Duff House in Banff … the front entrance has the double sweep of an imperial staircase, making the front beautifully symmetrical.
Now in the care of Historic Environment Scotland, it is part of the National Galleries Scotland and is a Category A listed building. It holds part of the National Portrait collection.

I often walk past the wonderful All Saints Church which is just a couple of miles from my front door - the other day it was simply showing off. I'm assuming for a wedding...
I passed this male Pheasant on the bank of a stream. He looked very striking in his Spring plumage, trying to find a mate!
There are two cat cafés in Glasgow, Purrple Cat Café and Meow Café. For those who are stuck between the two of them (What else do you people spend time doing on vacation exactly?!?!), I enjoyed both but Purrple Cat Café has cats that are not pure bred cats which I like more. There are so many wonderful cats in this world who need homes even if they aren't "instagrammable" (Who cares-ALL CATS are instagrammable!) Anyway, Purrple Cat Café had over 30 cats but it was such a well taken care of place without even any smells that I was highly impressed. It gets my highest cat café recommendation which is 6/5 happy cats !

Dear old-fashioned wall phone,
I was impressed to see you framed like a piece of art. You don't meet that definition, but you were an important part of my childhood, just like your evolved model resting on a table. Those were the days when nobody could track you all the time.
You had some disadvantages. Because I grew up in a tiny apartment, and you presided a wall in an equally tiny dining room, your ringing tone was far too loud. You couldn't come up with an excuse for not hearing the phone ring. Also, when I was a teenager, it was important to be careful about what you said and did because everyone else in the room stopped talking. Luckily, my parents weren't the inquisitive type. Nevertheless, my answers were usually monosyllabic.
The search for a phone box was often ruled by Murphy's Law, so I couldn't rely on you in an emergency outside the house. That was a real problem.
On the other hand, you didn't have a screen, nobody would call me to sell me stuff, and Whatsapp wasn't connected to you to make my life even harder.
I could go on and on about you, but I'll stop. You're gone, and so is my youth. We belong to a past time.
It was nice to see you again, though.

People just can't resist these games at carnivals and fairs. Lay your money down and try to win a small prize. Lay some more money down to win another small prize. Trade those in on a slightly larger prize. Repeat until you win the big prize, or run out of money. Whichever comes first.

We have visited this waterfall a number of times before. Most shoot this from the left side of the falls, as have I. The trails take you right up to the face of the falls. That's easy enough. However I have always wanted to see what it looked like from the far right side. Trouble is, that side is hard to get to. First, you have to cross the river. I guess that's no biggie but it's not an easy river to cross. This time I brought my waders. I have not had good luck with these in the past, in fact they caused me to fill my camera bag with water in the past. See, the bottom of the feet are hard plastic and they get no traction on the rocks. Anyway, this time they worked well.
So once across the river, you are facing a wall of delicate moss. This is one of the reasons to see this waterfall. Being one of those that always tries to be unbelievably respectful of the landscape, this created the biggest challenge. I needed to get up and almost behind the moss covered hill to see the smaller series of falls that usually hide in the shadows. I started by staying in the many small streams that fall down the hill face because there is no chance for footprints in the moss. Once over there I saw that I was not the first to try to walk up to this side. It seemed my predicessor also tread lightly. Even so, I could see thier footprints, so I followed those to minimize my trek.
It was a slow climb, not because it was hard, but because of the care taken. I had finally reached the top and I have to be honest, I was not all that impressed. Well, I was there, let's see what I can do. I wanted the full scene so I reached for the fisheye. This is an all new fisheye for me. My classic Tokina 10-17 has now left the bag and a new Sigma 8mm has entered the scene. This was my first outing with this glass. It worked well, but it was not weather sealed and being at the top of the moss hill it was clear why the moss was there. I was getting soaked. Wipe, shoot. Wipe, shoot. Wipe shoot. By the time I left the hill I was soaked. So was the gear.
So this is a bracket blend because it was dark up there under the trees at the top of moss mountain. Let me know what you think.
They may be noisy, they may be messy at times, but the local feral Peafowl sure now how to impress as well.
These rather fine boy turkeys were busy showing off their finery to the hens who weren't very impressed with them. The hens were behind the boys here and concentrating on food!
They were on a working farm that I visited to see snowdrops!
I took this shot of a glorious sunset over Hayling Island's West Beach recently using a friend's new One Plus 8 Pro smartphone. I was very impressed with the super wide angle lens, as well as the colour reproduction of the sensor.
The Anna's hummingbird doesn't seem too impressed by life, hoping to have the flowers and feeders to himself, he is having difficulty in keeping the other hummingbirds away

Well, I've had a frustrating week. Tried the Windows 10 update (encouraged by my tech guys at work to fix some issues) and for every glitch I fixed, I had 2 more problems with this installation. I uninstalled it all, then more work began retrieving all my original settings......I'm almost back to a "clean" system but it has taken hours and hours of time to figure it all out!!
Anyone else have this problem? I wonder how many of you have tried and liked the new W10 update?!
(This is not Macey in the picture.....we met this grumpy fellow on a summer cabin trip last year. He's not exactly a people lover. :)
