This is a photograph from the 4th Annual Multyfarnham (Multy) 5KM which was held in the village of Multyfarnham about 15KM west of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 3rd June 2015 at 20:00. An incredible and unprecedented crowd of almost 300 participants took to the route including runners, joggers and walkers which was on an out-and-back course on beautiful country roads. The weather was perfect for racing and running. The fast course combined with the good weather conditions provided personal and seasonal bests for many of the participants. The GAA Club and Community Centre provided car-parking and the race headquarters. Overall this was a very well organised race event which on the evidence of tonight's race can grow even further in future years. As this and other photographs in this set shows there is nothing like an evening race in summer time in rural Ireland.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. I was looking for a card for a friend today. I felt a bit guilty as I was tempted to do it before saying my prayers and I do find my day goes better if I start it on my knees.
So I asked The Lord silently if it was okay, and I felt He said "yes" and so I went to the area of chaos in my flat where I knew there were some cards and I sifted through them slowly rather than in my usual rush.
When I came upon this one I felt it immediately speak to me - and not just for my friend to whom I will send it!
I didn't want to part with it, in fact!
So I have contented myself with sharing it on Flickr, and will send it to him later today or tomorrow - and trust and pray you will all be blessed with God's Perfect Peace - Jehovah's Shalom - now and always!

I only learnt late in my Christian walk what Jesus' name meant - a full 32 years after I was converted! It is the modern day English version of the older Hebrew name, Y'shua, YHWH (Yahweh) Saves - "The LORD saves".
It is, in my opinion, the entire Gospel (the Good News) in a nutshell.
When I first learnt this, it seemed as though a lot suddenly fell into place for me. I think I understood, for the first time, a certain sense of what Jesus meant when He said, "I am The Way, the Truth and The Life, No one Comes to the Father but by Me".
This seems rather an arrogant claim, particularly if you are an adherent to another faith, but my personal experience has been that I simply cannot improve myself, let alone be Holy like God is in Heaven, working things out "in my own strength".
Christ spoke of our needing to have our feet washed by Him, and also taught that true leadership is actually servanthood in humility - not "management" as it is usually seen by all of us in life - and I don't mean "formal" management as a business activity.
Humility is greatly valued by most, if not all, the major World faiths, but for me, personally, I needed Christ to first reach me by coming into my life and my heart back when I was 12, and I also need Him daily to refresh me and heal me and make me the person that both He and I want me to be.
This being said, I am often reminded of the Parable of the Good Samaritan in which Jesus challenged "religion" as it had evolved at the time, and pointed out that kindness, love, self sacrifice is in all of our hearts, and so, being a Christian, should never result in self righteousness or elitism. I know I fall into this trap a lot, but as God heals me I see more and more evidence that he will move me to a better place, as I continue to grow, the healing being done by His Spirit He planted within me all those years ago.

I am not trained in philosophy, but I do remember reading Bertrand Russell as opining that "no supernatural laws are needed to make men kind". I do agree with this, because (speaking from a Christian viewpoint) God's Law is to protect us from doing harm to one another (or to ourselves). They simply strive to teach us what is good, rather than how to be good.
I believe that all human beings are born with a moral conscience, but there is a constant tussle between good and evil within each one of us. The word "evil" of course does have strong connotations, but I have used it instinctively here and hope it will not offend.
The more we keep doing things that are wrong, the more our conscience gets eroded regarding these things. And all of us are a complex mix (mess?) of all of this coupled with conditioning we receive from the world around us.
On our own, I believe each of us is capable of being kind and probably have always wanted to at least in part since we first came into the world.
The question is, though, are we, or can we be, perfectly kind as the word "Holy" implies in a theological sense? I know I can't, even now as I am receiving so much very directly from God. If you are married, and dearly love your spouse, have you ever let them down in at least some small way? A larger way? I submit then that even the loves we cherish the most are not as perfect as we wish?
This post is not intended necessarily to answer these questions but just to air them - if only rhetorically.

Transportation Director Leah Treat announced today that the Portland Bureau of Transportation surpassed its goal of preserving 100 lane miles of City streets during the budget year that ended June 30.
In 2015-16, PBOT expects to apply more crack sealing to arterial streets, as a way to extend the life of those streets and avoid more costly rebuilds and repaving projects. At a news conference on North Argyle Street, crews demonstrated how it works.
For every $15 million we invest in preventive maintenance, PBOT estimates the City of Portland can avoid at least $50 million a year in future costs.
It was a 50/50 chance of getting some late evening sun-sadly not much for this shot as too much cloud. Still, I have seen worse shots than this uploaded and liked so I am uploading! At least the timing was good-the train fits over 6 arches! (worked out entirely by myself from a previous photo of my OWN-who's a clever boy then!!) This is my preferred viewpoint-a compromise between getting a good clear view of the train and at least some reflection in the benign River Dee.
Not sure how many more clear views will be possible here, as the unchecked growth of the trees is slowly making things difficult. it pays to have a good look around this spot as different viewpoints will suit different trains! I draw the line at actually wading into the river for a better pic! Hope this is of help to viewers. In hindsight, I wish I had come here more often for northbound railtours rather than waste time in Chester with hoardes of old men armed dangerously with camcorders and no manners! I shall make better use of this lovely peaceful area in future.
Also, really only suitable for northbound trains-southbound trains are partially obscured-not much use!

Four dozen locals showed up to make this statement on the Fifth Anniversary of the "Liberation" of Iraq to topple the a bloody dictator who was able to keep a fractious country within one set of borders...only to create a civil war, and put every man woman and child in America thousands of dollars in future debt while watch our own economy collapse. Yeah, I know, this is political and a bit of a rant...tomorow back to nature.
On Global Open Day on UNSCR 1325, Calls for Greater Women Role in Future of post-Daesh Iraq
Baghdad/Erbil, 24 October 2017 – The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), jointly with UNWOMEN within the context of the observing the Global Open Day and the 17th Anniversary of UN Security Council resolution 1325, held consultative forums with senior political leadership in Baghdad and Erbil on 23 and 24 October, with the focus on strengthening women’s political participation.
In both Baghdad and Erbil, the concerns of women, their participation in society, the political process and decision-making were raised. Participants were categorical in stating that there have been long-standing barriers which have continued to impede women’s participation and representation in the political process. Particularly, participants noted a regression in women’s representation in executive, legislative as well as judiciary branches of government. Further, participants decried that leaderships of political parties have not given sufficient opportunities to women to fully and equally participate in politics. Recommendations were proposed, including a specific request made to the political leaders to give women an opportunity to be part of the solution. Participants also called for legislation to promote and increase women’s participation in politics and governance as well as to promote them to decision-making positions.
In Baghdad, the meeting on 23 October was organized in collaboration with the Implementation and Follow-up Commission for National Reconciliation in the Office of the Prime Minister. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health and Environment, H.E. Adila Hammoud, Adviser to the Prime Minister on reconciliation, Mr. Mohammed Salman, the Speaker of Parliament’s representative Dr. Ahmed Rushdy, Advisor to the President of the Republic, Juan Masoum, heads of political blocs and other government representatives, parliamentary Committee heads, MPs as well as academics, in addition to representatives of UNAMI and UNWOMEN.
H.E. Ms. Adila Hammoud, the Minister of Health and Environment, stated that to overcome social barriers and challenges impeding women’s participation required a concerted effort and commitment from political leaders and decision-makers, noting “the significant successes of many Iraqi women on the executive and legislative levels and their ability to play an essential role in peace making and societal reconciliation.”
Mr. Mohammad Salman of the reconciliation committee, in his opening remarks, said the meeting is a “golden opportunity for all to benefit from the accumulated experiences of peoples” that the UN holds as it works to support women issues.
Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš, emphasized in his remarks at the meetings in Baghdad and Erbil that women in Iraq are agents of positive change and they must be given the opportunity to act in that critical role in shaping the future of their country in the post-Daesh period.
“Equality and empowerment of women must be central to all peace, justice, reconciliation and reform efforts in the post-Daesh period. Women’s participation is crucial for an effective, successful and sustainable peace processes and reform. Only through their direct and meaningful participation their voices will be heard,” Mr. Kubiš said.
The consultative meeting in Erbil was convened on 24 October by UNAMI in collaboration with UN WOMEN and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s High Council for Women Affairs. It was attended by Interior Minister H.E. Mr. Karim Sinjari, Minister of the Department of Foreign Relations H.E. Mr. Falah Al-Mustafa, Secretary-General of the High Council for Women’s Affairs Ms. Pakhshan Zangana, Spokesperson to Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, Safeen Dizayi, and women leaders, in addition to representatives of UNAMI and UN WOMEN.
In remarks at the Erbil meeting, Ms. Pakshan Zangana, the Secretary-General of the High Council for Women’s Affairs in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, said the recent crisis in Kirkuk have seen displacements of civilians including women, the elderly and children. She urged the UN to strengthen its efforts towards addressing the needs to those displaced.
In Erbil, Mr. Kubiš acknowledged the efforts of the Cross-Sector Task Force on the implementation of the Iraq National Action Plan on 1325. “Regardless of all issues between Baghdad and Erbil, the collaboration of women group representatives from both Baghdad and Erbil has been remarkable. It is a good model of constructive cooperation that should inspire also the process of finding solutions to the current crisis between Baghdad and Erbil. Women must play a key role also in these endeavors.”
The SRSG recalled the particularly brutal treatment of women and girls by Daesh terrorists and pointed out to UN Security Council resolution 2379, passed in September to establish an investigative team to support domestic efforts to hold Daesh accountable.
UN WOMEN Representative in Iraq, Ms. Dina Zorba, in both meetings in Baghdad and Erbil, commended the government, civil society, and national and international partners for continued commitment to UNSCR 1325, stating that Iraq is the first country in the Middle East to launch a national plan to implement 1325. She urged the government to work to ensure gender issues are incorporated in all democratization and nation building agendas, and called on the UN, the government, and the International Community to continue to advocate for and protect the rights of women and girls.

PizzaBuzz is, in a city so full of new restaurant openings, a very good idea indeed. The concept can be summed up (crudely) as âDIY Pizzaâ or "we have the toppings, you do the rest!" or "Subway, but with pizzas!". This doesnât really do it justice however and there is, obviously, much more to it than that - which Iâll now try to elaborate upon:
Essentially the idea is semi-self service pizza/food assembly. You take your place at the start of their "DIY pizza assembly lineâ and prepare yourself a pizza entirely of your own devising (though you donât have to do anything really asides from tell them what you want your pizza to be made of - it arrives pre sliced too, woo!).
You choose from 5 types of bases (gluten free options are available). These range from a âregularâ Margherita (cheese, tomato etc) to the Bianca (white sauce, mozzarella, parmesan) - plus a pretty fkn extensive range of toppings, divided into vegetables, proteins (i.e meats, fish) and cheese. Said toppings include such gastronomic curiosities such as bacon jam and wild rock shrimp. The recommended number of toppings for a pizza is about 4-5, though apparently one guy came in (drunk) on a Friday night once and ordered a £20+ pizza that contained EVERY SINGLE topping they offered. It ended up looking like a pyramid (hahahahaha!)
And, if you donât fancy coming up with your own pizza, their âsignature collectionâ of pre-designed pizzas come in around £10, and have names like Middle Earth and Etna. Once youâve picked your combo of ingredients, it takes them about 1-3 minutes to cook the whole thing in their wood fired ovens - so you might even be able to describe it as fast food. Takeaway is also an option. In the Southern Italian style, you can also get a burrata (and choose what ingredients to have it with, which is the recurring theme...)
As for the ambiance - PizzaBuzz lives inside the brand spanking new Alphabeta development on Worship street. On the inside it has a minimal vibe - almost the feel of an industrial space about it. Except theyâve made it more friendly with offcentre animal illustrations drawn onto the walls (pictured) plus their colourful logo and a recurring love of hexagonal things. Plus staff singing along to the music (not sure if this is an actual feature or if I just came in at the right time ^_^)
I must also tell you about the dough - which took a yearâs development and is quite something (theyâve got a video called âJane Doughâ in which the dough explains this all to you in a Yorkshire accent, lol). Anyway, it comes from a small mill in Oxfordshire and is, unusually, 50% spelt. I am told that this results in better texture, digestibility and mouthfeel than regular pizza. This is a big claim to make, and Iâm not sure I agree - the pizza I had, however, WAS very good and thatâs all I can say about that.
All in all, Pizzabuzz is taking a very good idea from another restaurant (*ahem*) and applying it to pizza very, very well. I wasnât surprised to hear that they have another site opening soon and can see them doing pretty well in future. Inherently, itâs fun, a bit silly, and provides you with a lot more choice than most of the (pizza based) competition. Definitely a place Iâd recommend to everybody (because who the hell doesnât like pizza, really?!)

The Britcar Endurance Trophy was the First up and it was time to see who could claim that elusive Pole Position and to see if anyone else could challenge the Top Three Drivers Lets see how things turned out.
In First Place was the Pairing Of (Datum Motorsport's Axel Van Nederveen and Adriano Medeiros) in their Ginetta G55A with a Best Lap Time of 52:193 and an Average Speed of 64.75mph. Congratulations Axel and Adriano a Really Fantastic Drive and A Super Victory.
In Second Place was (SVG's Mark Lee) in his Ginetta G56A with a Best Lap Time of 52.086 and an Average Speed of 64.70mph. Amazing Drive Mark Keeping that Ginetta on the Track and Taking Second Place while Nearly Matching the Speed of Axel and Adriano. Well Done.

On Global Open Day on UNSCR 1325, Calls for Greater Women Role in Future of post-Daesh Iraq
Baghdad/Erbil, 24 October 2017 – The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), jointly with UNWOMEN within the context of the observing the Global Open Day and the 17th Anniversary of UN Security Council resolution 1325, held consultative forums with senior political leadership in Baghdad and Erbil on 23 and 24 October, with the focus on strengthening women’s political participation.
In both Baghdad and Erbil, the concerns of women, their participation in society, the political process and decision-making were raised. Participants were categorical in stating that there have been long-standing barriers which have continued to impede women’s participation and representation in the political process. Particularly, participants noted a regression in women’s representation in executive, legislative as well as judiciary branches of government. Further, participants decried that leaderships of political parties have not given sufficient opportunities to women to fully and equally participate in politics. Recommendations were proposed, including a specific request made to the political leaders to give women an opportunity to be part of the solution. Participants also called for legislation to promote and increase women’s participation in politics and governance as well as to promote them to decision-making positions.
In Baghdad, the meeting on 23 October was organized in collaboration with the Implementation and Follow-up Commission for National Reconciliation in the Office of the Prime Minister. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health and Environment, H.E. Adila Hammoud, Adviser to the Prime Minister on reconciliation, Mr. Mohammed Salman, the Speaker of Parliament’s representative Dr. Ahmed Rushdy, Advisor to the President of the Republic, Juan Masoum, heads of political blocs and other government representatives, parliamentary Committee heads, MPs as well as academics, in addition to representatives of UNAMI and UNWOMEN.
H.E. Ms. Adila Hammoud, the Minister of Health and Environment, stated that to overcome social barriers and challenges impeding women’s participation required a concerted effort and commitment from political leaders and decision-makers, noting “the significant successes of many Iraqi women on the executive and legislative levels and their ability to play an essential role in peace making and societal reconciliation.”
Mr. Mohammad Salman of the reconciliation committee, in his opening remarks, said the meeting is a “golden opportunity for all to benefit from the accumulated experiences of peoples” that the UN holds as it works to support women issues.
Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš, emphasized in his remarks at the meetings in Baghdad and Erbil that women in Iraq are agents of positive change and they must be given the opportunity to act in that critical role in shaping the future of their country in the post-Daesh period.
“Equality and empowerment of women must be central to all peace, justice, reconciliation and reform efforts in the post-Daesh period. Women’s participation is crucial for an effective, successful and sustainable peace processes and reform. Only through their direct and meaningful participation their voices will be heard,” Mr. Kubiš said.
The consultative meeting in Erbil was convened on 24 October by UNAMI in collaboration with UN WOMEN and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s High Council for Women Affairs. It was attended by Interior Minister H.E. Mr. Karim Sinjari, Minister of the Department of Foreign Relations H.E. Mr. Falah Al-Mustafa, Secretary-General of the High Council for Women’s Affairs Ms. Pakhshan Zangana, Spokesperson to Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, Safeen Dizayi, and women leaders, in addition to representatives of UNAMI and UN WOMEN.
In remarks at the Erbil meeting, Ms. Pakshan Zangana, the Secretary-General of the High Council for Women’s Affairs in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, said the recent crisis in Kirkuk have seen displacements of civilians including women, the elderly and children. She urged the UN to strengthen its efforts towards addressing the needs to those displaced.
In Erbil, Mr. Kubiš acknowledged the efforts of the Cross-Sector Task Force on the implementation of the Iraq National Action Plan on 1325. “Regardless of all issues between Baghdad and Erbil, the collaboration of women group representatives from both Baghdad and Erbil has been remarkable. It is a good model of constructive cooperation that should inspire also the process of finding solutions to the current crisis between Baghdad and Erbil. Women must play a key role also in these endeavors.”
The SRSG recalled the particularly brutal treatment of women and girls by Daesh terrorists and pointed out to UN Security Council resolution 2379, passed in September to establish an investigative team to support domestic efforts to hold Daesh accountable.
UN WOMEN Representative in Iraq, Ms. Dina Zorba, in both meetings in Baghdad and Erbil, commended the government, civil society, and national and international partners for continued commitment to UNSCR 1325, stating that Iraq is the first country in the Middle East to launch a national plan to implement 1325. She urged the government to work to ensure gender issues are incorporated in all democratization and nation building agendas, and called on the UN, the government, and the International Community to continue to advocate for and protect the rights of women and girls.

PizzaBuzz is, in a city so full of new restaurant openings, a very good idea indeed. The concept can be summed up (crudely) as âDIY Pizzaâ or "we have the toppings, you do the rest!" or "Subway, but with pizzas!". This doesnât really do it justice however and there is, obviously, much more to it than that - which Iâll now try to elaborate upon:
Essentially the idea is semi-self service pizza/food assembly. You take your place at the start of their "DIY pizza assembly lineâ and prepare yourself a pizza entirely of your own devising (though you donât have to do anything really asides from tell them what you want your pizza to be made of - it arrives pre sliced too, woo!).
You choose from 5 types of bases (gluten free options are available). These range from a âregularâ Margherita (cheese, tomato etc) to the Bianca (white sauce, mozzarella, parmesan) - plus a pretty fkn extensive range of toppings, divided into vegetables, proteins (i.e meats, fish) and cheese. Said toppings include such gastronomic curiosities such as bacon jam and wild rock shrimp. The recommended number of toppings for a pizza is about 4-5, though apparently one guy came in (drunk) on a Friday night once and ordered a £20+ pizza that contained EVERY SINGLE topping they offered. It ended up looking like a pyramid (hahahahaha!)
And, if you donât fancy coming up with your own pizza, their âsignature collectionâ of pre-designed pizzas come in around £10, and have names like Middle Earth and Etna. I must also tell you about the dough - which took a yearâs development and is quite something (theyâve got a video called âJane Doughâ in which the dough explains this all to you in a Yorkshire accent, lol). Anyway, it comes from a small mill in Oxfordshire and is, unusually, 50% spelt. I am told that this results in better texture, digestibility and mouthfeel than regular pizza. This is a big claim to make, and Iâm not sure I agree - the pizza I had, however, WAS very good and thatâs all I can say about that.
All in all, Pizzabuzz is taking a very good idea from another restaurant (*ahem*) and applying it to pizza very, very well. I wasnât surprised to hear that they have another site opening soon and can see them doing pretty well in future. Inherently, itâs fun, a bit silly, and provides you with a lot more choice than most of the (pizza based) competition. Definitely a place Iâd recommend to everybody (because who the hell doesnât like pizza, really?!)

I do not believe in future readings because I believe that the future is made of probabilities , each action increases or decreases a future outcome of an event in the future .
On a lighter note , the norm here in the middle east is ' coffee reading ' , tea leaves readings is not common at all ... Since i'm a Tea fan , i may have second thoughts on tea readings :P ..

We analysed these issues based on experience gained with citizen participation on regional and national level in Europe.

Festus G. Mogae, Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC), met with the Group of 10 (former detainees), members of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-In-Opposition (SPLM/A-IO), and members of the Government of the Republic of South Sudan (GRSS) on 22 December 2015. During his welcoming remarks, Mr. Mogae said the return of SPLM/A-IO indicates their commitment to restoring peace and implementing the Agreement in South Sudan. “Your return is not the end of the road, but the start of another important journey,” he stressed.
He also mentioned his appreciation of the Government for enabling the first group of the SPLM/A (IO) to return, and urged both parties to plan for the expeditious return of the second and third groups, in accordance with the proposed plan. In remarks aimed at the greater South Sudanese population, he said “in this season of hope, forgiveness and renewal … this Christmas, 2015, is the last celebrated in a context of conflict.”
The main purposes of the meeting were: a) to ensure the timely establishment of the main pre-transitional institutions, b) to hear from the leadership of the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMM) about their activities, challenges and how best to support their efforts in future, c) to hear from the Parties on the status, to date, of the cantonment of forces and d) to move forward with the other processes necessary to establish the Transitional Government of National Unity, as required by the Compromise Peace Agreement.

The title is a bit dramatic but i thought it suited the image haha. For those who don't understand the title, the ship in the background is an ex navy ship that on this day was sunk to create an artificial reef for divers and marine life. This is in Avoca, NSW, one of many beaches on the central coast and personally i think one of the most beautiful. I will in future be uploading photos from this day also. Description: A seaweed farmer in Bali, Indonesia brings home his collection from the farm on the shallow waters of the sea. The whole village of Nusa Lembongan island is indulged in the cultivation of seaweed, which could be a fitting answer to single use plastic in future. The farmers plant the seaweeds in the sea and let them grow for about 40 days before collecting them to process and send to different destinations. Every day, they are required to check the condition of the seaweeds and make sure that the sticks that hold them are not broken and that they are not rendered useless by extreme heat and tidal waves.

On Global Open Day on UNSCR 1325, Calls for Greater Women Role in Future of post-Daesh Iraq
Baghdad/Erbil, 24 October 2017 – The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), jointly with UNWOMEN within the context of the observing the Global Open Day and the 17th Anniversary of UN Security Council resolution 1325, held consultative forums with senior political leadership in Baghdad and Erbil on 23 and 24 October, with the focus on strengthening women’s political participation.
In both Baghdad and Erbil, the concerns of women, their participation in society, the political process and decision-making were raised. Participants were categorical in stating that there have been long-standing barriers which have continued to impede women’s participation and representation in the political process. Particularly, participants noted a regression in women’s representation in executive, legislative as well as judiciary branches of government. Further, participants decried that leaderships of political parties have not given sufficient opportunities to women to fully and equally participate in politics. Recommendations were proposed, including a specific request made to the political leaders to give women an opportunity to be part of the solution. Participants also called for legislation to promote and increase women’s participation in politics and governance as well as to promote them to decision-making positions.
In Baghdad, the meeting on 23 October was organized in collaboration with the Implementation and Follow-up Commission for National Reconciliation in the Office of the Prime Minister. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health and Environment, H.E. Adila Hammoud, Adviser to the Prime Minister on reconciliation, Mr. Mohammed Salman, the Speaker of Parliament’s representative Dr. Ahmed Rushdy, Advisor to the President of the Republic, Juan Masoum, heads of political blocs and other government representatives, parliamentary Committee heads, MPs as well as academics, in addition to representatives of UNAMI and UNWOMEN.
H.E. Ms. Adila Hammoud, the Minister of Health and Environment, stated that to overcome social barriers and challenges impeding women’s participation required a concerted effort and commitment from political leaders and decision-makers, noting “the significant successes of many Iraqi women on the executive and legislative levels and their ability to play an essential role in peace making and societal reconciliation.”
Mr. Mohammad Salman of the reconciliation committee, in his opening remarks, said the meeting is a “golden opportunity for all to benefit from the accumulated experiences of peoples” that the UN holds as it works to support women issues.
Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš, emphasized in his remarks at the meetings in Baghdad and Erbil that women in Iraq are agents of positive change and they must be given the opportunity to act in that critical role in shaping the future of their country in the post-Daesh period.
“Equality and empowerment of women must be central to all peace, justice, reconciliation and reform efforts in the post-Daesh period. Women’s participation is crucial for an effective, successful and sustainable peace processes and reform. Only through their direct and meaningful participation their voices will be heard,” Mr. Kubiš said.
The consultative meeting in Erbil was convened on 24 October by UNAMI in collaboration with UN WOMEN and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s High Council for Women Affairs. It was attended by Interior Minister H.E. Mr. Karim Sinjari, Minister of the Department of Foreign Relations H.E. Mr. Falah Al-Mustafa, Secretary-General of the High Council for Women’s Affairs Ms. Pakhshan Zangana, Spokesperson to Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, Safeen Dizayi, and women leaders, in addition to representatives of UNAMI and UN WOMEN.
In remarks at the Erbil meeting, Ms. Pakshan Zangana, the Secretary-General of the High Council for Women’s Affairs in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, said the recent crisis in Kirkuk have seen displacements of civilians including women, the elderly and children. She urged the UN to strengthen its efforts towards addressing the needs to those displaced.
In Erbil, Mr. Kubiš acknowledged the efforts of the Cross-Sector Task Force on the implementation of the Iraq National Action Plan on 1325. “Regardless of all issues between Baghdad and Erbil, the collaboration of women group representatives from both Baghdad and Erbil has been remarkable. It is a good model of constructive cooperation that should inspire also the process of finding solutions to the current crisis between Baghdad and Erbil. Women must play a key role also in these endeavors.”
The SRSG recalled the particularly brutal treatment of women and girls by Daesh terrorists and pointed out to UN Security Council resolution 2379, passed in September to establish an investigative team to support domestic efforts to hold Daesh accountable.
UN WOMEN Representative in Iraq, Ms. Dina Zorba, in both meetings in Baghdad and Erbil, commended the government, civil society, and national and international partners for continued commitment to UNSCR 1325, stating that Iraq is the first country in the Middle East to launch a national plan to implement 1325. She urged the government to work to ensure gender issues are incorporated in all democratization and nation building agendas, and called on the UN, the government, and the International Community to continue to advocate for and protect the rights of women and girls.

He spoke about the importance of research stating that “everything is available in India and we should not depend on other countries for anything. The problem in India is that we are not giving importance to accountability of thoughts and ideas. In foreign countries faculties strive hard to maintain the consistency in their domain. Indian faculties should hone their skills to compete with the emerging global needs.”

I had a conversation about what design-a-day should do. And I'm planning on trying to make this mean something more to my work. The next few days will be different questions I'll be posing to myself. I will then spend some time trying to resolve these in future designs. I guess the hope is that the time i put into these will become a library of design reference points for me moving forward, and help me resolve how I see my design process working in the foreseeable future.

Darwinia collina is a Western Australian species restricted to mountain tops within Stirling Range National Park. It's threatened by grazing, Phytophthora dieback, inappropriate fire regimes and climate change. Application of thefungicide Phosphite has been successful in ameliorating the impacts of dieback. Recent recovery actions have focussed on fencing to allow plants grazed by rabbits and /or the native quokka to grow, flower and set seed. Wildwood Park development officially kicked off during a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, March 25. Although some work has already been performed on the new park, additional development will ramp up. The park is scheduled to open to visitors with basic amenities later this year, with additional features to be added in future phases.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, the LBJ Library’s Future Forum held an event to honor the victims of the deadly series of mystery package bombs planted in Austin in 2018 and to discuss media coverage of the bombings. Austin journalists and media consumers discussed ways in which racial biases shaped the unfolding story of the bombings and considered strategies and ideas for reducing the reflection of biases in future news reporting.
The panelists were John Bridges, executive editor of the Austin American-Statesman; Eric Byrd, vice president and chief operating officer of the nonprofit MEASURE Austin and director of transitional and supervised independent living for SAFE Alliance, an Austin nonprofit serving abuse survivors; DaLyah Jones, assistant producer for All Things Considered and a KUT evening host; and Eric Tang, PhD, associate professor in the African and African Diaspora Studies Department and director of the Center for Asian American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Moderator of the panel was Erna Smith, lecturer at UT Austin’s School of Journalism.
