited a number of flowers, its pollen baskets being a good indication of its dedication to this task.
I love the lovers' names written on the Roman bricks at the end of the Roman Aqueduct in Segovia. And a pair of lovers were just there and the trick was to take any photograph without intruding on their privacy. I also wanted to include an indication that they were there, so I think this achieved my objectives.

I declare February LOVE, romance and beauty month.
We NEED it!
Kissing is great! It’s known as a favourite universal act of showing love and affection.
Almost everyone receives or gives a kiss at some point in their life.
A Lingering Lip Kiss – This is a closed mouth kiss that lasts for more than 20 seconds. The tongue is not involved in this kiss. Lingering lip kisses involve the lips only.
This kiss serves as an indication of deep love.
Two small amorous roses.
Of course there is ALSO the kiss of friendship, the peck on the cheek...
Thank you for your time and comments, greatly appreciated, M, (*_*)

The striated pardalote is the least colourful and most common of the four pardalote species. Feeding in the foliage high in the tops of trees, although occasionally coming close to the ground in low shrubs. So not commonly spotted but they are more common than people usually think, with its call the first indication of their presence.

Great Horned Owls usually give a clear indication of their impending takeoff. Much less subtle than other birds, they usually bunch up and get ready to spring into the air. This pretty lady was surveying the landscape from atop a tree and made ready to takeoff. We were holding our score cards, prepared to give her a 10 for her normally graceful transition into the air. However, as she took off, her talon caught, and the branch pulled her back like a spring. This is her sly attempt at making it look like this was her intent all along. I do have to give her credit; those wings are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen them so I’m still going to give her a 10 and humor her into thinking I knew it was on purpose. Osprey of the Jersey Shore | 2019
The 2018 Osprey Project in New Jersey:
www.conservewildlifenj.org/downloads/cwnj_853.pdf
Ospreys continue to thrive in New Jersey. Nest surveys conducted by volunteers during the peak of the nestling period (late June-early July) resulted in documenting the outcome of 87% of 589 surveyed nests. We credit the successful work by our dedicated volunteers and faithful “Osprey Watchers” to report on nests all along the coast and major rivers. The goal of this project is to monitor and manage the state population of breeding ospreys to ensure they remain stable in New Jersey. We hope that the work conducted as a part of this project will help protect the species while closely monitoring for any indication of emerging threats.
The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the Sea Hawk, Fish Eagle or Fish Hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. It is a large Raptor, reaching more than 24 inches in length and a 71 inches wingspan. It is brown on the upper parts and predominantly greyish on the head and under parts, with a black eye patch and wings. In 1994, the osprey was declared the provincial bird of Nova Scotia, Canada.

This male Oriental magpie-robin (copsychus saularis) displayed some rather grubby feathers on its normally white underside. I'm not sure whether this was a sign of immaturity, or an indication of a recent dirt bath. Photographed in Ao Nang, Krabi Province, Thailand.
"One of the most abundant birds across North America, and one of the most boldly colored, the Red-winged Blackbird is a familiar sight atop cattails, along soggy roadsides, and on telephone wires. Glossy-black males have scarlet-and-yellow shoulder patches they can puff up or hide depending on how confident they feel. Females are a subdued, streaky brown, almost like a large, dark sparrow. Their early and tumbling song are happy indications of the return of spring."

Early morning Cirrus clouds.
Cirrus clouds form very high in the atmosphere. They are wispy, being composed entirely of ice crystals falling through the atmosphere
If you notice Cirrus clouds begins to cover more of the sky, and get lower and thicker, this is a good indication that a warm front is approaching. The lighter warm air is forced to rise over the cold air mass, leading to cloud formation. The lowering clouds indicate that the front is drawing near, and possibly giving a period of rain in the next 12 hours.
The appearance of snowdrops is an lovely indication that Spring is on the way - and Brian can hardly wait!
For Macro Mondays theme 'Dangle'. It only occurred to me after getting Brian to dangle by his tail from the snowdrop stem, that the snowdrop flower itself is also dangling! I had thought at first that it would be nice if Brian would hang straight down with his eye stalks outstretched, almost imitating the shape of the flower, but he had his own ideas and was much more interested in stretching his body towards the snowdrop. I know I can't detect any scent from a snowdrop, but snails have very sensitive olfactory cells in their antennae, so Brian may actually be enjoying the flower's perfume.
No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

No inkling of the way—no notion—
"No go"—by land or ocean—
No mail—no post—
No news from any foreign coast—
No park—no ring—no afternoon gentility—

With a clear to slow indication, CPKC H25; a yard transfer from Agincourt Yard to Lambton Yard, proceeds west at the iconic Bartlett Ave intermediates. This train had made an unscheduled stop about a mile to our east after hitting a "soccer ball sized rock" left on the tracks. The crew reported the incident to RTC whom requested they stop and inspect their locomotives before continuing. The crew found no damage, and continued their short journey. This would be my last time photographing any searchlights along the North Toronto Subdivision, as by the following week everything would be cut over. One set of intermediate "vaders" replaced 2 sets of intermediate searchlights, and two sets of controlled locations which by this point were just glorified intermediates as the crossovers and diamond that used to be along this stretch of mainline had both been removed years prior. This includes the set of signals seen off in the distance displaying a "clear to stop".

My mission for the day was to search for indications of emerging snowdrops. I remembered where they grew last year, but wanted to make a little walking adventure out of it.
I had expected to find new shoots. So I was pleasantly surprised to find two little flowers emerging from the carpet of fallen leaves. There was quite a lot of new shoots emerging too. I think we're in for a snowdrop treat this year.
Even though I was completely soaked through by the end of my walk, seeing the two flowers was worth it.
This little, tiny, teapot belonged to my mother and I recall as a child it sat upon a small table in our hallway! I've sat it beside a teaspoon to give a better indication of its size!!

Between 14th July and 6th August is the annual 'Citizen Science' butterfly count in the UK. This is one of those projects that give a snap shot indication of how well things are not only in the butterfly world, but in the natural world of the UK as a whole.
While out exploring new points of access for the Prairie River I found this newly-mown trail into a section of public hunting land. Glad they missed this lovely bracken which seems to point me into the forest.
OSR/GJRs Job 2 drills the lower yard in the south end of Guelph, as one of the very friendly crew checks the string of cars against his paperwork.
I loved that, while nearing the end of their time in Guelph, OSR was running the MLWs every day, as far as I'm aware. Of particular interest to me was they were only running a single RS18 on Job 2 for much of this time. Perhaps a direct indication of OSRs ability to maintain this classic power.
An indication that spring has arrived is when the local farmers begin to prepare their fields. This photo was taken at Fort Langley British Columbia Canada with a 1940 Zeiss Ikon with medium format Ilford HP5 film.

I spotted this six-spotted tiger beetle working it's way across the deck and was hard put to it to get a shot as he was on the move! I love the florescent green look! I read that they are a good indication that the ecosystem was in good working order as they are a predator of other insects. Between him and the birds I am hopeful that not many spiders get inside the house! LOL
