Holyhead harbour on Anglesey is a great place to get good close views of Great Northern Divers in winter. A place I visit regularly and had the good fortune to see this bird catch a large Common Shore Crab, which it soon dismembered and swallowed. The only place they breed is in the Western Palearctic is Iceland and surely we have too many winter visitors to all be Icelandic birds, Are the numbers swollen by birds from the New World where they are known as Common Loons?
