The Palais Kinsky, also known as the Palais Daun-Kinsky, is located at the Freyung 4 in the inner city at the junction of Lord's street. It is one of the most important high Baroque palaces of Vienna.
History

The palace was in 1713-1719 by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt built for field marshal Wirich Philipp Graf Daun - in the aftermath of eliminating the threat of the Ottoman Empire, as Vienna gloriosa originated. On May 7, 1763 prince Józef Poniatowski, the Polish general and marshal of France, was born here. In 1764 it was purchased by count Khevenhüller. 1784 the palais came to Rosa countess Kinsky. For a time it was a base of the City Guard, a precursor of the police. After 1945, an officer club of the British occupation power was housed in the Palais. Today the palace is owned by Karl Wlaschek; in the second courtyard of the house is the Wlaschek Mausoleum. According to Vienna's law may be erected tombs in its own grounds from an area of 2000 m². Of this law Wlaschek made use to commission in the Palais Kinsky a mausoleum for his family. Here now not only rest his parents but also his fourth wife who died in 2003.

The remarkable facade with its to Roman models oriented portal with its decorative elements was until well into the 19th century style forming in Vienna.
Equally remarkable is the interior design with the staircase (design probably of Antonio Beduzzi) and the ceiling frescoes in the main floor. These are works of Carlo Carlone - with quadrature painting by Marcantonio Chiarini - and represent the apotheosis of count Daun. The staircase here opens up in two overlapping, by each a intermediate landing interrupted rows two main floors, which at the facade are aggregated by a colossal arrangement of eight pilasters. The last storey inside of the stairwell is marked by a circumferential balcony, which forms a kind of framing for the ceiling fresco and the illusory perspective of the image above it letting appear even more floating and unreal.
The sculptures inside stem as probably also the figures on the outer portal from Joseph Kracker. The side wings were rebuilt several times in the 19th century, the equipment comes inter alia from Rudolf Weyr.
The master stonemasons Hans Georg Haresleben and Simon Sasslaber from Kaisersteinbruch created of Kaiserstein, inter alia, the main gate, the steps of the grand staircase, door and window stones and base plates.

Das Palais wurde von 1713 bis 1719 von Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt für Feldmarschall Wirich Philipp Graf Daun erbaut, − in der Zeit nach Beseitigung der Bedrohung durch das Osmanische Reich, als Vienna gloriosa entstand. Am 7. Mai 1763 wurde Fürst Józef Antoni Poniatowski, der Polnische General und Marschall von Frankreich, hier geboren. 1764 erwarb es Graf Khevenhüller. 1784 kam es an Rosa Gräfin von Kinsky. Eine Zeit lang war es Stützpunkt der Stadtguardia, eines Vorläufers der Polizei. Nach 1945 war im Palais ein Offiziersklub der britischen Besatzungsmacht untergebracht. Heute ist das Palais im Besitz von Karl Wlaschek; im 2. Hof des Hauses befindet sich das Wlaschek-Mausoleum. Laut Wiener Gemeindegesetz dürfen Grabstätten auf eigenem Grund ab einer Fläche von 2000 m² errichtet werden. Das nützte Wlaschek, um im Palais Kinsky ein Mausoleum für seine Familie in Auftrag zu geben. Hier ruhen nun nicht nur seine Eltern, sondern auch seine vierte Ehefrau, die im Jahre 2003 verstarb.

Die bemerkenswerte Fassade mit ihrem an römischen Vorbildern orientierten Portal war mit ihren dekorativen Elementen bis weit ins 19. Jahrhundert hinein in Wien stilbildend.
Ebenso bemerkenswert ist die Innenausstattung mit dem Stiegenhaus (Entwurf wahrscheinlich von Antonio Beduzzi) und den Deckenfresken in der Beletage. Diese stammen von Carlo Carlone − mit Quadraturmalerei von Marcantonio Chiarini − und stellen die Apotheose des Grafen Daun dar. Die Stiege erschließt hier in zwei übereinanderliegenden, von je einem Zwischenpodest unterbrochenen Läufen zwei Hauptgeschoße, die an der Fassade durch eine Kolossalordnung von acht Pilastern zusammengefasst sind. Das letzte Geschoß wird im Inneren des Stiegenhauses durch einen umlaufenden Balkon markiert, der für das Deckenfresko eine Art Rahmung bildet und die illusionäre Perspektive des Bildes darüber noch schwebender und unwirklicher erscheinen lässt.
Die Skulpturen im Inneren wie wahrscheinlich auch die Figuren am Außenportal stammen von Joseph Kracker. Die Seitentrakte wurden im 19. Jahrhundert mehrmals umgebaut, die Ausstattung stammt unter anderem von Rudolf Weyr.

Rec important per a regar l'horta, per a fabricar paper i, en general, per a energia hidràulica. Prové de la Passada, en terme de Sant Quintí, i acaba a cal Carol, dins el nucli urbà. Oficialment, és anomenat "la sèquia comunal"; per a la gent de la població "rec de la Vila" i per als paperers "rec de Dalt", al segle XVIII, també s'havia dit "Rec Major". Al llarg del seu camí es bifurca en molts canals. Després de recórrer el terme municipal de Sant Quintí de Mediona, i passar pel molí del Fogàs, encara no de Sant Pere, s'endinsa per fi a aquest municipi, arribant a cal Bielet i posteriorment, penetrant per les Planes. És en aquest punt on la riera de Mediona canvia de nom i es transforma en el riu de Bitlles. Després de deixar les Planes i passar per la Bassa, travessa el camí d'accés a aquesta masia, vorejant la zona de regadiu del molí de les Toeses, on arriba finalment. Aquí, una branca agafa aigua per la bassa de l'antic molí, que encara conserva en molt bon estat la roda que movia l'aigua. El canal continua des de aquest punt, passant ara per l'antic Forn del Sabater, i creuant per sobre el Torrent d'en Guilló, que és salvat mitjançant l'aqüeducte del Pont Nou. Voreja la zona del Canyet, resseguint la muntanya de Sant Jeroni fins arribar als molins de Dalt i, després de deixar al costat la bassa de Cal Jan, a partir d'aquí es vertebra en dos ramals: un que passa pel molí de Cal Maçana cap el nucli urbà i que servia també a l'antic Escorxador, anomenat més popularment rec de la Vila, arribant al camí vell de Sant Quintí, per on entra a la vila. El Rec de la Vila passa pel darrere de les cases d'aquest carrer i arriba a la plaça de les Eres. Continua pel camí que comunica la plaça amb el camí de Baix, aquest era conegut com Darrere el Rec. Finalment seguint les eixides del camí arriba al riu passant per diversos molins: cal Ròmul, cal Ton del Pere, cal Xerta, cal Carol, el molí de la Font o de Fontanilles, i un altre avui desaparegut anomenat el Molinet o molí de Moray, que es situava entre cal Ròmul i cal Ton del Pere. També té una altra derivació que va cap les planes de la Baieta, salvant el torrent del mateix nom per un petit aqüeducte. Un segon ramal, de caràcter més agrícola i no tan intens com el del rec de l'Horta, que va cap els horts de Can Prades i l'Arrabassada, on es troben dos aqüeductes més, el del Cavaller - que salva el torrent de Can Prades-, i el del Sabater, que salva el torrent homònim. El Rec, des del seu naixement, alimenta 16 molins paperers al llarg del seu recorregut, diferents basses, i els múltiples bitllots que hi ha ajuden a distribuir l'aigua convertint extenses zones en terrenys de regadiu. El més interessant del seu trajecte, pel que fa a la seva funció de canal de regadiu està als encontorns de les masies de les Planes i de les Planes Noves. Els materials amb que està executat varien molt en funció del lloc i de l'última reparació que s'hi hagi fet.
Observacions: L'aqüeducte del Pont Nou es va fer per passar-hi aquest rec.
La concessió de les aigües (10.000.000 de litres d'aigua diaris), les quals afloren al municipi de Sant Quintí, sembla que té el seu origen en la donació del terme, ja que foren donades conjuntament per Guifré i la seva muller Guisla, comptes de Cerdanya, al monestir benedictí de Sant Martí de l'Isola Gallinara, l'any 1012. Confirma aquest fet una sentència a favor del monestir de Sant Pere de l'any 1281 sobre l'ús del pont per regar les terres del monestir (TORRENTS, A. En premsa). Datat el 24 d'octubre de l'any 1487, existeix un document de venda de la casa de les Planes Velles, propietat de Joana Queralt, esposa de Joan Romanyà, a Joan Miquel. En aquest document s'identifica el nom de la casa com "mas Lotats" i la venda inclou, a més d'edificis, terres, honors, possessions, horts, camps, deveses i vinyes; el que sembla més interessant els "reguis, aquis" i "aqueductibus". En el segle XVI, en un document datat l'any 1527, l'Abat de Montserrat donà llicència a Joan Miquel per construir un o més molins fariners i paperers al pujol de Lloranàs. El 23 d'abril de 1757 es va fer el primer reglament conegut d'ús del canal, entre l'abadia, l'Ajuntament i el Marqués de Llió. En aquest reglament es parla de la necessitat de fer diverses obres: eixamplar el canal, fer diversos "trastelladors" , ponts i desguassos per evitar que les aigües pluvials embrutessin el rec, donar sortides d'aigua a diversos propietaris i fer tapar forats a altres. Les obres s'haurien de pagar per una banda pel Marqués i Antoni Rovira i per altra, pel comú. El 27 d'agost de 1758, l'arrendador del molí del marquès de Llió, Francesc Busquer, explicava en una carta que alguns veïns treien aigua del rec per tirar-la a la riera i que el batlle utilitzava el rec per amarar el seu cànem en comptes de la riera, els regidors de l'Horta Subirana prenien aigua per al seu rec, així mateix les dones agafaven aigua per rentar, La resposta del comú va ser la d'empresonar el denunciant. El 30 de novembre de 1760 Antoni-Joan Rovira estava completament arruïnat i va vendre a l'encant el molí fariner i els dos molins paperers que tenia. Van ser adquirits tots pel marqués de Llió, el qual es va convertir en el major propietari de molins de la conca del riu de Bitlles. El 24 de juliol de 1783 es data una carta de queixa dels paperers Josep Llorens i Francesc Farreras a l'abat de Montserrat respecte de la manca d'aigua del rec, fet que obeïa a l'actuació dels pagesos . El 1936 movia les rodes de fusta dels següents molins paperers: Molí del Maçana, Cal Ròmul, Cal Ton del Pere, Cal Xerta, Cal Carol i el molí de la Font. Entre cal Ròmul i cal Ton del Pere havia existit un altre dit del Molinet o molí de Moray.

The temples are the most important megalithic structures on Malta, and are powerfully impressive, despite the fact that they are hemmed in by 20th-century buildings. Historians agree that what remains in Tarxien today was part of a much greater settlement, but modern developments seem to have precluded the possibility of further exciting discoveries. A visit to the Museum of Archaeology in Valletta is advisable, to help translate what can appear at first sight to be an impressive but random collection of large rocks. The museum has a helpful three-dimensional model of the site and an artist’s impression of what the structures originally looked like. It should be noted that many (easily discernible) preventative repairs have been made, and that the altars, statues and friezes are copies. The originals and other finds are housed in the museum.
Not long before the First World War, and after the discovery of the Hypogeum, a farmer complained at the constant blunting by large stones of his plough. The antennae of Dr. Themistocles Zammit twitched and in 1914 he began his five-year excavation of the site.
Three main temple structures an the remains of a small fourth (numbers refer to the site plan) wer unearthed: The South, the Central, the East, and the Early. All except the last structure to be built, the Central Temple, are sited in a southeast quadrant. With the exception of the Early Temple, which dates back to the older Gfantija phase, the three principal temples date back to the eponymous Tarxien phase (3000-2500 BC). These wer the last of the temple structures to be constructed by prehistoric man in Malta.
In the four-apsed South Temple is the huge and sadly headless statue of an elephantine female, possible the ‘fat’ goddess of fertility (she must have stood more than 8 feet tall). Dr. Trump, the former curator of the Museum of Archaeology, has eloquently described her: ‘She wears a very full pleated skirt. It would be ungentlemanly to quote her hip measurements, and her calves are in proportion. The is supported, however, on small, elegant, but seriously overworked feet. ‘To her right is an altar niche above delicately carved spiral stonework. The space behind the niche revealed a collection of animal bones and a flint knife place. To the left or in the west apse are more animal friezes, although less recognizable, and in the centre a pitted bowl. Through what was the temple’s inner door is the decorated central niche.
The Central Temple, more than 75feet high, is unique in Malta for having three pairs of apses rather than two and was builty after the Sourth and East Temples. The predominant feature is reddening of the stone, possibly caused by an inferno that marked the end of the temple-building period 4,500 years ago. The further you go inwards, due to the lie of the land, the more the structure’s condition improves. The central court is striking, if only for the manner in which man was able to fit huge slabs of limestone together.
There are two bowls in the left apse, the larger of which was hewn from one piece of rock. Entry to the third pair of apses, and what may have been the priests’ inner sanctum, is barred by the finest and most powerful carving here, the oculus motif stone. Very little is left of the East Temple, even less of the oldest Early Temple. The large stones outside were part of the enclosing wall.
While it seems pretty unlikely that the Tarxien Temples saw anything other than religious rites, try to bring an inquisitive mind. They might, after all, have been the site of a cattle market.

The foundation of the collection consists of 205 mostly French and Dutch paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries which Margravine Karoline Luise acquired 1759-1776. From this collection originate significant works, such as The portrait of a young man by Frans van Mieris the Elder, The winter landscape with lime kiln of Nicolaes Pieterszoon Berchem, The Lacemaker by Gerard Dou, the Still Life with hunting equipment and dead partridge of Willem van Aelst, The Peace in the Chicken yard by Melchior de Hondecoeter as well as a self-portrait by Rembrandt van Rijn. In addition, four still lifes of Jean Siméon Chardin and two pastoral scenes by François Boucher, having been commissioned directly by the Marchioness from artists.
A first significant expansion the museum received in 1858 by the collection of canon Johann Baptist von Hirscher (1788-1865) with works of religious art of the 15th and 16th centuries. This group includes works such as two tablets of the Sterzinger altar and the wing fragment The sacramental blessing of Bartholomew Zeitblom. From 1899 to 1920, the native of Baden painter Hans Thoma held the position of Director of the Kunsthalle. He acquired old masterly paintings as the tauberbischofsheim altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald and drove the expansion of the collection with art of the 19th century forward. Only his successors expanded the holdings of the Art Gallery with works of Impressionism and the following generations of artists.
The permanent exhibition in the main building includes approximately 800 paintings and sculptures. Among the outstanding works of art of the Department German painters of the late Gothic and Renaissance are the Christ as Man of Sorrows by Albrecht Dürer, the Carrying of the Cross and the Crucifixion by Matthias Grünewald, Maria with the Child by Lucas Cranach the Elder, the portrait of Sebastian Brant by Hans Burgkmair the elder and The Nativity of Hans Baldung. Whose Margrave panel due to property disputes in 2006 made it in the headlines and also led to political conflicts. One of the biggest buying successes which a German museum in the postwar period was able to land concerns the successive acquisition of six of the seven known pieces of a Passion altar in 1450 - the notname of the artist after this work "Master of the Karlsruhe Passion" - a seventh piece is located in German public ownership (Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Cologne).
In the department of Dutch and Flemish paintings of the 16th century can be found, in addition to the aforementioned works, the portrait of the Marchesa Veronica Spinola Doria by Peter Paul Rubens, Moses strikes the rock and water flows for the thirsty people of Israel of Jacob Jordaens, the still life with kitchen tools and foods of Frans Snyders, the village festival of David Teniers the younger, the still life with lemon, oranges and filled clay pot by Willem Kalf, a Young couple having breakfast by Gabriel Metsu, in the bedroom of Pieter de Hooch, the great group of trees at the waterfront of Jacob Izaaksoon van Ruisdael, a river landscape with a milkmaid of Aelbert Jacobsz. Cuyp as well as a trompe-l'œil still life of Samuel van Hoogstraten.
Further examples of French paintings of the 17th and 18th centuries are, the adoration of the golden calf of Claude Lorrain, preparations for dance class of the Le Nain brothers, the portrait of Marshal Charles-Auguste de Matignon by Hyacinthe Rigaud, the portrait of a young nobleman in hunting costume of Nicolas de Largillière, The storm of Claude Joseph Vernet and The minuet of Nicolas Lancret. From the 19th century can be found with Rocky wooded valley at Civita Castellana by Gustave Courbet, The Lamentation of Eugène Delacroix, the children portrait Le petit Lange of Édouard Manet, the portrait of Madame Jeantaud by Edgar Degas, the landscape June morning near Pontoise by Camille Pissarro, homes in Le Pouldu Paul Gauguin and views to the sea at L'Estaque by Paul Cézanne further works of French artists at Kunsthalle.
One focus of the collection is the German painting and sculpture of the 19th century. From Joseph Anton Koch, the Kunsthalle possesses a Heroic landscape with rainbow, from Georg Friedrich Kersting the painting The painter Gerhard Kügelgen in his studio, from Caspar David Friedrich the landscape rocky reef on the sea beach and from Karl Blechen view to the Monastery of Santa Scolastica. Other important works of this department are the disruption of Adolph Menzel as well as the young self-portrait, the portrait Nanna Risi and The Banquet of Plato of Anselm Feuerbach.
For the presentation of the complex of oeuvres by Hans Thoma, a whole wing in 1909 at the Kunsthalle was installed. Main oeuvres of the arts are, for example, the genre picture The siblings as well as, created on behalf of the grand-ducal family, Thoma Chapel with its religious themes.
Of the German contemporaries of Hans Thoma, Max Liebermann on the beach of Noordwijk and Lovis Corinth with a portrait of his wife in the museum are represented. Furthermore the Kunsthalle owns works by Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, Carl Spitzweg, Arnold Böcklin, Hans von Marées, Wilhelm Leibl, Fritz von Uhde, Wilhelm Trübner and Max Klinger.
In the building of the adjacent Orangerie works of the collection and new acquisitions from the years after 1952 can be seen. In two integrated graphics cabinets the Kupferstichkabinett (gallery of prints) gives insight into its inventory of contemporary art on paper. From the period after 1945, the works Arabs with footprints by Jean Dubuffet, Sponge Relief RE 48; Sol. 1960 by Yves Klein, Honoring the square: Yellow center of Josef Albers, the cityscape F by Gerhard Richter and the Fixe idea by Georg Baselitz in the Kunsthalle. The collection of classical modernism wandered into the main building. Examples of paintings from the period to 1945 are The Eiffel Tower by Robert Delaunay, the Improvisation 13 by Wassily Kandinsky, Deers in the Forest II by Franz Marc, People at the Blue lake of August Macke, the self-portrait The painter of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the Merzpicture 21b by Kurt Schwitters, the forest of Max Ernst, Tower gate II by Lyonel Feininger, the Seven Deadly Sins of Otto Dix and the removal of the Sphinxes by Max Beckmann. In addition, the museum regularly shows special exhibitions.

Eine erste wesentliche Erweiterung erhielt das Museum 1858 durch die Sammlung des Domkapitulars Johann Baptist von Hirscher (1788–1865) mit Werken religiöser Kunst des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts. Die Dauerausstellung im Hauptgebäude umfasst rund 800 Gemälde und Skulpturen. Zu den herausragenden Kunstwerken der Abteilung deutsche Maler der Spätgotik und Renaissance gehören der Christus als Schmerzensmann von Albrecht Dürer, die Kreuztragung und Kreuzigung von Matthias Grünewald, Maria mit dem Kinde von Lucas Cranach der Ältere, das Bildnis Sebastian Brants von Hans Burgkmair der Ältere und die Die Geburt Christi von Hans Baldung. Dessen Markgrafentafel geriet durch Eigentumsstreitigkeiten 2006 in die Schlagzeilen und führte auch zu politischen Auseinandersetzungen. Einer der größten Ankaufserfolge, welche ein deutsches Museum in der Nachkriegszeit verbuchen konnte, betrifft den sukzessiven Erwerb von sechs der sieben bekannten Tafeln eines Passionsaltars um 1450 – der Notname des Malers nach diesem Werk „Meister der Karlsruher Passion“ – eine siebte Tafel befindet sich in deutschem öffentlichen Besitz (Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Köln).
In der Abteilung niederländischer und flämischer Malerei des 16. Jahrhundert finden sich mit Felsiges Waldtal bei Cività Castellana von Gustave Courbet, Die Beweinung Christi von Eugène Delacroix, dem Kinderbildnis Le petit Lange von Édouard Manet, dem Bildnis der Madame Jeantaud von Edgar Degas, dem Landschaftsbild Junimorgen bei Pontoise von Camille Pissarro, Häuser in Le Pouldu von Paul Gauguin und Blick auf das Meer bei L’Estaque von Paul Cézanne weitere Arbeiten französischer Künstler in der Kunsthalle.

There are two important lessons to be learned from this photo taken during the 2017 Epcot Festival of the Arts:
1. Always carry a pocket watch so you'll know if you are late for a very important date. (Especially of you are a forgetful white rabbit.)
2. Always pay attention to the background when taking a photo. It's easy to get lost in the subject matter and forget about distracting elements other places in the scene.

oh yeah, to sleep. i slept ALL day. i hate it just a little bit. didn't get any of the studying i wanted to do.
i haven't really talked to boyfriend yet today, as a consequence, but i did get in some great roommate time, which we've been awful at. We went to the Media Library and rented Session 9 [which was AWESOME.] Then made an egg sandwich, which was delicious.

Undoubtedly the most important holiday of the year, Easter draws huge crowds into the cities where “carpets” of sawdust, flowers, and other plant matter are hand-crafted by the locals and line the streets where the parades are to take place. A massive wooden platform of Jesus and mother Mary carried by religious participants, make their way through the city streets, surrounded by thousands of citizens, the men dressed in purple robes, the women in black and white. The complexity of the symbolism behind these practices is a long, long story. But even with a limited understanding, it is easy to appreciate the work and devotion put in by the communities during this week of celebration.

Gurupurnima is the most important day in the year where we praise our Gurudev and thank him from the bottom of our hearts for everything that He is giving to us.
Devotees from all around the world gathered to celebrate this special day at the Shree Peetha Nilaya Ashram, the headquarters of Bhakti Marga, in Germany.
The Day started with Pada Puja followed by Guruji performing puja to His personal Deities. With that started the Bhajan Mala where all the devotees sang 108 Bhajans devoted to Guruji.
In the Evening there was Pada Abhishek to Gurujis feet and all the devotees could come and offer their love for Him.
The Day ended with a magical candle light dinner outside the main entrance.

Hutong represents an important culture element of Beijing city. Thanks to Beijing’s long history and status as capital for six dynasties, almost every hutong has its anecdotes, and some are even associated with historic events. In contrast to the court life and elite culture represented by the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven, the hutongs reflect the culture of grassroots Beijingers. The hutongs are residential neighborhoods which still form the heart of Old Beijing.
Hutongs (simplified Chinese: 胡同; traditional Chinese: 衚衕; pinyin: hútòng) are a type of narrow streets or alleys, most commonly associated with Beijing, China. In Beijing, hutongs are alleys formed by lines of siheyuan, traditional courtyard residences.[1] Many neighbourhoods were formed by joining one siheyuan to another to form a hutong, and then joining one hutong to another. The word hutong is also used to refer to such neighbourhoods.
Since the mid-20th century, the number of Beijing hutongs has dropped dramatically as they are demolished to make way for new roads and buildings. More recently, some hutongs have been designated as protected areas in an attempt to preserve this aspect of Chinese cultural history

The most important of the 29 buddhist temples of Phuket is Wat Chalong, located in the tambon Chalong, Mueang Phuket district. The temple is located about 8 km southeast of Phuket on the road 4021st. It is dedicated to two highly venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, who with their knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured of a tin miners rebellion in 1876. In the Wat associated teak house in memory of the two monks are kept from them, including gowns worn statues and wax.
Phuket, which is approximately the size of Singapore, is Thailand's largest island. The island is connected to mainland Thailand by a bridge. It is situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoyed a rich and colorful history. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ship logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch and English traders. The region now derives much of its income from tourism.
The name Phuket (of which the ph sound is an aspirated p) is apparently derived from the word bukit in Malay which means hill, as this is what the island appears like from a distance. The region was formerly referred to as "Thalang," derived from the old Malay "Telong" which means "Cape." The northern district of the province, which was the location of the old capital, still uses this name.

WIE is committed to women and diversity and the world community, focusing on the important issue of racial trust, reaching out to women of all ages, economic classes and ethnicities. The impact of WIE's misssion - to buiild trust across race and culture - will help transform our region.
