#BernkastelKues, #Germany is a beautiful #winecountry area that is full of life, #food, and or course #wine. Walking in and around the #vineyards of this highly populated area is an experience that you have to see for yourself. My images capture only a small glimpse of how beautiful this place really is in person. While hiking up the large hills of Bernkastel-Kues, you can see the small town in the center and a castle that over looks the river. Inside this condense community are shops, restaurants, wineries, and bakeries. You can take a tour on a river boat and spend the rest of your day walking around drinking wine and eating Germany food. It’s a traveler’s delight and a wine drinker’s paradise.

I've always been fond of this composition: the expressions and body language of each individual are so evocative of museum-goers. The man crossing from left has that "I've seen these before, where's the next room?" sort of gait; the woman turning has the "let me look appropriately impressed by the, uh, Impressionism," the other woman is wearing a totally cool hat, and the monsieur with his arms behind his back probably just wants his wife to hurry looking and accompany him to the cafe.
Oh, and all these people are admiring versions of Monet's Cathedral of Rouen series. Brilliant paintings, all.
Having visited JK Wine Bar and the Restaurant a handfull of times over the past couple years, I will be so bold to say that he is a Toronto gem more for what he believes in and how he carries it through. It's all about: Eat local, eat organic, eat sustainable produce and meats. If there was anyone to support the men and women who work so hard to bring us wholesome products, Jamie Kennedy would probably be a prime candidate. It is no wonder that his establishments are highly recommended and regarded by those who visit the city. However, if it were up to me, I would suggest his counterpart, Chef Stadtlander at Eigensinn Farm for the proper "of the earth and ground" experience. I am glad that Chef Kennedy is located in the city and makes his wares accessible to most. I am thankful that he brought back the desire for slow foods, good foods without the fanfare, and if one is looking for that type of dining experience and meal, then one should be satisfied by the number of establishments he has in Toronto. Personally, JK is a place of decent quality fare, reasonable prices, and a relaxed atmosphere. It wouldn't be on my top ten list of must tries, but it certainly is clear of the must nots.
Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar is a good place for friends to gather, to have reasonable wine pairings (we didn't do that on this trip) with tasty foods (some hits, some misses) that changes frequently. If you become bored with your dining companion, you could always look towards the open kitchen for entertainment. Looking at the great wall of pickles and preserves begs one to question what delightful treat will be served next? That, is of course, for the next diner to find out.
