On August 28, 2014 outside of the White House, CWAers joined more than 2,000 activists from unions, community groups, farm organizations, religious groups, immigrant advocates and others in calling on President Obama to take action now to cut the huge number of people being deported every day – more than 1,000 – and keep families intact.

You have to stand in line for hours underneath the hot tropical sun. Get out of line and you lose your place.

The rally started near City Creek Park, moved up to the state capitol building, and then down to the old county courthouse.

 

There were at least two to three thousand people out supporting immigration reform.

 

There were perhaps four protesters who showed up in opposition, three of whom held signs. I made sure to include them. They didn't follow the rally when it moved from the state capitol.

It was quick getting through immigration. After getting out stamps, we met up with Chad in the luggage hall. We were the very last to get out bags, but we had no problems getting through customs. Chad filled up on his Digicell credit and I exchanged dollars for Gourdes and visited the Tourism bureau, but they were out of maps.
