Wo?
Wo wird einst des Wandermüden
Letzte Ruhestätte sein?
Unter Palmen in dem Süden?
Unter Linden an dem Rhein?
Werd ich wo in einer Wüste
Eingescharrt von fremder Hand?
Oder ruh ich an der Küste
Eines Meeres in dem Sand?
Immerhin! Mich wird umgeben
Gotteshimmel, dort wie hier,
Und als Totenlampen schweben
Nachts die Sterne über mir.

I have some trouble seeing myself as a pretty girl. I have people telling me that, but I still don't see that girl when I look in the mirror. I know it probably comes from being a perfectionist, and always wanting to seem perfect, but the bigger part of me will always see someone so incredibly flawed that I'll never be loved or wanted. I'm not saying this to seem like a victim of the world (oh, spare me!) or to seem emo. Far from that. I'm posting this because sometimes, you see yourself taking a step in the right direction, and you celebrate it. I had someone leave me an anonymous message saying I was ugly, and that no one wanted to see my self-portraits, last week. And instead of crying about it or posting it in a passive-aggressive manner, I erased it. It might be true, or it might be silly, that we always believe the naysayers. But this is my effort to see beauty in myself. To try to see what other people see.
Another in-camera impressionist effect different from Primary and Red Impressions. Same equipment, same locale, same day.
Part of an ongoing project while living in India, a gallery in Bangalore asked me to put together an exhibition! These three images are selected from that collection.
