This increase was mainly accounted for by 3.6 million more arrivals by British and 2.0 million by other EEA and Swiss nationals (+5% to 113.6 million). These numbers represent the number of occasions when a person entered the UK, not the number of distinct individuals.

After a very brief press availability, this loose group of apparently autonomous protesters monitored exits to identify vehicles that might be departing with detainees inside. None appeared; eventually word came down that the Chief Immigration Judge had shut down the court for the day starting at noon — possibly in response to the protest, although this could not be confirmed.
