Whenever possible, crews improvised and made things they needed to complete tasks on site, like building this log ramp to move heavy equipment.

I wanted to see if the small wobble was the tire or the rim, but I don't have a truing stand.
I borrowed this idea from somewhere in the bike touring community, and it happens to work pretty well.
It turns out the wobble is a little bit the rim -- it was "close enough to true," but I wanted to be a bit more precise -- and a little bit of the tire.
This tire and rim combination is a breeze to mount, never leaks air and overall is pretty good. The problem lies in removing the tire, which is not as easy. If I partially remove the tire, maybe I can reposition it to get the wobble out. I don't know, I think I may be too picky and may just let this go.
And I removed the Salsa Wanderlust rack after I shot the photo.
This is a scan of a poor photo that I shot sometime in the early 2000's, near Muleshoe, Texas.
What we are looking at here is a large number of former Santa Fe covered hopper cars that have been raised on stilts and improvised into some sort of storage silos. It looks like a combination of various ACF Centerflows and PS-2s.
This collection was shot in my car using the dashboard lights in my car and a very old Petzel camping Flash light on a 33mm lenz.
The idea was to do some thing fun and quick with minimum equipment !
There is minimum work done in this collection.

I had some leftover bechamel and simple tomato sauce, and there was no way I was going to waste those. So:
I made a quick mirepoix with garlic, deglazed it with wine, added the tomato sauce, sage, and oregano, folded in a can of (good, meaty) tuna.
Stretched out the bechamel with some leftover cream, shredded all the cheeses I had in the fridge (pecorino romano, manchego, some cheap mozzarella). Blanched, drained, and chopped some spinach.
It wasn't as good as my bolognese lasagna—what is?—but it was seriously good.

I wanted to see if I could make an emergency shelter from a 9x12' tarp & 2 tent poles. Need to make some modifications but it would work, I think.

In this little town north of Cabo we came upon this family as they were getting everything ready for the opening of the carnival rides that night... there was only this one family of Mom, Dad and six little kids doing all of the cleaning and prep work. This is what they had set up to operate the ferris wheel... and the young boy was the operator... anyone up for a little ride??? :-)
Ethne asked for triangle blocks using scraps and dark blue solids inspired by the illustrations of Leah Duncan.
The block is a bit bigger than 18" on a side. Here again, the colors aren't right. This is a different blue, edging from navy to royal, and the scraps are darker.
I was worried that her head's S-hook might start digging into the neck while her body rested headless. My solution was to put a piece of thick cardboard between the hook and her neck to provide some cushion.
