Como parte de las acciones comprendidas en el marco de la estrategia en el ámbito migratorio que implementa el Gobierno de El Salvador, el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, llevó a cabo el primer conversatorio denominado “El Salvador es tu casa”, para así acercar a las comunidades en el país información importante sobre el tema, especialmente en lo relacionado al Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS).

Our Safety Delivered program kicked off implementation in Myanmar with a range of activities, including helmet fittings, stakeholder trainings, and baseline knowledge tests with students from the four program schools. AIP Foundation staff conducted trainings for the two volunteers from the Myanmar Engineering Society of Mandalay, our partner organization in the area. We also visited the four program schools to conduct helmet fittings for students and administer a pre-implementation, baseline student knowledge test for 100 students from each school, a representative sample size of all of the grades and schools.
11-13 September 2023 – Cairo - FAO launched the Global Action on Green Development of the Special Agricultural Products (SAPs): “One Country One Priority Product” (OCOP) in September 2021 to address the current and recurring challenges of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition as well as to contribute to the development of smallholders and family farms, amongst other strategic objectives. Following a call for expression of interest, 10 countries in the Near East and North Africa (NENA) joined the OCOP initiative to develop their selected SAPs – carob in Morocco, coffee in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, dates in Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, harissa in Tunisia, figs in Algeria, olive in Syria and pulses in Lebanon. Subsequently, the regional launch of the OCOP initiative in NENA was conducted in June 2022, with the presence of over 700 participants, including government representatives, private sector, research institutions and FAO Country Offices. Within this framework, the development of a sustainable value chain for each SAP can play an essential role in ensuring food security and nutrition, more effective use of underutilized resources, and supporting farmers’ livelihoods and economic growth, while protecting the environment and biodiversity for present and future generations.
In November 2022, FAO launched the OCOP country projects by identifying the first-round demonstration countries to lead the implementation of the OCOP initiative at the country level and in farmers’ fields. The first-round demonstration countries include: Malawi, representing Africa in promoting banana; Bangladesh, representing Asia and Pacific in promoting jackfruit; Uzbekistan, representing Europe and Central Asia in promoting sweet cherry; Trinidad and Tobago, representing Latin America and the Caribbean in promoting cocoa; and Egypt representing Near East and North Africa promoting date palm. Moreover, FAO Regional Office for Near East and North Africa (FAO-RNE) developed a regional project under the Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP). This project supports the governments of six countries – Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia and Yemen in analysing the status of the value chains and designing upgrading strategies for the priority products.
To consolidate the collaborative efforts in all OCOP potential project countries to promote the exchange of best practices among the various support mechanisms and to facilitate the successful implementation of the OCOP initiative in all five regions, FAO is organizing the regional launch events and workshops on the implementation of OCOP country projects in each region. To this end, the FAO regional launch event and workshop on the implementation of OCOP country projects in Near East and North Africa will be organized in Cairo, Egypt, from 11-13 September 2023.

Built between 1919 and 1921, this Collegiate Gothic Revival-style building was designed by Miller, Fullenwider and Dowling and named for the former President of the University of Tennessee, Brown Ayres (1856–1919), whom served as university president from 1904-19. The building replaced the Old College Building, built in 1828, as well as the East College and West College buildings, which were built prior to the US Civil War and were among the oldest buildings on campus, and marked the start of a major campus redevelopment program that extended well into the mid-20th Century that replaced most of the 19th Century buildings with larger Collegiate Gothic Revival-style buildings that define the campus today, with only the South College Building remaining from the time prior to this redevelopment. The building features a central iconic Gothic Revival-style tower with limestone trim, clock faces, an open belfry, and crenellated parapet, which sits on the central wing of the building which features a low slope roof surrounded by a parapet, and entrances on the front and rear with portals and decorative surrounds below multi-story oriel windows. The central wing is flanked by two side wings which feature red shingle gabled roofs, large banks of windows, limestone trim, and several side entrances to the building. Ayres Hall presently houses the Mathematics Department of the University of Tennessee and was rehabilitated between 2008 and 2011, adding several features to the building that were originally planned but never implemented. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

El encuentro ‘Implementación de las prioridades RIS3 en Crecimiento Azul‘, que reunió por primera vez a medio centenar de expertos y actores implicados en las políticas regionales de una docena de países europeos que han identificado la Economía Azul como una de sus prioridades estratégicas, junto a gestores de la Comisión Europea que dan soporte a las regiones y Estados miembros en el contexto de las estrategias de Especialización Inteligente.
Organizado por la Plataforma de Especialización Inteligente (S3 Platform), proyecto del Centro Común de Investigación de la Comisión Europea, y por el Gobierno de Canarias, a través de la ACIISI, el encuentro ha tenido como objetivo conocer cómo se ha priorizado el Crecimiento Azul dentro de las estrategias de especialización inteligente (RIS3) de estas regiones y debatir sobre las propuestas futuras para el desarrollo del sector en las economías europeas y regionales.
El 15 de diciembre 2011 se dio la apertura a la Playa del Deporte, implementada por la Casa del Deporte y la Universidad Andrés Bello, es una iniciativa única en Chile, que se ubica frente al Club Naval de Campo Las Salinas, infraestructura que se complementa con la Cuarta Etapa del Parque del Borde Costero, permitiendo una continuidad y mayor presencia de público en las actividades y talleres que en ella se realizarán.
El recinto contará este año con un court central para mil personas cómodamente sentadas donde se podrán realizar actividades de fútbol, vóleibol y rugby.
Además durante todo el día habrá talleres deportivos y actividades físicas dirigidas a los menores y adultos.
Built in 1900 and 1904, these two Sullivanesque-style buildings were designed by Kees and Colburn for the Advance Thresher Company and Emerson-Newton Implement Company, respectively. The six-story Advance Thresher Company Building was built in 1900 and stands at the corner of 3rd Street and Park Avenue, with the Emerson-Newton Implement Company Building being built to the east in 1904, with slightly shorter floor heights and seven floors in total. The buildings both feature a unified cornice, limestone base, and orange brick facades, with near-identical Sullivanesque trim details, with extensive terra cotta trim around the entryways, reliefs flanking the window bays, on the spandrel panels, and forming the pilaster capitals at the tops of the window bays, with a narrow recessed brick panel marking the location where the two buildings join one another. The buildings differ in that the Advance Thresher Company Building features more strictly decorative ornamentation, while parts of the trim on the Emerson-Newton Implement Company Building feature the company’s products on the two cartouches flanking the window bays. The buildings are similar enough to appear as a single structure at first glance, with only subtle hints that the two are, indeed separate buildings. The side and rear of the buildings away from the street features a simple buff brick facade with rectangular window openings and a clearer delineation between the two. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and today both house commercial office space.

Con el objetivo de implementar un modelo de articulación productiva en el Valle de los ríos Apurímac, Ene y Mantaro (VRAEM) en beneficio de los emprendedores de las cadenas productivas del cacao, café y acuicultura, el presidente del Consejo de Ministros (PCM), Gustavo Adrianzén, el ministro de la Producción (PRODUCE), Sergio González y el ministro de Defensa (MINDEF), Walter Astudillo, participaron en el lanzamiento de la intervención “VRAEM Productivo” en la ciudad de Pichari, en la región Cusco.
El premier Gustavo Adrianzén y el titular de PRODUCE otorgaron 400 mil soles en créditos supervisados a acuicultores de Kimbiri y Pichari en La Convención, Cusco, con la finalidad de impulsar el desarrollo de la acuicultura en el país.
El ministro González Guerrero, destacó que PRODUCE, a través del Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Pesquero (FONDEPES), desde el 2013 lleva a cabo una decidida y comprometida intervención de apoyo financiero en esta zona del país.
“El apoyo financiero que hoy estamos proporcionando a nuestros hermanos acuicultores permitirá la compra de más de 97 toneladas de alimento balanceado para sus cultivos de paco y trucha, lo cual generará la producción de más de 64,710 kg de carne fresca de estas especies", detalló el ministro.
Asimismo, el presidente del Consejo de Ministros, Gustavo Adrianzén, indicó que en lo que va del año se han invertido más de 537 mil soles en el VRAEM para promover la acuicultura como una actividad económica alternativa y rentable. Además, subrayó que esta cifra está muy cerca de la meta que es de S/ 612,000 en adjudicaciones previstas para el 2024 en esta zona del país.
Por otro lado, se entregó fondos por más de 9 millones de soles para financiar 47 proyectos productivos de la zona VRAEM, a través de la Municipalidad Distrital de Pichari y el fondo concursable PROCOMPITE 2024.
Las cadenas productivas beneficiadas abarcan sectores como: turismo, apicultura, porcicultura, cacao, panificación, gastronomía, plátano, artesanía, cítricos, pitahaya, textil y confecciones, acuicultura, entre otros.
Caravana Pesquera “Por las Rutas del VRAEM”
Por otro lado, el Premier Gustavo Adrianzén, el ministro Sergio González y el titular del Mindef, Walter Astudillo, presentaron la Caravana Pesquera “Por las Rutas del VRAEM”, la cual se desarrollará el 12 y 13 de julio de 2024 en las regiones de Ayacucho y Cusco.
La actividad organizada por el Programa Nacional A Comer Pescado (PNACP) del Ministerio de la Producción (Produce), llevó a la mesa de la población de Pichari y de las regiones Cusco y Ayacucho, pescado jurel al precio social de S/. 2.80, contribuyendo así con la erradicación de la anemia y la reactivación económica de los pescadores artesanales que venden directamente sus productos, sin intermediarios.
Durante el primer día de la Caravana Pesquera “Por las Rutas del VRAEM”, se promocionaron cinco toneladas de pescado fresco jurel, paco y trucha en beneficio de la población de la zona del VRAEM y los pescadores artesanales.
Cabe mencionar que, para el segundo día de intervención se ofertarán pescados a precios cómodos y accesibles a la población de los distritos de Tambo, San Miguel, Patibamba, entre otros.
Asimismo, se llevó a cabo la intervención "Cocinando con Pescado", donde los asistentes recibieron formación sobre los beneficios del pescado, técnicas de seco salado y dosificación de alimentos.
Cabe mencionar que, hasta la fecha se han desarrollado 42 ferias de promoción de productos hidrobiológicos, mediante las cuales se ha logrado promocionar la comercialización de 14,621 latas de conservas de pescado y 46,584 kilogramos de pescado, beneficiando a 23,850 de familias de 20 distritos que pertenecen a la zona del VRAEM.
Metas 2024 2026
En esa línea, el ministro de la Producción, Sergio González, destacó que para el 2026 PROCOMPITE impulsará el financiamiento de más de 53 millones de soles en favor de las Mype, cooperativas y asociaciones del VRAEM.
Asimismo, a través de FONDEPES se entregará más de S/ 2 millones de soles en créditos (3% de interés), destinados a la entrega de 400 mil kg de alimento balanceado financiado a los acuicultores al 2026.
La intervención “VRAEM Productivo” permitirá formalizar más de 2, 600 empresas en la zona del VRAEM, y contará con una inversión de S/ 1.3 millones de soles, a través del "Programa Nacional Tu Empresa" de PRODUCE.
Además, desde SANIPES se formalizarán 500 unidades de producción acuícola, a fin que puedan obtener habilitaciones sanitarias. Es importante mencionar que esta iniciativa permitirá producir más de 1 800 toneladas métricas de trucha, paco, tilapia, etc., generando S/ 16 millones de soles en producción acuícola dentro del VRAEM.
Desde el Instituto Tecnológico de la Producción ITP se brindará más de 6,700 servicios tecnológicos a aproximadamente 1,765 unidades productivas de las cadenas de café, cacao, frutos de la zona y acuícola.
Finalmente, desde el programa A Comer Pescado se prevé promocionar más de 250 toneladas de pescado y más de 75 mil latas de conservas de pescado en la zona del VRAEM en de las regiones de Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica y Junín al 2026.

El Campamento Escolar de Ciencias y Tecnología, implementado por CONICYT, a través de su Programa Explora, se llevó a cabo entre el lunes 17 y el viernes 21 de julio, y fue ejecutado por el Proyecto Asociativo Explora (PAR) de Arica y Parinacota de la Universidad de Tarapacá, bajo el nombre “Tras las huellas de la humanidad”.
Entre los científicos que dieron vida al campamento se cuenta el doctor Francisco Rothhammer, Premio Nacional de Ciencias Naturales 2016; y el doctor en Ciencias Matemáticas de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Fernando Blasco, autor de libros como “Matemagia”, que buscan acercar esta disciplina al público general.
Natalia Mackenzie, directora del Programa Explora, explicó: “estamos encabezando una serie de esfuerzos que permitirán a los alumnos tener un rol más protagónico en su proceso de aprendizaje. Uno de ellos es fomentar metodologías que les permitan experimentar de manera lúdica con la ciencia, en lugar de solo sentarse en la sala de clases y absorber contenidos, como ha ocurrido tradicionalmente”.
