12 May 2019, Kolasin, Montenegro - Svjetlana Milosevic bringing food to her animals. With help from the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Some 100 smallholder farmers from small mountain villages are now reaping the benefits of agro-tourism and getting recognition for preserving centuries-old culinary traditions and a way of life that, elsewhere, has been long abandoned or is slowing dying out. The FAO-EBRD project has linked smallholder farmers, hotel and restaurant owners to local government and tourism agencies to promote their agro-tourism initiatives. It connected farmers with restaurant and hotel owners; trained farmers and chefs in how to store and cook local products to meet the European Unions’ hygienic standards, and adapt old recipes for today’s use – all with the aim of encouraging locals to keep their traditions alive whilst boosting their incomes and bettering their lives. Elsewhere in the small mountainous villages of northern Montenegro, FAO and EBRD, with funding from Luxembourg, helped farmers get international recognition - Geographical Indication (GI) status - for some of their foods thanks to their high quality and unique production process.

We just heard from the clinic that the blood test results show no indication of FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). There is no definitive test for FIP, but none of the warning signs (particularly a high protein level) were present. Her basic blood chemistry results were within normal range for all the usual categories.
The lack of appetite and sluggishness may have been due to a hairball problem. When we got up this morning, Gracie was very close to her normal self, even though she had not had a bowel movement during the night. She was active, alert, and played vigorously with her mouse. Also, she ate some of her food and drank some water. However, sometime between 9 and 9:30 a.m., she vomited up a very large hairball and the food she had eaten. When we took her in for her appointment shortly after that, the doctor said that the amount of stool in her colon was not very large and it was not hard. He prescribed a product called Laxatone, which is basically a flavored petroleum jelly/mineral oil (we got the tuna flavored kind), to help grease things along in her digestive tract. He suggested that we put some on her paws (once a day for three days). We did so, and sure enough, she licked it off immediately. Her eye problem is almost completely gone, but we should probably continue that medication for a couple days to make sure it does not return. The vet said on the phone that she may outgrow the tendency toward eye infections.
So, we have no reason to suspect FIP, she has begun eating and drinking again, and she is on the road to recovery from her eye infection.
Needless to say, we are greatly relieved.
This photo was taken today by Edgar.
Update 3 August 2009: Gracie is back to normal!

The first indication I had that Ringed Plovers (Charadrius hiaticula) were nesting was when this individual flew right in front of us, fanned its patterned tail, then started dragging its left wing as if it was broken. The little Plover then kept up this charade, and did a great job of luring us away from its nest with newly-hatched chicks. I have seen parent birds feign injury before to distract attention but this is the first time I have ever managed to photograph it.

A New Zealand Non Commissioned Officer gives target indications to his troops as they raid Manatuto Prison. The raid was conducted as part of a major exercise.
Mid Caption:
A major multi-lateral exercise climaxed in East Timor yesterday (25 June 10) when a multinational force raided Manatuto Prison.
US Marines, Australian and New Zealand soldiers of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) and the East Timor Defence Force (F-FDTL) concentrated on the prison in the country’s east for two raids that tested interoperability and operational planning.
The prison raids culminated with an assault by F-FDTL, ISF and US Marines, including air support from the USS Peleliu and the Timor Leste Aviation Group (TLAG).
More than 100 F-FDTL soldiers participated in the MARINE EXERCISE 10 (MAREX 10), also called EXERCISE CROCODILE.
The Exercise focused on professional development and arms corps advice to the F-FDTL. It also included community support activities such as engineering, medical and community relations programs.
The participating Marines landed from USS Peleliu and comprised the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15 MEU).
The ISF personnel included Australian soldiers of 8/9 Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (8/9 RAR) and 2/1 Battalion, the Royal New Zealand Regiment (2/1 RNZR).

The only indication of this temple on Armenian Street is the ornate entry way, just the size of a normal shophouse entry. But once we entered, we found this charming little clan temple with a patch of greenery in front.
Check out the architectural detail on the temple- the lions. Apparently the lion is supposed to represent the British, hence its incorporation in the building represents the cooperation of the clan with the colonial masters

It's an indication of just how closely I'm woven into the fabric of Kuwaiti society, that I had no idea this enormous stadium was being built until I drove past on the 601. The photo isn't that great because I had to stand on a pile of dirt and hold the camera up over my head to get the shot over the building site fence. There's probably better places to photograph it from, but I didn't have time to dodder about to looking for one.

A real indication of the postwar photography boom is that Sears felt obliged to issue a standalone, 72-page catalog of photography products. Sears offered numerous rebadged cameras under their "Tower" branding with this particularly fancy Leica-copy rangefinder sourced from Nicca. Note the Nikkor lens.
were the words from Tower B17's operator, as 276 started 'em up.
Since my first time shooting it in 2007 (at Nahant Yard), the Mt. Rushmore unit has eluded me since that day. It wasn't getting away from me this morning!

This is a photograph from the 1st round of the 2015 Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 6th May 2015 at 20:00. This year the 5KM was ran on a modified route based on the route from the last couple of years. Tonight the final 1KM stayed within the Belvedere Gardens bringing runners down to the lakeside for a second time and finishing along the aptly named Stream Of Life. The route modification meant that the race offered a slightly faster route than the hill finish of previous years.
The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 350 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was perfect for running with sunshine with just a little breeze. The new finish area provided a nice space for runners to stay around and chat in the evening sunshine. The Mullingar Road League 2015 has started off successfully and looks to add to the success in the history of this great series.
The "Road League" is something of a misnomer but is an indication of the League's origins on the roads around Ladestown Mullingar prior to it's move into Belvedere in 2008. The Road League is the envy of many other races in the country as the Belvedere locations offers a completely traffic free 5KM route.
We have an extensive set of photographs from tonight in the following Flickr Album: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/16772614064/

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?

If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
