Our house has always been known as Longpond (for the obvious reason). The Longpond has now been filled in for over 50 years but the original shape is still obvious being over 400 metres long though only 10 metres wide. The only pond left is my garden pond!

But they don't look very optomistic. I think it was the FA cup against WBA who won 2-1 ( a re-edit )
_eigentlich sollte der Name aus zwei Teilen bestehen - "Aller Heiligen" - nach dem ich die Bedeutung gelesen habe.
Allerheiligen (lateinisch Festum Omnium Sanctorum) ist ein christliches Fest, zu dem aller Heiligen gedacht wird – auch solcher, die nicht heiliggesprochen wurden −, sowie der vielen Heiligen um deren Heiligkeit niemand weiß als Gott.

The world is like a sheet of paper on which something is typed. The reading and the meaning will vary with the reader, but the paper is the common factor, always present, rarely perceived. When the ribbon is removed, typing leaves no trace on the paper. So is my mind - the impressions keep on coming, but no trace is left.

This was just a whistle-stop visit to the Portuguese Riviera resort. I would love to return at a future date and explore Cascais at leisure. It was a delightful place, so redolent of the French Riviera of a century before.

I shot this section of Death Valley's Mesquite Dunes on the way back from a morning shoot. The long focal length compressed the perspective enough the cause a kind of optical illusion and an uneasy sense of depth.
