Imp, spy for the evil Horde

Orange modified Hillman Imp variant seen on display at the IGNITION Festival of Motoring, Glasgow, August 2017.

The coupe variants of these vehicles were sold as the Hillman Imp Californian, the Sunbeam Stiletto and the Singer Chamois Coupe. Not sure of this one's roots.

Any extra information on the vehicle, the exact model, its history or any work done on it will be gratefully received.

The Hillman Imp was built from 1963 until 1976. In most Western-European countries the Sunbeam brand was used instead of Hillman. The car had its engine in te rear. Interesting is the opening rear hatch to allow luggage to be put into the back seat rest.

In blue is the Hillman Imp, Corgi Toys No 251 made from 1963 to 1969 and the Police car is No 506, Sunbeam Imp Police Car made from 1968 to 1972.

Both come with an opening rear window and folding rear seats operated by the back wheels when the car is pushed down.

The Police car also has glow in the dark Police signs on the doors, jewel headlights and a uniformed driver.

Despite its original goal of preventing smuggling, Her Majesty's Coastguard is not a military force or law enforcement agency, Since 1923, it has functioned primarily as a coastal safety and rescue service, operating out of local shore stations and overseen by the Board of Trade. It became part of Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in 1998. This Hillman Imp represents an actual vehicle (as modelled by Corgi Vanguards) that operated from Fleetwood and later Knott End on the Lancashire Coast. For promotional and public awareness purposes, a version of this livery was carried by a Blackpool tram In the 1990s (30-Oct-15).

The Imp class of light cargo freighters was produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. The base freighter design, like many CEC ships, was modular and came with many options. The 'Besther' model, named for the project lead, featured individualized cargo pods which could be customized to accommodate specific needs.

The Besther Imp XIV was made in the first production run and has faired decently in its 34 years of service. Many non-essential systems no longer function well or at all, and it's space-worthiness is in doubt, but it works well as a planetside-only cargo transport.

The Lucasarts game "1313" was shaping up to be a brand new style of game for the Star Wars brand and a fantastic look at another side of the SW universe. Unfortunately, when Disney bought Lucasfilm they shuttered the Lucasarts game department. While not official, 1313 appears to have been effectively cancelled.

For SHIPtember I decided to pay tribute to what could have been. This ship features prominently in the trailer/demo video for the game, and appears to represent the opening act of the game.

While simple in shape, the detachable cargo pods were what first intrigued me enough to start this project. The ship is, to my best estimate, full minifigure scale. Though similar in looks, this ship would actually be dwarfed by the nearly four-times longer Tantive IV.

The full size of this model is 131.3 studs long, 42 studs wide, and 19 bricks tall. It took two weeks to create, start to finish.

Corgi Toys number 506 - Sunbeam Imp Police Car.

Made from 1968 to 1972 but this black and white version from 1969.

This model comes with an opening rear window and a rear seat that folds using pressure on the rear wheels. The Police signs on the doors also glow in the dark.

I must confess to never being a huge fan of Imps in their day;the few people we knew who had them often seemed to have their cars off the road with recurring problems. However, they are pretty rare today, and it was a nice surprise to come across this one in a car park amongst all the modern stuff.

One of the 'must-find' things on any visit to Lincoln Cathedral is the Lincoln Imp. As befits such a mischievous creature, it can be difficult to capture. Here's a photo to help you. Good luck if you ever try to catch him yourself!
