The Joint Arms Control Implementation Group is a tri-service organisation responsible for implementing national arms control policy on behalf of the UK Government. As such, it conducts arms control inspections abroad (mainly, but not exclusively, Former Warsaw Pact and Former Soviet Union), and escorts inbound inspections of British Forces in Germany, UK and Cyprus.

My "Treaty", carried on inspections, fitting in a combat jacket pocket. In the early 2000s, a more flash, black version was produced, but it was flimsier and bulkier than the old green ones so I never bothered drawing one. This one contains the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty, and the Vienna Document (1999). I scrounged another green cover for my Dayton Accord agreements.

From a small cake cutter to mechanical scissor, from a play pump to rickshaw operated food grain spreader and from a village refrigerator to a multi-purpose machine, thousands of such inventions and innovations are proof of Dr. Panda's brilliance.

With no agricultural background, Dr. Panda has developed unique natural bonsai in his Vijnana Bana Ashram which also shows path for earning just by uprooting and nurturing the plants which are found to be small and thumb in nature.

Dr. Panda's Scientific Endeavour and research is no doubt praise worthy. One cannot but believe his dedicated effort in simple innovation laboratory.

Social service, innovation/ inventions, writing, free technology to students for preparation of science exhibition projects, free technology to common men for their sustainability, preparation of big natural bonsai, technology for entrepreneurs and industrialists for innovative item are few works of Mihir Kumar Panda after his Government service.

. To overcome the difficulties of science and math, explanation in classes, innovator Panda has created few thousands of educational, societal and scientific innovations which helps teachers and students of the country and abroad.

Dr. Panda believes that though inventions/innovation has reached under thousands and thousands deep in the sea and high up in the space. It has reached on moon and mars, but unfortunately the sustainable inventions/innovation has not properly gone to the tiny tots and common people.

espiritualidade, recolhimento

e apoio social. Na sua

génese, está a resposta das

populações do nordeste

transmontano à mensagem

de Fátima, através de uma

acção liderada por um

sacerdote natural da região: o

P. Manuel Joaquim Ochôa.

Começou a ser edificado em

1961. Para a sua construção

foi necessária a colaboração

de todo o povo de Cerejais,

homens e mulheres; eles com

quatrocentos carros de bois

de pedra e elas com o transporte de toda a água necessária à construção,

muita da qual foi transportada em cântaros, à cabeça.

Além da capela principal, fazem parte do conjunto do santuário:

l O Calvário (fig.1.1) com uma capelinha onde se encontra um conjunto

escultórico, em tamanho natural, que representa o encontro da Mãe

Dolorosa com o seu Divino Filho.

l Uma Via-sacra que percorre o caminho entre a Capela e o Calvário e

cujas cruzes foram esculpidas em granito da aldeia de Romeu.

Dois anos mais tarde, em 28 de Maio de 1967, celebrou-se a “festa dos

Bispos” como ficou conhecida a inauguração dos quinze Mistérios do

Rosário, que estão representados por outras tantas figuras esculpidas que

se distribuem à beira do caminho entre a capela e a Loca do Cabeço. Com

efeito, nas cerimónias desta inauguração, estiveram presentes os bispos

de Bragança-Miranda, Leiria, Lamego e Dili.

Em 1976 foi edificado o primeiro pavilhão da Casa dos Pastorinhos e foi

ampliada a torre sineira.

1977 foi o ano da comemoração do 60º aniversário das aparições em

Fátima e o Santuário dos Cerejais foi o ponto central das comemorações

na diocese de Bragança-Miranda.

seu desejo ao rei que logo pensou juntar o útil ao agradável: fez a vontade

à esposa e aproveitou o pretexto para construir uma fortificação militar nas

proximidades, dado que se tratava de um local estratégico para a

segurança do reino.

A administração da capela e dos seus folgados proventos determinados

por D. Dinis foi entregue aos frades beneditinos do mosteiro do Castro da

Avelãs, que se localiza a cerca de 30 km de distância, próximo a Bragança.

No reinado de D. João III, foi construída a catedral de Miranda, que passou

a ser a sede da diocese para quem passou a administração do santuário.

Durante todos estes anos, as actividades de culto foram promovidas pela

confraria que contava sempre com um mordomo castelhano, o que

confirma a grande influência que o santuário exerce do outro lado da

fronteira. Do lado espanhol o Santuário é designado por “La Ribeiriña”.

Apesar da grande quantidade de romeiros e da celebração anual das

grandes romarias, o templo chegou ao final do século XIX num estado de

apreciável degradação. Providencialmente surgiu um benemérito, próspero

emigrante no Brasil, natural de Castrelos, de seu nome António do Carmo

Pires.

A set of agreed conclusions called for enhancing the basis for rapid progress, including stronger laws, policies and institutions, better data and scaled-up financing.

The Commission recognized women’s vital role as agents of development. It acknowledged that progress on the Sustainable Development Goals at the heart of Agenda 2030 will not be possible without gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

ANSPA escalates issue of schools’ delay in implementation of Fee Regulatory Bill by Taresh bhardwaj

The All Noida School Parents Association (ANSPA) on Friday wrote a letter to the additional chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay Aggarwal, over the delay in implementation of Fee Regulatory Bill 2018-19.

In April this year, the Yogi government approved an ordinance to regulate school fees charged by private schools (Fee Regulatory Bill), including minority institutions, affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and the UP Board of Secondary Education.

Yatendra Kasana, president of ANSPA told City Spidey that despite the start of the new session, Apeejay School, DPS, and several other schools have still not implemented the regulations.

K Arunachalam, general secretary of ANSPA said, “We had talks with Sanjay Aggarwal on the matter during his Noida visit. In July, he wrote a letter to the education department of the UP to speed up implementation but still, the scenario has not changed.”

The letter read: “The school management will have to upload the details of the fee structure on their website from the 2015-16 to 2018-19. The parents should be able to get information about the school fee structure online from home. These details are to be uploaded on the website by all schools by July 15. But, schools are not showing any interest in it.”

Kasana also said that the private schools in Noida like Bal Bharti School and Apeejay School started a new tradition to lodge a complaint against the parents over the protest against the fee hike. “A few days back, the management of Apeejay School lodged the complaint against the 10 parents of the school but still FIR has not been lodged by police,” Kasana added.

Arunachalam said, “Bal Bharti School charges Rs 1,000 for making the identity card. Previously, the school charge was Rs 100 only. But, from August 1, they hiked the charge by 10 times through a circular.”

“If a student wants any correction in the identity card like the correction in name and address then they charge Rs 200 for it. Now, the schools have becomes a business instead of a knowledge sharing platform,” he added.

“We are paying hefty amounts to schools. But, few incidents reveal the truth of the security of the students in the school. We have an example of Step By Step school incident where around 190 students and school staffs fell ill after having lunch within the premises of Step by Step school,” said Arunachalam.

“Last month, there was no outcome after the heinous rape of a three-and-half-year-old girl. The government and district officer are silent on this matter. It shows the inability of the government to take action against the private schools,” Arunachalam added.

"If the government will not help the parents in implementing this ordinance then parents association will protest on the road with a large number of parents," ANSPA members said.

Members of ANSPA said that if the ordinance will not be implemented by the schools then they will not take part in the 2019 elections and also oppose the elections.

In April this year, the UP cabinet decided that the process of charging school fees will be transparent and any school will be able to charge fees only through four means. These will include prospectus fees, admission fees, examination fees and joint annual fees.

Private schools’ arbitrariness will be curbed

The optional fee, bus fee, excursion fees and charges for educational camps can only be taken from students if they participate in such activities. Further, schools will have to provide a receipt for all sorts of fees. Even the schools functioning under the CBSE and ICSE board will have to follow these rules.

During a press conference earlier, it was declared that the decisions undertaken by the cabinet regarding school fees will be applicable in the year 2018-19.

School fees can be paid in four instalments within a year

The government had also declared that students need not pay the whole school fees together. The annual fees can be paid on a half-yearly or quarterly basis also. Further, once these rules are implemented, schools will not be able to force parents to buy copies or bags from any one shop. Even the school dress cannot be changed before the completion of five years.

Teachers’ salaries set to increase

The cabinet also decided that the school teachers’ salary should increase in proportion to the school fee hike. Further, it declared that the hike shouldn’t be more than 5-7 per cent in any aspect. Business activities, such as the functioning of guest houses, shops, etc. will also be controlled if they are being run inside schools.

It is also important to provide information regarding the school’s earnings and utilise it for the school’s development to reduce students’ fees and to provide teachers' salaries. The income will have to be shown in the school’s account.

Violation of norms may lead to cancellation of the school’s accreditation

The Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh had announced in the press conference that the state government will set up fee regulation committees at the commissioner level in all zones across the state.

If any school violates the norms of fee regulations, it will be punished with Rs 1 lakh for the first time and Rs 5 lakh for the second violation. If a school continues to violate the rules, its accreditation will be cancelled.

Rubeus Hagrid took Harry Potter to Diagon Alley to get the things he would need for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After meeting Draco Malfoy for the first time at Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Harry was upset. So Hagrid took him to Scribbulus Writing Implements next, and his spirits uplifted slightly when he saw a bottle of Colour-Change Ink.

The magical Diagon Alley was the place where Hagrid took young Harry Potter to shop for school supplies. Through the glass-roofed Leadenhall Market, they reached the storefront at 42 Bull's Head Passage & entered The Leaky Cauldron pub. The pub's back wall parted bricks by bricks, opening into the magical Diagon Alley. Harry was fascinated by the wands, cauldrons, wizard textbooks & quidditch supplies. Gold Galleons from goblin-run Gringotts Wizarding Bank were widely accepted in this magical alley.

Ministerio de la Producción evalúa implementar un CITE Forestal y Agropecuario en la región Cajamarca

El ITP realizó durante dos meses un levantamiento de información y halló que existe una masa crítica de mypes y productores forestales y agropecuarios con una demanda potencial significativa, que necesita ser potenciada a través de servicios tecnológicos.

Este CITE será útil para darle valor agregado a los productos más representativos de la región, en particular aquellos de la cadena láctea.

La ministra de la Producción, Rocío Barrios, se reunió esta mañana con el Gobernador Regional, Mesías Guevara, para dialogar sobre temas relacionados al desarrollo productivo de Cajamarca.

En la reunión, Barrios informó que el Instituto Tecnológico de la Producción (ITP) realizó durante dos meses un levantamiento de información en la región y halló que existe una masa crítica de mypes y productores que necesita capacitación y asistencia técnica para potenciarlas y acompañarlas en su ingreso al mercado.

“Queremos materializar un plan de trabajo que permita acompañar a Cajamarca en su desarrollo productivo. Es una región muy rica y con potencial, el desafío es intervenir como Estado para darle valor agregado a sus mejores productos, con la intención que puedan generar empleo y se conviertan en un motor de crecimiento”, destacó.

CITE Forestal y Agroindustrial

La titular de PRODUCE sostuvo que se va evaluar la puesta en marcha de un CITE Forestal y Agroindustrial en la región, que en principio funcione como una Unidad Técnica (UT).

Indicó que en las próximas semanas debería iniciarse la intervención a través de la Red de CITE existente, así como el establecimiento de plazos para la posterior implementación del nuevo CITE, con el apoyo del Gobierno Regional de Cajamarca.

“Solicitamos al GORE que nos permitan un lugar habilitado para el local del CITE y su compromiso de apoyar este proyecto”; añadió.

Asimismo, precisó que desde el próximo mes el ITP podría realizar talleres y capacitaciones en la región a través de CITE Cedepas Norte y CITE madera, así como la posibilidad de que mypes cajamarquinas realicen pasantías.

Actividades protocolares

Durante su visita a Cajamarca, la ministra Rocío Barrios participó en la feria Fongal, que promueve la participación de productores de café y cacao con el objetivo de conquistar nuevos mercados a nivel nacional e internacional.

La tradicional feria agropecuaria, agroindustrial, artesanal y turística de Cajamarca, se realiza del 23 al 30 de julio con la intención de mostrar a la población local y a los turistas nacionales y extranjeros, a los mejores expositores y productores de esta región.

De igual manera, estuvo presente en el lanzamiento de la estrategia Cero Papel, a la cual destacó. “En solo seis meses este GORE está dando un salto digital muy importante y los felicito. La transformación digital permite que estemos comunicados y que los ciudadanos accedan a los servicios desde la comodidad de sus hogares”, finalizó.

Workshop on EAF Implementation in the South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Commission (SWIOFC) area held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. by EAF-Nansen Programme

A workshop on the EAF Implementation in the SWIOFC area organised by the EAF-Nansen project has just been held at the White Sands Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The workshop was meant to examine where countries in the SWIOFC area stand in the adoption and implementation of the ecosystem approach to fisheries is a follow up of the previous workshop held in Pretoria, South Africa from 20 to 24 February 2011.

The results of the workshop will be presented at the back to back Sixth Session of the Scientific Committee of the South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Commission, held at the White Sands Hotel as well, from 18 to 21 March 2015.

8th Ave S Sidewalk -- S Sullivan St to S Southern St by SDOT Photos

Three blocks of grand maple trees on 8th Ave S near the South Park Community Center provide critical tree canopy and a sense of place for the neighborhood. Unfortunately, these trees were planted in a narrow planting strip, so their roots have significantly damaged the sidewalk and made it difficult for folks to get around.

King County and the City plan to implement a long term solution to these tree and sidewalk issues in the next few years, so SDOT’s objective in 2016 was to complete interim repairs to improve safety on a relatively small budget. Luckily, we also had a valuable resource: 14’ driving lanes on 8th Ave S. That’s wider than we need even for buses and trucks. This opened possibilities.

Throughout Seattle, SDOT is looking at existing pavement in new ways. By using low cost investments such as paint and planter boxes, we’ve reprogrammed street areas into curb bulbs, sidewalks, and public plazas. With this creative perspective, we gathered feedback from the South Park community on ways to reconfigure 8th Ave S to increase safety for people walking, preserve trees and address other priorities. SDOT crews completed the newly configured three blocks of 8th Ave S this summer.

The updated 8th Ave S keeps street parking on both sides as the neighborhood requested. We narrowed driving lanes to 10.5’, freeing up space to add a 6’ wide protected walkway along the curb, and we closed the damaged sidewalk. As an added benefit, narrower driving lanes tend to slow traffic speeds.

The walkway is protected from traffic by the parking lane and curbs and posts installed by SDOT crews. We also extended the pedestrian space at intersections and reduced the length of the crossings by creating curb bulbs using posts and paint.

In other locations SDOT fully painted these curb bulbs, but in South Park we used a more innovative design using polka dots, which are more eye-catching to drivers. We worked with South Park leaders to match the colors of the polka dots with the colors of the South Park Neighborhood Association logo.

Feedback from the South Park community has been positive about this added sense of place for the neighborhood, the preservation of its stately trees and a safer place to walk.

Through our conversations with community members and the feedback we received, we gathered many ideas that will help us identify a preferred alternative for the neighborhood. Some of the most common ones include:

Maintain street tree canopy along 8th Avenue

Install clear markings for people to travel and transition safely

Provide safe and visible access to bus stops and driveways

Consider designating space for people riding bicycles away from traffic

Install enough protection/barriers between people walking and people driving

Keep proposed walk path clean from leaves and debris regularly

Keep neighbors informed on project progress throughout the process

Preserve parking on both sides of the street to accommodate demand during community center events

By resort to conventional and modern techniques of plant breeding, high quality hybrids species especially of Ocimum and Cymbopogon were developed, notable are the eugenol rich Ocimum hybrid 'Clocimum'(clove scented Tulsi- Oscimum) and geraneol rich Cymbopogon hybrid 'Jamrosa (Jammu equivalent of Palmrosa reputed for its rosaceous odour) which are now commercially cultivated success stories. The studies include biosynthetic studies (geraniol, citral, linalool, in Ocimum spp. and Cymbopogan spp.). Study of inheritance of chemical constituents was carried out for development of improved cultivars of aromatic plants (as a result Jammu lemongrass, Clocimum and Jamrosa are a commercial success). New method of vegetative propagation of Ocimum was developed for the first time in the month of February under certain controlled environment. With the wholly indigenous development of the clocimum at Jammu, the country has become self sufficient in its essential oil Eugenol. MINT INDUSTRY - CONTRIBUTIONS IN INDIA- TECHNOLOGICAL AND SOCIOECONOMICAL SUCCESS-

mint used in flavoring and medicinal industry has become one of the single largest aromatic crops of India, and one of the topmost in mint in the world.

A.HISTORY OF PIONEERING CONTRIBUTIONS OF RRL, Jammu - RRL has been the first pioneer in “wonder plant” Japanese mint in India. One of the star contributions of RRL Jammu to the E.O industry is the introduction, acclimatization and development of Japanese mint (M. arvensis) for cultivation particularly in north India The first director of RRL, Jammu and Father of Indian Pharmacology, Col Sir R. N. Chopra (1941-1957), is credited with first introducing high yielding Japanese mint in India around 1957, received as gift from United Nations. He introduced this mint in India in the late fifties, agrotechnology field experiments were conducted by RRL in the sixties at Chatha experimental farm and a serious effort was made in the sixties and seventies by RRL along with others for its mass utilization in India.

B.BOLD CRYSTALS OF MINT- A BOOST TO THE INDUSTRY-Dr. Atal developed turnkey technology for manufacture of bold crystals of mint / mark into boards in India, which was a significant and major boost to the mint technology in India(this was also introduced in Burma in 1981).Bold crystals provided a cutting edge in the competition in mint industry. Introduction of this significant technology combined with serious sustained mass promotion of high yielding Japanese mint in seventies by Dr. Atal and his RRL team along with many other agencies in 1970’s induced a sort of green revolution in mint and successfully boosted Mint industry in India. India became self sufficient in mint in mid 1980’s.

C.OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS-Dr. Atal, as the president of Essential oil association of India - EOAI (1976-79) also promoted EO and mint industry and mint technology in India. He was also invited as CSIR consultant from India to Burma in 1981 to help establish mint industry in Burma by providing turnkey mint technology and after 1985, implemented UN projects internationally including EO. Other Awards and honors in EO are already discussed above.

D.SCENARIO-India is today a major producer of mint. This work was first started in India by RRL in the nineteen sixties, and vigorously promoted in the seventies in India in a new package of cutting edge technology for bold crystals of Mint. As a result of these efforts, Japanese mint is since then successfully grown in India and this industry grew to become “Rs 100 million” industry by the beginning of 1980’s. The Tarai area of UP state alone was a 10 crore per annum industry in the mid eighties. It has further jumped by leaps and bound since then. The country’s major demand of menthol and mint oil is now met from Japanese mint which was introduced by RRL. Today China and India are world leaders in mint after further boosting efforts put in by CIMAP in the nineteen nineties.

126.MENTHA ARVENSIS (JAPANESE MINT)- Around 1960, a dozen suckers of M. arvensis were procured from Japan through UN. After the stock was carefully multiplied and propagated, it was distributed for large scale cultivation in other parts of the country in the seventies and earlier. The entire mentha cultivation in India owes its origin to the suckers introduced by RRL, Jammu. Better strains containing up to 78 % menthol in the oil were also developed. Japanese mint became a Rs 100 million” industry by the beginning of 1980’s and which has never looked back since then.The Essential oil industry of India was greatly benefited by such processes.

The spring 2013 hackNY student hackathon brought in hundreds of students to Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science April 6-7 for 24 hours of creative collaborative hacking on New York City startups' APIs.

NYC Startups, selected by a student organizing committee, presented their technologies at the beginning of the event, after which students formed groups to work through the night implementing their own ideas for fresh hacks built on top of these APIs.

On Sunday afternoon students presented their projects to an audience including a judging panel featuring members of the NYC startup community, which selected the final winning teams.

Since April 2010, hackNY hosts student hackathons one each semester, as well as the hackNY Fellows program, a structured internship which pairs quantitative and computational students with startups which can demonstrate a strong mentoring environment: a problem for a student to work on, a person to mentor them, and a place for them to work. Startups selected to host a student compensate student Fellows. Students enjoy free housing together and a pedagogical lecture series to introduce them to the ins and outs of joining and founding a startup in NYC.

Con el objetivo de acercar a las mujeres un espacio público itinerante, que

permita escuchar y atender sus necesidades, este día se dio a conocer el

Programa “Entre Mujeres”, el cual operarán conjuntamente **la

Secretaría**de Desarrollo Social y el Sistema Municipal DIF, en el que

también se

contará con la participación de Diconsa, Liconsa, **la Secretaría** de

Salud estatal y ****la Comisión** Estatal** de Derechos Humanos. ****

Lo anterior lo dio a conocer, en rueda de prensa, el Secretario de

Desarrollo Social Municipal, Erik Osornio Medina, quien dijo que con este

programa se atiende la instrucción del Presidente Municipal de Querétaro,

Roberto Loyola Vera y de su esposa Lucy Huber de Loyola, de brindar un

espacio de atención a las mujeres.****

El Programa “Entre Mujeres”, que iniciará el próximo 23 de noviembre en la

explanada del Mercado del Tepetate, se llevará a cabo todos los viernes de

15:00 a 19:00 horas, en donde las mujeres podrán encontrar una respuesta

con perspectiva de género a sus inquietudes en temas como salud, familia,

trabajo, recreación, finanzas, entre otras. ****

“Vamos a tener eventos culturales para las mujeres y trámites como becas y

vivienda; vamos a tener apoyo de **la Secretaría** de Salud del Estado para

la detección de cáncer de mama, cáncer cervicouterino y métodos de

Al destacar la importancia de reconocer el papel preponderante que tiene la

mujer en todos los ámbitos de la sociedad, el Director del Sistema

atención se acercarán los servicios que ofrece el DIF a través de **la

Procuraduría** de **la Defensa** del Menor y **la Familia**, así como de

los Programa DIF Móvil, de Asistencia Social y de Atención Familiar y

2020 York Region implements mandatory face coverings to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by York Region

On July 17, 2020, York Regional Council endorsed a recommendation from York Region Medical Officer of Health Dr. Karim Kurji to issue an instruction requiring operators of enclosed public spaces in York Region to have a policy in place that prohibits persons from entering premises of the establishment if the person is not wearing a face mask or covering. The Regional Municipality of York has endorsed this instruction issued by Dr. Kurji under the provincial Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act's authority to reduce the spread of COVID-19 within our communities.

On October 2, 2020, the provincial government implemented new restrictions to help prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19. This includes mandating the use of masks or face coverings in all public indoor settings across the Province, including businesses, facilities and workplaces, with limited exemptions.

Green Line Training/Demonstration Train by Chicago Transit Authority

As with most major new routings implemented by CTA, we've been running some training/demonstration trains with employees to follow the Green Line's new, temporary routings for during Red Line South Reconstruction. The train operated from Harlem/Lake to Roosevelt, as well as around the full Outer Loop track, and back to Harlem, as some morning and evening rush hour trips will do (respectively).

These photos show information that was posted inside the train—as well as the train itself with its green, Loop and Roosevelt destination signs.

Skoda Edinburgh - 2011 by Space Projects Ltd

Illustrated is the new Arnold Clark concept for Skoda Edinburgh completed this week –13th January 2011. From a standing start Space Projects designed, detailed, contract managed and implemented this completely bespoke centre in twelve weeks including the stripping out of the existing structure.

From the bespoke rugs, chair materials, customer consultation areas, lighting specification, mechanical and electrical layouts, removing of the rear of the building to dealing with a seemingly impossible height issue towards the front of the property, all problems required quick practical head on thinking in order to deliver a trading unit to the client on time.

Splitting the unit on the diagonal coupled with the ramped entranceway deep into the retail space the customer is immediately greeted by an unusual, almost birds eye perspective of displayed vehicles upon arrival, making the transition into the space much more impactful than would normally be the case within a car showroom. The drama is further enhanced by an amphitheatre type staircase at the top of which cars are displayed in a fanned shaped pattern, feature car rotating in the background before then being bounced onto the reception desk, customer consultation areas and lounge area beyond. With hints and flashes of corporate green throughout the environment has been designed to be fresh, bright, modern, efficient, and customer friendly, and if a wait of any kind is required the rear of the unit has been opened up to offer an unrivalled 180° view of the firth of forth which we challenge any dealership to beat on any kind of day.
